The Life Science department Of Kristu jayanti College successfully organized a one-day Intercollegiate biofest- ‘Bioaura 2015’.The fest provided an amazing platform for students to showcase their various talents and explore the depths of the wonderful world of science. The fest was a critical driver of performance and innovation and made way for young minds to put forth their innovative ideas and perceptions. Students participated actively in the events with a lot of enthusiasm and exhibited team spirit. The persistent hardwork of 20 days payed off at the end. Events for both the UG and PG students were organized. The various events chalked out for PG students were as follows
REFLEX(QUIZ) :This event was aimed at igniting young minds to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of various concepts. Reflex was successful in expanding the participant’s breadth of knowledge. It also aided in better organization of knowledge by helping the brain’s clustered material to allow better retrieval. This event was conducted in Mini Audi-2 from 10:30am to 11:30am.It had 4 rounds and a total of 4 teams participated in it. The moderator for this event was Dr.Sonia Angeline, Assistant Professor, Department of Life Sciences. All teams participated with great enthusiasm and coordination. It was truly a mind-boggling session.
IMPRINT(PHOTOGRAPHY):To take a photograph is to participate in another person/thing’s mortality, vulnerability and mutability precisely by slicing out each moment and freezing it. All photographs testify to time’s relentless melt. This photography competition helped the students to have a magnified view of the impressions of life. This event was conducted in Mini Audi-1 from 12:30pm to 1:30 pm. A total of 9 students participated in it. The theme of this individual event was ‘Colours of Nature’. The photographs were then judged on the basis of several criteria like creativity, clarity, caption and theme by Mr. Binu Joseph and Dr. Shalini Prabhu.
TRANSCRIPT(DECODING THE SEQUENCE):Ideas created by teams are definitely larger in number than those created by an individual. Hence the probability of discovering a winning idea is huge. Transcript made way for ‘out of the box’ thinking. Here the brain was triggered to think creativity and differently. Problem solving and intellectual thinking along with team work was assessed and boosted by this event. The participants performed in pairs and were faced with on- spot, time bound challenges and tasks which called for agility and team spirit. The tasks included puzzles and quizzes related to life sciences and had a total of 3 rounds. This event was conducted in Room No. 514 from 2pm to 3pm. The teams were then judged based on team work and time taken. The judges for this event were Dr.Shalini Prabhu.
