The Dual Major Programme in Psychology and English Literature offers students an enriching interdisciplinary learning experience that bridges the study of human behaviour with the exploration of literary expression. The programme equips students with analytical, interpretive, and empathetic skills by integrating psychological theories and methods with the critical and creative study of literature. The core courses of English major focuses on language, literary and cultural studies with tangential focus on the history of ideas that contextualise studies in Psychology. It also emphasizes on developing language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), while encouraging creative expression and critical thinking. While focusing on ‘Language Studies’, the thrust of the programme is on focusing on ‘interarts’ scholarship, to enable readings that are cultural and social to map identity construction.
The core courses of Psychology are designed to pursue a career in Psychology. The programme equips students with an in-depth understanding to specialize in Clinical Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Human Resource Management and Counselling Psychology.
Eligibility for Admission
Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary (10+2 / PUC) or Equivalent with an aggregate of 40% or an equivalent CGPA are eligible.
