The PG and Research department of Social Work organized a two day workshop on Transactional Analysis, on 7th & 8th December 2016 for the 4th semester MSW students. The aim of the workshop was to introduce to the budding Social Workers the well- known concept of Transactional Analysis by Dr. Eric Berne. The eminent resource person Dr. J. Henry Rozario (Head, Department of Social Work, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu) gave a perspective of the theory of Transactional Analysis to the participants during the inaugural session.
Further Dr. Rozario discussed the Transactional Analysis which includes vital concepts like Structural Analysis, Analysis of Transaction, the Hunger for Strokes, Basic Life positions, Hunger for Time Structuring, Psychological Games and Stamp Collecting. Practical examples, activities and interaction of the participants added better understanding to the theoretical concepts of TA. On the other hand the games and exercises between the sessions kept the participants lively, active and involved. The workshop not only gave theoretical inputs to the students but also helped them to understand their ego states and contemplate on the changes to be made in their relationship with themselves and with others.
The two day workshop concluded with a valedictory function presided over by Fr. Augustine George, Vice Principal, Kristu Jayanti College. The students having experienced the productive exchange of knowledge which would be handy in their personal and professional lives.
