The Department of Social Work, organized an orientation visit for the 2ndyear MSW students to Public Affairs Centre (PAC) Bengaluru on 15th July 2016. PAC is a non-profit research organization committed to good governance by influencing the policy decisions of the governments The faculty members of PAC, Dr. Meena Nair, Dr. Iyer, Dr. Basil and Dr. Vivek held sessions on the various activities and programs of the organization like, Citizen Voice and Action Support Group (CASG), Swach Bharth Mission (SBM), Citizens Report Cards (CRC) and Community Score Cards (CSCs)The trainees were enlightened on the organization and the initiatives taken in order to collect, analyze, interpret and disseminate data and reach it out to the respective authorities for effective monitoring and action. Different applications for mobile devices have been developed by PAC to help the people connect better with the organization.
The sessions enabled the social work trainees to have a deeper and clearer understanding on the current societal issues and the stand they could take as professional social workers in bringing effective changes in the governance.
