The Department of Psychology, Kristu Jayanti College, organized the Psychology fest, Cognizance 2016, which is a fest conducted by the Post-graduate students of the Department for the Under-graduate students of the Department. The fest was conducted in the Main Auditorium in the UG block. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma who is currently working as an Associate Professor at NIMHANS. During his inaugural address, he spoke about the current generation's addiction to technology and about his work relating to the same. His talk on the various manifestations of addiction to technology was an eye-opener to everyone present for the event. The inaugural address, which was given by Rev. Fr. Augustine George, Vice-Principal of the college, was very informative as he spoke about the need for Psychology in various fields today. Ms. Anjali Tresa, student co-ordinator of Cognizance, proposed the vote of thanks.
The fest which started off at 9 AM in the morning went on till 5 PM. Throughout the fest, the students exhibited high levels of enthusiasm. There were a total of 9 events, both off-stage and on-stage, which kept both the organizers as well as the participants busy and entertained.
The valedictory ceremony started at 4 PM. In his valedictory address, Fr. Lijo P. Thomas, Financial Administrator of the college, spoke about the role that Psychologists have to play in society. He also applauded the organizers of the fest for having conducted the programs in such a way that none of the other classes were disturbed. The prizes for the various events were distributed by Fr. Lijo Thomas, Fr. Emmanuel PJ, faculty of the Department of Psychology and Dr. Gopakumar AV, Dean of Humanities. Ms. Ruby Thomas, student co-ordinator of cognizance proposed the vote of thanks and the fest concluded with the National Anthem
