The five-day Dengue Awareness Program from Thursday, July 30, 2015 to Monday,August 3, 2015 was conducted by the NSS unit of Kristu Jayanti College which included its Teachers and students Near Narayanpura Geddalahalli ,Nagenahalli, Kothanur and Byrathi .
The nearby government hospital doctors also took the initiative to go around with students and explain them about the Aedis Mosquito and showed them the "Larva" which emerges from the egg of Aedis Mosquito.
Students went to each house and especially slum areas and created awareness among lots of People who were unaware of these Dengue situations and also informed them about the Dengue fever, its severe effects and how to tackle these situations in an easy simplified manner so that they could remain safe.
The campaign included around 400 students from the NSS unit of KJC and around 100 houses were covered each day and the campaign covered around 3000 people. A survey was also done by the students to count the no. of tanks present at each house and whether larva was found in those tanks or that they were clean.
Apart from this there were lot of open dirty water channels outside many houses where water was accumulated and people complained that BBMP was really slow in taking steps to close those channels. There were also cases where people just blamed BBMP where they could have easily taken some decisions in the area to keep their roads and those open water channels clean.
The program conducted by the NSS team members was really appreciated by the Local people. The Program was headed by the NSS Program officer Dr.Shreedhar Pd., Prof.Prathap , Prof.Nayaz Pasha, Prof.Vinod , Prof.Kalyani and Prof.Priya.
