Smart Medicinal Garden

Smart Medicinal Garden at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University)

Krsitu Jayanti campus is adorned with more than 40% green cover and a medicinal garden with more than 243 species of plants. Each plant in the medicinal garden has been assigned a unique QR code which gives information about the scientific details: Scientific name, morphology, phytochemical properties and medicinal uses. This was made possible by the equal involvement of the enthusiastic students and teachers of the Life Science Department, Centre for Environment and Sustainability and the support from the Management. The students are involved in the maintenance of the garden, and many projects are being carried out on medicinal plants. Fr. Dr Augustine George, vice-chancellor, said that this initiative would spread awareness about the different plants and their medicinal values amongst the youth and encourage them to care for nature.
