Department Of Social Work in collaboration with BIRDS NGO has conducted a Social Work Camp for 10 Days from 1st July to 10th July 2015 at Sonndenahalli, Hoskote Taluk, Bangalore Rural. The key objective of rural camp was to help students understand rural social systems, community need assessment, approaches and the strategies of intervention used by the various organizations working for the welfare of the rural community. The camp also helped to initiate the capacity of the student to critique the intervention of both the voluntary organization and the government agencies in relation to the specific poverty group. The rural camp facilitated the students to experience group living to appreciate the value in terms of self-development, interpersonal relationship and sense of organization, management and talking responsibility.
The various Programmes held during camp includes, Social Survey, Awareness campaigns, Gender sensitization, women empowerment, Health Camp, Children’s Parliament , Gram Panchayat, Sports Day for the Children etc… Overall it was an experiential Learning for the students.
