On the eve of Independence Day(August 15),the NSS unit of Kristu Jayanti College visited an old age home “Home of hope” near Doddagubbi Village .A huge donation of 23k was collected form the college and lots of medicines, food items, groceries were purchased and distributed among the people of the old age home.
“Home of hope “is a place founded by T.Raja in 1998.The place is built on rescuing and rehabilitating the deserted and the dying people from the streets. The Home of Hope is where the future of the homeless lies. Raja started this home with compassion and faith as his only investment and lot of people form the world came forward and helped him in the initiative.
The NSS Program officer Dr.Shreedhar Pd., Prof.Prathap , Prof.Nayaz Pasha, Prof.Vinod , Prof.Kalyani and Prof.Priya. joined the student in the initiative. Students danced, enjoyed and had interaction with the people and were really excited and emotional to see the happiness on their faces. On asking one student how he felt, he said in an emotional tone “the place is just amazing, there are more than 250 people here and most of them are from streets, this women here has one leg but look at her dancing and enjoying to the music, it’s all thanks to the NSS unit that I could celebrate my Independence day with these people” .
