The Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) has been initiated by Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and provides various soft skills training for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of Kristu Jayanti College so that the students are able to enrich their skills in their respective domain and are able to face the challenges and adapt to day- to- day demands of the corporate world.

Focus on the student’s intellectual, mental, emotional, and social skills to enhance their visibility in the corporate and towards the society.

Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a session on “Resume Building” for first year BA PSSO students on March 11, 2024 at 01:40 pm in H306, Third Floor, Humanities Block. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Mr. Jinu Mathew – Coordinator - Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The importance of a resume as the principal mode of communication between a job candidate and the hiring manager was emphasised by the resource person. Hence, it is crucial to acknowledge the importance of a curriculum vitae. To provide a robust initial impression, it is imperative for an individual to ensure that their curriculum vitae has visually attractive elements. His emphasis was on the fact that the quality of a resume reflects an individual's professional demeanour. The Resource Person emphasised the need of a carefully crafted curriculum vitae that effectively showcases an individual's abilities, knowledge, comprehension, and achievements, particularly for individuals aiming to establish their presence in the highly competitive employment landscape. Mr. Rohan Kumar concluded the session with a Vote of Thanks.

Students were able to acknowledge the significance of resumes in the process of searching for employment. Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT), Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized orientation session on “Opportunities for Higher Education” for Final Year B. Com A & C Section students 7th March,2024 at 12:00pm in the P2 Conference Hall, PG Block, Kristu Jayanti College. Opportunities for Higher Education" is an engaging soft skills training session led by Ms. Lubna Ashfaq, the Destination Manager at IDP Education Private Limited in Bengaluru. During this session, Ms. Ashfaq provides comprehensive insights into the various pathways for pursuing higher education, emphasizing the importance of soft skills in achieving academic and professional success.

Participants are guided through the nuances of selecting the right institutions, understanding the application processes, and the significance of personal development skills in navigating the journey of higher education. Ms. Ashfaq shares her expertise on global education trends, scholarship opportunities, and tips for effective communication, leadership, and time management, which are crucial for thriving in a competitive academic environment. This session is a must-attend for students and professionals looking to expand their educational horizons and develop the soft skills necessary for a successful career in the global marketplace. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

Students gained insights into various higher education options, including universities and courses globally, helping them make informed decisions about their academic futures. Students also received guidance on the end-to-end process of applying for higher education, including preparing effective applications, writing personal statements, and understanding admission criteria.

Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru organized a session on “Mastering Creative Communication for Employability” for first year BA HSPS students on March 05, 2024 at 11:00 am in H307, Third Floor, Humanities Block. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Prof Jithin Joseph - Faculty – Department of English, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Resource Person emphasized that Mastering the art of effective communication is essential for success in any work environment. It is critical to articulate one's thoughts precisely, listen attentively, and modify one's delivery depending on the audience an individual is communicating with. He also stressed that this might be true with an individual who is working with coworkers or clients. He concluded the session by saying that a person's ability to communicate effectively determines how well they can understand one another, how often misconceptions occur, and how well they can work together in different teams.

Students were able to recognise their communication strengths and shortcomings, learn to work around them, make good use of office communication tools, and deal with challenging people more effectively.

The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Dr. Brighton A. Rose, Faculty, Department of English, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. In numerous instances, the resource person asserts that the interview presentation of a candidate holds greater significance than their factual qualifications. An individual's educational history, professional background, demeanour, interpersonal skills, and communication proficiency are evaluated. Target! for the second year BA PSSO students on February 28, 2024 at 02:40 pm in H206, Second Floor, Humanities Block. The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Dr. Geethu Anna Mathew, Faculty – Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Setting goals is crucial, but as life progresses, every individual overlooks its significance, according to the Resource Person. Setting goals does not need to be a chore. Having a plan of action and specific objectives to strive for has many positive effects. A person can maintain long-term momentum and initiate new behaviors by setting goals. The resource person stressed that the benefit of setting goals is the feeling of accomplishment and focus they bring. She emphasized, that managing what one does not measure and improving what one does not manage correctly are mutually exclusive. One way to accomplish all of that and more is to set goals. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Dr Nidhi Raj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting & Finance. The Resource Person completed a series of concise activities to improve the group's understanding of their cognitive abilities. The instructor employed three "Innovation Mantras" to engage the youngsters in a conversation around strategies for fostering creativity. She utilized various activities to instruct her students on the three Innovation Mantras - "Shake your Brain," "Understand and Analyze the Problem," and "Ulta Pulta" to assist them in honing their ability to implement these tactics. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms. Sruthika Rajeev and she also introduced the resource person Prof. Sen B Mathews Director - Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Faculty – School of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Resource Person emphasized that a media person's work schedules can shift abruptly to deal with association-related difficulties. One may be deemed crucial for a task with no time to waste. Being open-minded and willing to assist when needed can distinguish individuals from less flexible ones. He stressed the fact that an Individual who is grooming to be a media personality should be ready to multitask and handle various tasks which will enhance their appeal as a skilled communicator, whether they are asked to create an infographic for a brochure, produce a video for a marketing campaign, present a demonstration to a client, or facilitate a focus group for market research. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Prof. Suku Thomas Samuel- Faculty - Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The resource person highlighted that Personal Branding establishes an identity for oneself as an individual or corporation. This entails creating a clearly defined and uniform appearance, communication, and online and offline visibility. Everyone possesses a reputation, initial interactions, peer connections and communication style influence how others perceive them. An individual’s reputation is the sum of the perceptions and judgments people develop about an individual from their overall conduct and demeanour. Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru organized a session on “Innovation Mantra” for second year BA English students on February 21, 2024, at 12:00 pm in Humanities Block Room No: H 301. The session started with silent prayer and Welcome Address by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Dr Nidhi Raj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting & Finance, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru. The Resource Person addressed the group and conducted a series of brief tasks to enhance their comprehension of their cognitive capacities. She used three "Innovation Mantras" to involve the children in a discussion on how to promote creativity. She employed a range of exercises to educate her pupils on the three Innovation Mantras - "Shake your Brain," "Understand and Analyze the Problem," and "Ulta Pulta" - and to help them practice implementing these strategies. Mr. Rohan Kumar concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person, Prof. Bijin Philip, Coordinator- Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Talent Transformation Team & Faculty – Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. According to the resource person, a lack of self-awareness is the source of all interview problems, and he highlighted that every civil service candidate should know themselves first. He also emphasized that in the centre of every person's heart are many layers of skin and even though we know many things, we need to know more about ourselves.

According to the resource person, there are some misinformation about the IAS interview process. Someone may also have had unfavourable impressions from prior interviews. However, one must not let gloom prevent them from seizing possibilities. Prof. Bijin Philip added that truthfully answering the questions would be awesome. He reminded them to thank the board members who have invested effort into evaluating candidates' personal qualities. Mr Rohan Kumar offered a vote of thanks and the session ended.

Centre for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, organized a Soft Skills Training Session on “Interview Techniques” for final year B.Sc (LS & FS) students (All Sections) on 17th February 2024, from 10.00 – 11.00 am in A2 Auditorium, Admin Block. The session aimed at providing insights about interview techniques, guidelines, frequently asked questions and practice questions. The session started with a silent prayer followed by a welcome address delivered by Mr. Rohan Kumar, Student Coordinator, CSSAT. Ms. Kaniskha, VI Sem LS student, introduced the resource person Prof. Bijin Philip and handed over the session to him. Prof. Bijin Philip addressed the gathering and led an engaging session with the participants. The students actively contributed their solutions for the given case study. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sruthika Rajeev, Student Coordinator, CSSAT.

Centre for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, organized a session on “Interview Skills & Etiquettes” for first year MA English students on February 17, 2024, at 09:00 am in H107, First Floor Humanities Block. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev, Student Coordinator, CSSAT, introduced the resource person Prof. Bijin Philip, Coordinator- Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Talent Transformation Team & Faculty – Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The resource person highlighted that in many cases, a candidate's charismatic interview performance is more important than their actual qualifications. Along with one's education and work experience, one's demeanor, fundamental social skills, and communication abilities are assessed. He also stressed that the interviewee and the interviewer must converse, sharing thoughts and information back and forth. He concluded the session with an optimistic note that being able and willing to be authentic and stand out from the crowd is the most crucial element that makes a person distinctive. Those who are content to live by all aspects of their identity are the most distinctive individuals in the job market. Soft Skills Training Session on Group Discussion Skills

Centre for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, organized a Soft Skills Training Session on “Group Discussion Skills” for first Year B.Sc (LS & FS) students (All Sections) on 16th February 2024, from 1.40 – 3.00 pm. The session aimed at providing insights about group discussion guidelines and practice sessions. The session started with a silent prayer and a welcome address by Mr. Rohan Kumar, Student Coordinator, CSSAT. A brief introduction to the resource person was given by Ms. Gayathri, II Sem LS student, and handed over the session to the resource person, Prof. Vinod Joseph George, Assistant Professor. The resource person of the event addressed the gathering and took the participants through practice interactive session. The session was interactive and the student participants put forward their solutions for the given case study. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sruthika Rajeev, Student Coordinator, CSSAT.

The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Prof. Bijin Philip Coordinator- Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Talent Transformation Team & Faculty – Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The resource person emphasized that every civil service aspirant should first know about themselves, and he stated that lack of self-awareness is the root of all problems with Interviews. Within the depths of a person's heart are numerous skin layers. We have a wealth of knowledge but must be more knowledgeable about who we are. The resource person also stated that a lot of false information was circulated regarding the IAS interview. Previous interviews may have left an individual with negative impressions as well. One should not, however, allow pessimism to destroy their opportunities. Things like the interview board, the position, the questions, and so on are out of one's hands. Therefore, there is no need to stress about them. He also stated that it would be cool to answer the questions honestly. Appreciate the board members who have taken the time to assess an individual's character traits. Always keep in mind the importance of the board members. Their knowledge and experience are extensive. Be more formal when asking queries of a severe nature. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Prof. Bijin Philip Coordinator- Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Talent Transformation Team, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. The resource person highlighted that a resume is the first point of contact between an individual and the hiring manager. Therefore, a resume's significance should consistently be recognized. If an individual want to make an excellent first impression, they must ensure their resume is eye-catching. He also stressed that the quality of one's Resume indicates one's professional demeanour. Resource person firmly insisted that a well-written resume highlighting one's abilities, experience, expertise, and achievements is essential for any professional or aspiring professional looking to make a name for them in the competitive job market. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

Students were able to ccomprehend that while looking for a job, resumes are a must-have. Resumes are tools for prospective employers to learn about a candidate's background, education, and work experience before deciding whether to offer them a job. Students were able to analyze that to get ahead in the competitive job market, applicants need a well-crafted résumé that may help them navigate the often complex process of finding meaningful employment.

The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms. Sruthika Rajeev, and she also introduced the resource person Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. The resource person emphasized that to be a social worker, one needs to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Communication skills are essential for social workers when interacting with clients and coworkers. He also stressed that for social workers dealing with clients, each with their complicated history, is an integral part of social work. Understanding the client's situation, including their problems, needs, and preferences, is essential for developing an effective solution. Critical thinking, a vital talent for social workers, is required to accomplish this. Integrating knowledge with observations of one's client's circumstances is fundamental to critical thinking in social work. In order to help clients effectively, social workers need to make split-second judgments while employing their critical and creative thinking skills. The resource person also highlighted that being sympathetic may come quickly to social workers, but it is also a talent that can be honed and improved with effort and time. He highlighted that solid self-awareness allows social workers to better assist their clients by prioritizing their genuine requirements. As a social worker, they must make sure that their personal needs are addressed by practicing mindful self-care. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar Students were able to ccomprehend that practicing social work entails learning about and working to better the lives of individuals within a community. This session helped the students to discover the power to create a meaningful difference and to ascertain that improving human well-being and assisting in meeting the complex and fundamental needs of all people is the fundamental goal of social work.


One Day National Level Workshop on “Design Thinking 101: Unlock Your Inner Innovator”

Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT), Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru organized one day workshop on “Design Thinking 101: Unlock Your Inner Innovator” for second and final year UG students on 13h February, 2024 in Auditorium A1, Admin Block. The Workshop session was handled by Dr.D.Ravindran, Faculty- School of Management, Innovation Ambassador, Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru and Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta, Faculty – Department of Professional Accounting & Finance, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru. The session on Design Thinking aims to strengthen student’s visibility in the corporate world and society by addressing and developing their intellectual, emotional and social skills. Dr. D. Ravindran started an interactive session with a detailed introduction to the concept of “Design Thinking” and emphasized the importance and application of Design Thinking into the innovation of new products. In second technical session, Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta who upheld the significance of the traditional Design Thinking that was introduced by Buddha. She followed it with fun activities as well as conducted activities that required students to make a prototype solution to the topics chosen by them. The workshop explored how students can have structured approach to solving complex problems by focusing on understanding the user's needs, generating innovative ideas, and prototyping and testing solutions. It gave them an understanding that, by delivering solutions that are tailored to user needs and preferences, design thinking can enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Overall, Design Thinking workshop helped the students with valuable skills and methodologies for addressing complex problems, fostering innovation, and creating meaningful experiences for users.

This workshop on “Design Thinking” has provided valuable insights into this foundational concept. It reminded us that while the core functions unchanged, the application and implementation of these principles have evolved with the times in the modern world. During the session, students interacted actively and gathered information on how designing and effective implementation of the same works in a product launching and why it is important for a business growth along with the individual potential growth.

The session aimed to equip students with the tools and mindset necessary to navigate life's challenges, build healthy relationships, and thrive personally and academically. By prioritizing social-emotional learning and incorporating these objectives into educational curricula, schools can empower students to succeed not only in the classroom but also in their future endeavors. The objective of the coping with emotions training session was to equip participants with practical strategies and skills to effectively manage their emotions in various personal and professional contexts. The session aimed to enhance students' emotional intelligence, resilience, and interpersonal communication abilities. Emotions play a significant role in our daily lives, influencing our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with others. Centre for Soft Skills Training & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) in association with the Department of Professional Management Studies (DPMS), Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized an orientation session on “ETIQUETTES” for First Year BBA – AM B section students on 13th February 2024 at 3.40 pm in Room No. A 305. Mr. Daksh Banthia who introduced the resource person Dr. Sneha N, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Management Studies and handed over the session to her. The session aimed at providing the students with the best training on basic etiquette, enabling them to cultivate awareness on the feelings and rights of both individuals and society. Dr. Sneha.N explained the importance of etiquette in the contemporary corporate world and life course. She enlightened the participants to be aware of their surroundings in a public setting. Various visual representations for different social skills and etiquettes were used to make the session more engaging and understandable.

The session aimed at making the students understand the importance of time management. The session emphasizes the objective of time management and, why time management is important for students. It also helped them to understand where they have to say “No”. The students were informed about the benefits of time management. They were also encouraged to discuss their methods of managing time at home.

Students gained insight regarding how to utilize the given time. They were confident that they would make every effort in managing time from then onwards.

Ms. Rupashree conducted a comprehensive Soft Skills Training Session on “Time Management” for Business Analytics students. The session aimed to enhance the participants' ability to prioritize tasks, improve productivity, and effectively manage their time in a professional setting. The session began by highlighting the significance of time management in both personal and professional spheres. She emphasized how effective time management can increase productivity, reduced stress, and improved overall work-life balance. The trainer introduced various techniques for prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance. The session started with the problem-solving process typically involves several stages, including identifying the problem, analyzing its root causes, generating potential solutions, evaluating these options, implementing the chosen solution, and monitoring its effectiveness. Tools such as root cause analysis, brainstorming, SWOT analysis, fishbone diagrams (Ishikawa), the 5 Whys method, surveys, interviews, and process mapping help in pinpointing the core causes and factors influencing the problem. Moreover, understanding problem-solving techniques is top for devising effective solutions. The Global 8D approach, Six Sigma's DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) framework, and the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle are prominent methodologies employed to systematically address problems. This training session has covered these all things as described. These methodologies & techniques provide structured frameworks for problem-solving, emphasizing data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and thorough analysis to ensure sustainable solutions.

Ms. Surbhi Roy initiated the session with a brief introduction, introducing Dr. Sivaprasad V as the resource person. Dr. Sivaprasad V addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of writing a resume to face the interview with confident. He encouraged students to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses to boost confidence and improve their overall personality. Dr. Sivaprasad also provided guidance on effective group discussions and communication skills. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Alfen Lara Singh.

The session aimed at enhancement of body language by giving proper demonstration and relatable examples. This helped the students to gain insight into the body language etiquettes and to understand what has to be done once, they move out into the corporate world. The session started with a brief introduction to Personal etiquettes, and then the resource person shed upon the major body language etiquettes. He informed the participants to be conscious about their body language that will build their confidence and enhance their personalities. He also made the students understand how to proceed with different circumstances of corporate life like, group discussions, interviews, etc. and enhanced their confidence by improving their body language. Overall, the session was very informative and insightful.

Mr. Arunkumar B, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering and asked the participants to give a write up about themselves, he also made the participants do a SWOC Analysis. He conducted a self-evaluation test of the participants with a bunch of question to identify the areas the participants need to improve.

The session aimed on emphasizing basic interview skills and how to tackle few basic questions. Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations (CECR), started the session with fundamental questions.

He talked about the 4 Ps - Planning, Preparation, Practice and Performance, that is necessary and essential for a successful interview. He ran through a few very important questions that are very common during interviews. The level of Confidence, some basic Interview Etiquettes and many more helpful insights that equipped the students for a successful interview.

The event commenced at 10:00 AM and ran until 10:50 AM on January 18 2024, accommodating a total of 70 participants. Ms. Sony N, a distinguished faculty member from the Department of Management, served as the resource person for this insightful session. She delved into various aspects of interpersonal skills, covering effective communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and building positive relationships. The content was thoughtfully curated to cater to the needs of students pursuing management studies, aligning with real-world scenarios and industry expectations. The training session employed an interactive approach, encouraging active participation from the attendees. Group activities, role-plays, and discussions were incorporated to ensure a holistic learning experience. The dynamic nature of the session fostered a conducive environment for students to grasp and apply the principles of interpersonal skills.

He ran through a few interesting videos that were very relevant in the coming era of marketing. The significance of data, privacy and customer mapping, along with numerous valuable insights, empowered students to think beyond.

The session started with a silent prayer followed by a brief introduction on the topic, “Team Bonding”. Various topics and terms were explained and the necessity of team bonding and how important it is to communicate and have a good relationship among the team members was explained and highlighted by Prof. Somasundaram T. Team Bonding is important in every field be it in college or corporate every field requires teamwork. And the major thing in a team is Unity. The session was followed by some fun activities where various applications of team bonding were followed.

From this training session, students were able to work out different problems in a team and come up with solutions. Students learned various terms and concepts of Team Bonding. Overall, students were able to understand the importance of Team Bonding and implement it into their day-to-day tasks and activities. This session gave the students very insightful information and made them understand that with Unity anything can be achieved.


S Square - Series of Soft Skills Training on Goal Setting
Date: 03 November 2023 Centre for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training in association with the Department of Management organized Soft Skill Training on Goal Setting on 3rd November 2023 at A312, Admin Block, at 12.20 pm. The soft skill trainer Mr. Manjunath S, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, highlighted the importance and the process of goal setting. The objective of this session is to help participants identify what they want to achieve in their personal life or their professional life. Goal setting is a crucial aspect of personal and professional development. It provides focus, direction, and a sense of accomplishment when completed. In order to achieve success, it is essential to set SMART goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Goal setting, a soft skill, is a robust process for thinking about one’s ideal future and for motivating oneself to turn vision of future into reality. Setting goals is a great skill to direct, focus, and motivate towards achieving them. This keeps them inspired and helps in adjusting their plans if needed. Goal setting can be described as a personal planning process. Goal setting has been proven to be a more effective method of achieving targets than aspirations.

With the skills acquired through this session, individuals can work confidently towards their goals, resulting in greater success and personal satisfaction.


S Square- Series Of Soft Skills Training on Now or Never (A Session on Procrastination)
Date: 19 October 2023 Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous in association with the Department of Management organized “S Square” – A series of Soft Skills Training sessions on “Now or Never” for Second year BBA D section students on October 19, 2023. The session commenced with silent prayer. The session mainly focused on procrastination and the objective of this session is to make the students understand the importance of time and to reduce the quality of procrastination. The session provided the students with an understanding that procrastination is delaying or postponing a task that needs to be completed. It involves putting off important tasks until later when it might be too late or difficult to do them correctly. Procrastination can lead to low productivity, poor time management skills, and missed deadlines.

Students gained the knowledge that procrastination can lead to various negative emotions, like guilt, shame, and sadness and it will worsen mental and physical health. It also helped students to understand that preventing procrastination helps in having peace of mind, a feeling of strength and purpose, and a healthy feeling of being in charge of your life.


Soft Skills Training Session on "Interpersonal Communication"
Date: 06 October 2023 Centre of Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a seminar on “Interpersonal communication” for First Year BBA, C section students on October 6, 2023 at 11.00 AM in the A206, Second Floor, Admin Block, Kristu Jayanti College. The session aimed to enhance the communication skills of the first-year BBA students. The session consisted of four aspects: "What is communication?", "Principles of communication", "Why is communication important in our lives?" "How to be a good listener as well as a receiver." The session on communication skills enables the students to connect with others and to improve relationships, career opportunities, and their overall well-being. This session made them understand the process of exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the message is received and delivered with clarity and purpose so that both the sender and receiver are satisfied.

Students gained knowledge on how successful communication can help us build relationships, teamwork and trust. It made them realise the effectiveness of communication in our daily lives for better decision making. This session also made them to understand on how communication plays a crucial role in personal, professional and social aspects of our lives.


Soft Skills Training on Leadership Skills
Date: 06 October 2023 Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) in association with the Department of Management organized “S Square” - a series of Soft Skills Training sessions on “Leadership Skills” for first year BBA E section students on 6th October, 2023 at 10.00 AM in A209, Second Floor, Admin Block, Kristu Jayanti College. The session aimed to enhance the leadership skills of first year BBA students. The session commenced with silent prayer, followed by a Welcome Address by Abel Chacko (23BBAE04), Student Representative of the class. The session comprised three headings: “Meaning and types of leadership styles,” “Qualities and recipe for being a leader,” and “Activities to develop the leadership qualities among students.”

The session on leadership skills provided an enriching platform for the students to enhance their leadership abilities. It motivated them to be involved in various college activities to bring out their hidden leadership qualities. The session aimed to enhance the leadership skills of first-year BBA students. The session commenced with silent prayer, followed by a welcome address by Pranav Shyamlal (23BBAB47), student representative of the class. The session on leadership skills is imperative as a leader that you are constantly challenging the status quo, and pushing yourself to acquire new skills or improve existing ones. We live in a perpetually competitive business environment. Pursuing leadership skills training is an essential ingredient to staying relevant.

Here are the key advantages of leadership training: A leader’s ability to motivate, inspire, and guide a team to success takes more than just shouting orders from the sidelines. It requires a deep understanding of human behavior, as well as the ability to manage different personality types. It is imperative as a leader that you are constantly challenging the status quo, and pushing yourself to acquire new skills or improve existing ones. We live in a perpetually competitive business environment.

Soft Skills Training Session on Power of Positive Thinking
Date: 03 October 2023 Center for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training (CSSAT) in association with the Department of Management organized a Series of Soft Skills training session on Power of Positive Thinking on October 03, 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Dr. Swathi. P, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.

The session started with a Quote “A positive mindset brings positive things.” The session continued to focus on practicing good thoughts in any situation. This positive attitude has a big impact on the physical and mental health. The session also continued to stress the importance of Positive thinking and insisted on how it helps us with stress management and improving our health.

To conclude the session, the Speaker gave a few insights to practice positive thinking and thinking positively also means anticipating happiness, health, and determination, all of which eventually lead to success. At the end of the guest lecture, students gave their feedback and explained how they were benefited.

Date: 30 September 2023 Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) in association with Department of Management organized S Square – a series of Soft Skills Training session on Team Building Skills to the First year BBA G section students on September 30, 2023. Team building skills are essential soft skills that enable individuals to effectively collaborate and work together in a group setting. Whether in the workplace, at school, or within a community, the ability to foster a sense of unity, cooperation, and shared purpose is paramount to achieving success. Through this series, we explored the various aspects of team building skills and highlight their significance in helping individuals navigate their day-to-day tasks when working in groups. Various activities were conducted by the resource person.

Team building skills refer to the ability to establish and foster positive relationships, effective communication, and collaboration within a team. Students actively participated in the session. Various activities were conducted by the resource person. Overall it was a fruitful session.


Softskills Training Session on Leadership Skills
Date: 27 September 2023 The leadership skills training session conducted for BBA students emphasized the cultivation of vital leadership capabilities. Participants engaged in activities and discussions enhance self-awareness, improve communication and interpersonal skills, build decision-making and problem-solving capabilities, and learn to lead and inspire teams effectively. The session provided practical tools and strategies to help participants become more effective and confident leaders in various contexts.

The leadership skills session conducted aimed to achieve several key learning outcomes. Participants emerged from the session with a heightened sense of self-awareness, better equipped to understand their strengths and weaknesses, their unique leadership style. Additionally, they honed their communication and interpersonal skills, becoming more adept at effective interaction and conflict resolution. Furthermore, participants gained the competence to make informed decisions and solve complex problems, while acquiring the necessary skills to lead and inspire teams successfully. Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a session on “Innovation Sustain” for first year BA English students on September 25, 2023, at 12:00 pm in Humanities Block Room No: H 101. The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. M. Devadethan. Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Dr Nidhi Raj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting & Finance. Resource Person spoke to the group and led them in a series of short exercises designed to help them better understand their own cognitive abilities. Using three "Innovation Mantras," she engaged the students in conversation on how to foster inventiveness. She used a variety of exercises to teach the students about the three Innovation Mantras—"Shake your Brain," "Understand and Analyse the Problem," and "Ulta Pulta"—and gave them exercises to apply these techniques. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

The students learned valuable lessons about the creative process. Participants engaged in lively discussion and took notes on the "mantra for innovation" presented. The necessity of creative and risk-taking thinking was emphasized to the students.


Soft Skills Training Session on Personal Wellness
Date: 19 September 2023 Centre of Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a “Personal Wellness” seminar for II M.C.A / M.Sc. students of all sections. The session aimed at personality enhancement by giving the students examples of other people's lives so that they could relate and get an insight into what has to be done once they move out into the actual world. The session started with a brief introduction by Ms. Gunjan Kumari who introduced the resource person of this seminar Dr. Sheeja Krishna Kumar, Associate Professor and then handed over the session to her. Dr. Sheeja Krishna Kumar addressed the gathering and then questioned the participants about aptitude tests and how it is important to make them a part of their daily lives. She enlightened the participants to be conscious of their strengths and weaknesses which will build their confidence and enhance their personalities. She also made the students understand how to behave according to the situation and enhance their communication skills. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

Ms. Sruthika Rajeev introduced the resource person Prof. Bijin Philip Coordinator- Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations & Talent Transformation Team & Faculty – Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The Resource Person emphasized that a prospective interviewer will gain insight into problem-solving and communication abilities through interview performance. He also stressed that Interviewing Skills encompass the psychological and strategic methods that enhance the effectiveness of job searchers during the process of interviewing for a new job. The importance of Individual competencies, such as maintaining a positive attitude, demonstrating accountability, acquiring knowledge rapidly, and adhering to safety protocols, were discussed in the session. Resource Person also highlighted the Collaborative abilities, such as effective interpersonal communication and assisting team members in their assignments and responsibilities. The session aimed to train the students about conflict management by giving examples from day-to-day experiences. The session started with a brief introduction by Clara Rhea Rony (I-BA-PSY-B) who introduced the resource person of this Training session and then handed over the session to him. Prof. Jinu Mathew, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering by giving Career guidance wherein in he spoke about various ways of avoiding conflicts in workplaces and life situations. He enlightened the participants to be conscious of their strengths and weaknesses which will build their confidence and enhance their personalities. He also made the students understand the strategies and techniques to be used to prevent or resolve conflicts with their colleagues. The session started with a brief introduction by Ms. Disha who introduced the resource person of this seminar and then handed over the session to him. Mr. Belvi Srinivas, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering by giving Career guidance wherein in he spoke about various higher studies that can be opted which will in turn help them to reach greater heights He enlightened the participants to be conscious about their strengths and weaknesses that will build their confidence and enhance their personalities. He also made the students understand how to proceed with group discussions and enhance their communication skills. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Rohan Kumar.

Date: 29 March 2023 Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT), in collaboration with Youth Red Cross Wing, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, organized the Soft Skills Training Session on “Power of One” on 29th March 2023 in M1 Auditorium from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM. The session started with the Welcome Address delivered by one of the CSSAT Student Coordinators, followed by Soft skills training session delivered by the Resource Person- Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta, Department of Professional Accounting & Finance, Kristu Jayanti College. The soft skills training on “Power of One” aimed to help individuals build confidence, self-awareness, and effective communication skills. This session emphasized the importance of taking ownership of one’s life and being proactive in pursuing goals and aspirations. The training focused on the idea that every individual has the power to make a difference and inspire others through their actions and words. Overall, the session was a valuable investment for individuals who are looking forward to enhancing their personal and professional development. The session was well-conducted and the volunteers had an interactive session, where they shared different perspectives and ideas they had about the same. Target!” for second-year B.A. English Hon., PSSO, VISCOM, HSPS, JOEN, and JOEC, on 6th March 2023 at 12:00 pm in the M3 Auditorium, Main Block. The session began with a silent prayer, followed by the Welcome Address from Ms. Riyana E, Student Coordinator, CSSAT. Dr. Geethu Anna Mathew, Assistant Professor, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, was the resource person for the session. She began by quoting that “a goal without a timeline is just a dream.” She deliberated upon five golden rules for setting career goals and emphasized setting goals that are motivating and realistic. She stated that one should have a positive attitude, which enables one to have the best results and achieve greater heights. She also affirmed that working hard for something requires passion and commitment. Lastly, she asked students to assess themselves to know their progress in their life and appreciate themselves for their hard work.

Centre for Soft Skills and Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, organized a Personality Enrichment Session on “Critical Thinking” for First Year B.A. English, PYJO, HSPS, PSSO, VISCOM, and PSY (Batch-1) on 7th March 2023 from 12:00 pm – 12.50 pm in the M1 Auditorium, Main Block. The session focused on the important aspects of career development, such as managerial skills, problem-solving, self-management, planning, and preparation. A brief instruction was given by the MC of the session, Ms. Diya of I B.A. PYJO. The session began with a silent prayer, followed by the welcome address from Mr. Jephin James (Student Coordinator, CSSAT). Ms. Azra Khan of I B.A. PYJO introduced the Resource Person, Prof. L. Santhosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of English, to the audience. The Resource Person emphasized the need for critical thinking by highlighting the importance of the 4 C’s in Critical Thinking. They are Communication, Collaborative, Creative, and Critical Thinking. The four C’s enables a person to analyze facts and form unbiased opinions in the workplace. He briefed me on the steps involved in critical thinking and discussed the difference between hard skills and soft skills. He also emphasized having positive attitude toward the challenges imposed and should always think ahead pertaining to their career enhancement.

Santhosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of English, to the audience. He also stressed the fact that there is no ‘unemployment’ problem in India and there is only an ‘unemployment’ problem in India because of unskilled employees. The Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a webinar on “INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES” for final year B.Com. PAF students on 25th February 2023 at 10:00 am through the Zoom platform. The session aimed on emphasizing at interview basic skills and how to tackle a few basic questions. Prof. Sen B Mathews, the Director, of the Centre for Employability & Corporate Relations (CECR), started the session with fundamental questions. He talked about the 4 Ps - Planning, Preparation, Practice, and Performance that is necessary and essential for having a successful interview. Ran through a few very important questions that are very common during interviews. The Importance of Confidence. Interview Etiquette and many more helpful insights that equipped us for a successful interview.

PAF students on 21st February 2023 at 11:00 am in the M1 Auditorium. The session aimed on emphasizing what is time, how we can manage our time efficiently along with its approaches, how procrastinating some important things in life could have a big impact, the concept of Timeboxing, and the steps on how to timebox. The session started with a silent prayer, and a welcome address by Ms. Riyana E, Student Coordinator – CSSAT followed by the introduction of the resource person by Mr. Jingle Jiju, II B.Com PAF who handed over the session to the resource person. Prof. Suku Thomas Samuel, the resource person of the event addressed the students by first asking what they think about the definition of time. Many students answered by saying that, Time is a Resource and it’s precious, as once the time is gone, it never comes back for anyone. The resource person also informed us that some people accomplish many things in their 24 hours, while others don’t accomplish much. He also taught that time management means making the best use of the available time along with its approaches where our approach to time management is logical, but the reality of the approach is that it is an emotional decision.

He also discussed the Time management theories (1st dimensional approach, 2nd dimensional approach, and the 3rd dimensional approach, notably Sir saying that the 3rd dimensional approach is the best approach to be used today). Afterward, Sir talked about the 2007 Meta-Analysis published in Psychological Bulletin which found that almost 80 to 95% of college students procrastinated regularly, particularly when it came to completing assignments and coursework. He told us how students tend to overestimate how much time they have left to perform tasks, overestimate how motivated they will be in the future, and overestimate how long certain activities take to complete. Next, Sir explained a new concept of Time-Boxing which meant allocating a fixed and maximum unit of time to an activity along with the steps on how to time-box (Finding Suitable Tasks, Defining your Goals, Setting the Time, Working and Assessing the Results, and Claiming your Reward at the End). The session ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Jephin James.

Students gained insights regarding Time Management. During the session, students interacted actively and gathered information on how to manage time effectively along with approaches, how to overcome procrastination, and the concept of the time box followed by its steps. This session has helped the students to understand the importance of Time management, Time-Boxing along with what impact some decisions of procrastination can make in our lives.


Personality Enrichment Session on Essentials of Personality
Centre for Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, organized a Personality Enrichment Session on “6 Thinking Hats” for First Year BCA, B. Sc (CS), B. Sc (LS & FS) students (all sections) on 14th February 2023 from 11.30 – 12.45 pm. The session aimed at personality enhancement by introducing a problem-solving approach through 6 thinking hats. The session started with a silent prayer and the welcome address was given by Ms. Riyana E, Student Coordinator, CSSAT. Mr. Preston Fernandez, II sem LS student, introduced the resource person of the session Prof. Vinod Joseph George, and handed over the session to him. The resource person of the event addressed the gathering and took the participants through solving problems using 6 thinking hats namely Blue Hat, White Hat, Red Hat, Black Hat, Yellow Hat & Green Hat. The session was interactive and the students put forward their solutions for the case study given. The session ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jephin James, Student Coordinator, CSSAT.

Soft Skills Training Session on Innovation Mantra
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a session on “Innovation Mantra” for first-year BBA and BBA HTM students on February 16, 2023, at 11.30 am in M1 Auditorium. The session aimed at developing innovative thinking skills. The session started with silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms. Archi Gangwani.

Ms. Richa Jogia introduced the resource person. Dr Nidhi Raj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting & Finance. Our Resource person addressed the gathering and took the participants through many small activities, wherein most of the participants participated and got to know the capacity of the brain. She interacted with the students about stimulating innovative skills through three Innovation Mantras. She explained the three Innovation Mantras Shake your Brain, Understanding & Analyzing the Problem, and Ulta Pulta through various activities and involved the students in those activities in order to get experiential learning in innovative skills. The session ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Abijeet Pandey.

Students gained insights regarding innovative thinking. During the session, students interacted actively and gathered information on mantras for innovation. This session has helped the students to understand the importance of innovative and risky thinking.


Soft Skills Training Session on “Top 3 Careers to Pursue after Graduation”
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a seminar on “Top 3 careers to pursue after graduation” for Second Year BCOM students (All Sections) on 04th February 2023 at 10.00 am in the Main Auditorium M1, Main Block, Kristu Jayanti College. The session aimed at personality enhancement by giving us examples of the lives of other people so that the students could relate and get an insight into what has to be done once they move out into the actual world. The session started with a brief introduction by Ms. Anushka Saxena who introduced the resource person of this seminar and then handed over the session to him. Dr, William Rajan, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering and then questioned the participants about their future plans and how it is important to make future plans a part of our daily life. He enlightened the participants to be conscious about their decisions on careers. He also gave ideas about the Top 3 careers that can be pursued after graduation. The session ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Riyana, Student Coordinator - CSSAT.

Self-Empowerment Session on “Why Anthony Gets Anger?”
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru conducted a 2nd training session on Self-Empowerment on “Why Anthony gets angry?” for second-year BBA students (A, B, C, D Sections) on 9th February 2023 at 01.30 pm at M3, auditorium, Main Block. The session aimed at anger management enhancement with the help of 5 techniques, representing different ways of handling critical situations. The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms Wanshika, Student Coordinator with a welcome address from Mr. Jephin James (student coordinator, CSSAT). Ms. Shalini Singh introduced the Resource person to this webinar and handed over the session to the resource person. Dr. Nidhi R Gupta, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering and took the participants through a small activity, wherein most of the participants put forward their views on – Enraged and Intermittent explosive behaviour. She introduced the participants to 5 techniques for managing anger and the type of thinking each mudra corresponds to. She also applied each mudra and the way of using it to various types of scenarios. Prof. T Somasundaram conveyed his heartful thanks to our Resource Person Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta mam for her interactive and interesting session about Anger management, and to Prof. C. Surendranath Reddy, Head, Department of Management for providing valuable support for organizing this session. The session aimed at personality enhancement such as Attitude Development, Goal Setting, Time Management, Stress Management, Mind Management, & Personality enrichments. The session started with a silent prayer and welcome address by Ms. Riyana E, Student Coordinator, CSSAT. Mr. Justin Perumal, III Sem Life Science student, introduced the resource person and handed the session over to the resource person. Prof. R. Madhusudhanan, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering by contemplating on the lives of inspirational leaders and spoke about time management skills, stress management, and decision making. The session was interactive and the student participants put forward their discussion regarding the improvement techniques and methods. Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a seminar on “Presentation Ninja” for First Year B.Com PAF students on 7th November 2022 at 1:40 pm in M1 Auditorium. The session aimed at the enhancement of public speaking traits and overcoming stage fear with the help of coding and decoding method. The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms. Riyana E who introduced Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta, the Resource person and handed over the session to her. Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta addressed the gathering and took the participants through a coding and decoding quiz, wherein most of the participants put forward their responses enthusiastically. The resource person also announced few surprises as goodies on every right response. She introduced the Ninja Techniques through “Vada Pavs”, which is a code for public speaking skill. Then after, she talked about stage fear and gave practical solutions keeping students in mind. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Nafiya H.

Through the seminar, students gained comprehensive insights regarding “Public Speaking”. During the session, they interacted actively and gathered information on how to tackle stage fear and how to overcome on-spot mistakes and problems from a different perspective. Webinar on Resume Writing
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a webinar on “Resume Writing” for Final Year BCA and B.Sc. (CS) students (All Sections) on 5th November 2022 at 11.00 am through Zoom platform. The webinar aimed to train the Final Year undergraduate students in preparing their resumes for applying for various jobs. The session started with a silent prayer. MC Mr Jephin James from V B.Sc PMCS gave the welcome address and Ms Deyon Rose of V B.Sc CSME introduced the Resource person of this webinar and then handed over the session to Prof. Sen B Mathews. The resource person addressed the gathering by sharing his knowledge and demonstrating how to write a resume for applying for various jobs. He also shared inputs regarding the points to be highlighted in the resume such as the project work done, certificate of different courses completed etc. The session was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr Shawn Biju Thomas of V BCA D.

Students gained better insights regarding resume writing. During the session, students interacted actively and gathered information regarding the preparation of an effective resume according to their domain and updated their resume as per the guidelines to apply for jobs.

Centre of Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a seminar on “Career Transition” for First Year BCOM students of all sections on 19th September, 2022 at 01.45 pm in the Main Auditorium M1, Main Block, Kristu Jayanti College. The session aimed at personality enhancement by giving the students examples of the lives of other people so that they could relate and get an insight into what has to be done once they move out into the actual world. The session started with a brief introduction by Ms. Mythri. L who introduced the resource person of this seminar and then handed over the session to him. Prof. Sen B Mathews, the resource person of the event addressed the gathering and then questioned the participants about aptitude tests and how it is important to make it a part of their daily lives. He enlightened the participants to be conscious about their strengths and weaknesses that will build their confidence and enhance their personalities. He also made the students understand how to proceed with group discussions and enhance their communication skills. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Jephin James.

Soft Skill Training Session on Time Management for Beginners
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized a career enhancement session on “Time Management for Beginners” for First Year II BBA, BCA, B.Sc (CS) & B.Sc (LS) students on 21st May 2022 through Zoom via virtual platform at 02.00 pm. The session’s objective was to provide insights to first year graduate students to acquire the importance of managing time in their personal and professional life.

The session started with a moment of silent prayer followed by the welcome address by Ms.Jennifer, II B.Sc (CSMM). She invited the resource person & handed over the session to the resource person. The resource person was Prof. T. Somasundaram, Department of Management & Head – Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. The session started with interactive questions to the students regarding the value of time in their life.

He shared that each one of us should know the importance of time and value it accordingly. He mentioned the quote which says “Take your time, don’t waste your time”, and emphasized every student has to upgrade themselves in different skills and not get carried away with social media addiction.

Prof.T.Somasundaram had shared various examples to explain the topic in details. The session was according to the mindset of first year students, who have to ponder about the future and the time available to them should be planned effectively in utilizing it. He explained the major techniques to be followed for managing the time and executing the action plan on right time to meet the career goals. The resource person instructed the student to prepare Time management matrix based on the priorities and following it on regular basis in order to avoid lack of time in life. Finally, he concluded the session with the quote “Time Management is Life Management” and motivated the student to do the best in the given time to fulfill the future goals.

Students were interactive and participated enthusiastically in all the questions posed by the resource person and had a very good learning experience. From this session, students were able to identify their choice in their life and got input to work out their interest area to create a pathway for their careers. Students got motivated to enrich their skills and knowledge in their interested area and were able to think of the opportunities for choosing between different career options. During the session, students received much information on how to create and achieve personal and professional success and satisfaction.

“3D Training” Session
Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) on 04th May 2022 organised a “3D Training” session for the second year B.Com & BA Students. The aim of this session is to develop desire in their life and understanding the necessity of taking decision regarding their desire in order to meet their career goals with determination. The session was handled by Prof. Somasundaram who spoke about various aspects of 3D in relation to corporate life which had a deep impact on the students. Resource person gave an explanation on what is 3D and its importance in life and career. 3D stands for Desire, Decision and Determination.

The session focused on the POWER model which shows the student how to identify a problem, examine the options, weigh the consequences of the options whether it is positive or negative then to elect & enact the best option and to review and reflect on the decision that one has chosen. These points of identifying and reflecting on a decision helped the students to make a good decision in their career and life, as a whole it was a new learning experience to the students.

The session was conducted in a very formal and interactive manner. It helped the students to focus more on their career and on how to face the difficulties that come ahead by identifying and enacting the best options that can solve the problem.


Soft Skills Training Session On ‘3D’
Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) Bengaluru organised a Soft Skills Training Session on “3D” for the second year BBA, BCA, B.Sc (CS) & B.Sc (LS) Students (All Sections) on the 7th April 2022 at 03.00 pm through Zoom platform. The session aimed to perceive the 3D’s – Desire, Decision Making and Determination. The session started with a silent prayer. The student coordinator, Mr Sangeeth Mathew of the BCA D session, welcomed the gathering. Ms Priyanka V, introduced the Resource person of the session, Prof. T. Somasundaram and handed over the session to the speaker.

Prof. T. Somasundaram addressed the audience about sixteen basic desires that motivate our activities, the Power Model and the six C’s of decision-making, and the aspects that lead to determination.

The session proved insightful and beneficial to the participants. The proactive participation and interaction from the students and the followed discussion made the session even more fruitful.


Career Orientation Session on New Age Corporate Skills
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized a career enhancement session on “New Age Corporate skills” for Final Year MA (Eco), MA (Eng), MA (JMC), M.Sc (LS) & First year M.Sc (CS), MCA & M.Sc (Counselling) students on 4th April 2022 in Auditorium A3, 5th Floor, Admin Block at 03.00 pm. The session objective is to provide orientation among the first year post graduate students to know about the basic skills to be acquired in relevance for personal and professional development. The session started with the welcome address by Prof.T.Somasundaram, Department of Management & Head – Centre for Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru and the student coordinator Ms. Shreekeerthana introduced the Resource person of the session. The session started with interactive questions to the students regarding choices available in their life to choose their favourite things about their career.

He shared that every student has to upgrade themselves in different skills and not get carried away with social media addiction. He had given success mantra to every student to get the right choice at the right change for the right career in their life and also daily quotes to practice for achieving their success and happiness. Students were interactive and participated enthusiastically in all the questions posed by the resource person and had a very good learning experience.

Corporate Survival Skills

Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) on 18th March 2022 organised a “Corporate Survival Skills” session for the final year B.Com & BA Students. The session was handled by Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director of the Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR), who spoke about various aspects of soft skills in relation to corporate life which had a deep impact on the students. Students were provided with various kinds of solutions in order to cope with the stress in their life as well as in their profession. The session, as well as the resource person, was very knowledgeable, as a whole, it was a new learning experience for the students.

This session provided the students with a strong conceptual and practical framework to build, develop and manage teams as they play an important role in the development of the students’ overall personality, thereby enhancing their career prospects. The session also provided strong practical orientation to the students and helps them in building and improving their skills in communication, the effective use of English, business correspondence, presentations, team building, leadership, time management, group discussions, interviews, and inter-personal skills. it also helped the students in career visioning and planning, effective resume writing and dealing with placement consultants, head hunters, colleagues and managers.

The session was conducted in a very formal, interesting, and interactive manner, which gave ample scope for the students to interact with the resource person and face a wide variety of issues, topics, and situations that they are likely to come across as freshers. Thus, by the end of the “Corporate Survival Skills” session, the students were confident enough to develop and acquire effective attitudes and attributes.

Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) Bengaluru organized a webinar on "Corporate Survival Skills” for final year BBA, BCA, B.Sc (CS) & B.Sc (LS) Students (All Sections) on 2nd March 2022 at 02.15 pm through Zoom platform. The webinar aimed to train the final year undergraduate students in Corporate Survival Skills. The session hosted by Ms Shreekeerthana began with a silent prayer. The faculty coordinator, Dr Shayani Ghosh welcomed the gathering. Ms Gayathri Nair introduced the Resource person of this webinar, Prof. Sen B Mathews and handed over the session to the speaker. Prof. Mathews addressed the audience by sharing his knowledge regarding the intricate aspects of corporate life, the survival struggles and the challenges an individual has to face. He also shared his experience relating to do’s and don’ts to follow in a corporate world. He also shared inputs regarding the whole selection process and what creates a positive first impression, including details about relevant certifications.

Students gained insights regarding corporate skill survival techniques and benefited from the session. During the session, students interacted actively and got additional information regarding the preparation of an effective resume according to their domain and updating their resume as per the guidelines and applying for jobs.


Soft Skill Training Session on “Assertive Skills”
Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, organized a Soft Skill Training session on Assertive Skills for first-year B.Com students at 10.40 am on 28th December 2021 through Zoom platform. The aim of the session was to educate and enlighten everyone about assertiveness. The session started with a silent prayer and introduction of the resource person. The resource person, Prof. T. Somasundaram addressed the students and delivered a session on how to become assertive in life. He enumerated extensively on the difference between passive, assertive and aggressive behaviour. He also shared how beneficial assertive skills can be in life. Towards the end of the session, the resource person shared few questions so that the students could test their own assertive skills.

Students got a lot of insights on what assertiveness is and how it can help in many ways to be successful in life. Students participated enthusiastically and imbibed more information about assertiveness and how important it is for everyone. This session enabled the students to understand the benefits and importance of assertiveness and how they should use it in their daily lives.


International Webinar on “Remarkable Power of Small Habits”
Center for Soft Skills & Aptitude training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru in association Department of Management with organized an International webinar entitled “Remarkable Power of Small Habits” for the second year BBA students on 24th November 2021 at 2.00 pm through Zoom platform. The aim of this webinar is to focus on importance of habits and its impact on individual personality. The session started with a silent prayer and a brief introduction by Ms.Jahnavi V.P. about the Resource person Ms.Indumathi, Quality Consultant & Soft Skill Trainer, Solidsoft Reply Group, UK. Our Resource Person Ms.Indumathi addressed the gathering and started the session by interacting with the students and discussing about the different habits followed on regular basis by each and every individual. She talked about the identity of habits based on the person and stated the way to identify and prove to be part of your life. She explained the way of scoring the habits followed by every individual and how for importance in deciding the life style. The session was well organized and it focuses on the four laws of behavioral change.

GST - (Get! Set! Target!)
Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, organized a motivation session on GST (Get! Set! Target!) for second-year B.Com students at 10.00 am on 12th November 2021 through Zoom platform. The aim of the session is to provide inputs in setting the target and getting ready ourselves to reach the target. The session started with a silent prayer and introduction of the Resource person. Our Resource person Dr. Geethu Anna Mathew addressed the students and delivered a session on setting targets in our career. She presented the different criteria in setting the targets and highlighted the ways of formulating strategies and setting the right paths for achieving goals. She also shared his inputs regarding the techniques involved in setting the targets, making ourselves ready towards the targets, and instructed the students to follow the steps to achieve their target. She insisted to students about attitude in setting the targets and mentioned how it is important for reaching the targets.

Students got a lot of insights regarding setting targets and reaching them by following perfect techniques. Students participated enthusiastically and got more information in preparing themselves in getting ready for achieving their target in their desired career. This session helped the students to understand the various strategies or techniques to be followed to reach their targets perfectly.

Capacity Development Programme on “CAT / MAT / Bank PO / IELTS Exam Orientation Session”
Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training & Centre for Competitive Exams in collaboration with Incubation Centre for Employability Enhancement organized a Capacity Development Programme on “CAT / MAT / Bank PO / IELTS Exam Orientation Session” for all the UG final year students from 9.30 am to 5.15 pm on 11th October 2021 through Zoom platform. The orientation session aimed to orient the students about the different courses and aptitude tests that are required to clear different competitive exams like CAT / MAT / Bank PO / IELTS. Mr. Oliver Abel Vikrant, Founder and Director, ICEE addressed the students about the circle of competencies that one should be aware of to excel in his career. He initially started the session, by motivating the students with the fact that no matter where we are in our lives, if we set our minds to our dreams we can achieve them. He taught the students the importance of ‘attitude’ and that, apart from skill and talent, it is our attitude that will take us far in our lives. Among the multiple real-life examples, he gave to motivate the students, the one that stood out the most was the last story about his nephew and her attitude towards life which is “It’s not over until I win”. He highlighted the need for building competencies to stay highly competitive in the various exams and also suggested ICEE as one solution that would satisfy all the training needs of the students. Mr.Oliver then addressed the students, on the various courses and their structures offered to them by the ICEE which includes CAT, MAT, BANK PO, IELTS, UPSC, GATE, among multiple courses which will help enhance various aspects of the student’s skills. Overall, the session was exceptional and motivating and it gave the students a very good idea as to what they should be pursuing in their future careers.

Students gained insights regarding the different competitive exams and what procedures must be followed to qualify them. During the session, students interacted actively and gathered information on how to prepare themselves to understand and register for such courses. This session has helped the students to understand what strategies must be followed to achieve goals related to such competitive exams.


Aptitude Training Session on "Verbal Ability"
Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized an Aptitude Training Session on "Verbal Ability" for the final year B.Sc. (LS) students (All Sections) on 08th October 2021 at 02.00 pm through Zoom platform. The webinar aimed to train the final year undergraduate students in improving the verbal ability segment of aptitude training. The session started with a welcome address by Dr. P.Roopa, Staff Coordinator; Ms.Lorraine Tissan, V B.Sc. (LS) introduced the Resource person of this training session and handed over the session to Prof.K.Opika. She addressed the gathering by sharing her knowledge pertaining to verbal reasoning with several examples and questionnaires. Students gained practice regarding verbal aptitude. During the session, students interacted actively with the resource person and attempted the shared practice questions.


Training on “Resume Building"
Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized training on “Resume Building” for final year BA students on October 08, 2021, at 11 am through the Zoom app. The webinar aimed to train the final year undergraduate students in preparing themselves for the interview. The session started with the welcome address by the Staff coordinator, Dr.Akhila Variyar. Ms..Jenisha Justin Abraham, V BA student introduced the Resource person of this webinar and handed over the session to him. Prof. Sen B Mathews addressed the gathering by sharing his knowledge regarding resume writing and the importance of a good resume based on his experience with corporates. He also shared the skills and qualities to be included in the resume and stressed the mistakes done by students while writing the resume. The session ended with the vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Deepika Premlal. Ms. Risha Samuel, V BA Student was the Master of the Ceremony.

Students showed a lot of interest in the information shared by the resource person. The participants were very interactive during the Q & A session. Students interacted actively and got additional information regarding the preparation of an effective resume according to their domain.


Career Advancement Skills for Development Professionals
Centre of Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) of Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru in association with the Department of Social Work & Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR) organized “Career Advancement Skills for Development Professionals” for the final year MSW students on 28th September 2021 in Auditorium I, Admin Block from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm. The session aimed at providing inputs on various skills required for employment and career enhancement. The session started with the inauguration ceremony addressed by Dr.Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work and Prof.Sen B Mathews, Director - Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR). The morning session was handled by Prof.T.Somasundaram, Staff Coordinator – Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT), who addressed the students about the various skills to enhance their career according to their employment. He started the session with Name Acronym activity for the students to identify their strength and weakness and followed by that, he insisted the students work out on their skills and expertise area to brand themselves by using different platforms. The resource person addressed the students about creativity skills, which are required for the students to incorporate in their work and also the importance of problem solving skills and assertive skills required for all kinds of jobs. Finally, he insisted the students to grab the opportunities to decide their career choice for their growth and development.

The afternoon session was addressed by Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director - Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR). He interacted with the students by conducting various activities regarding their career skills and guided them in developing career skills for better employment. He shared his knowledge regarding resume writing and the importance of a good resume based on his experience with corporates. Sen sir given inputs regarding the interview process, selection process and what kind of skills the corporate expects in to get into their career.

Students gained insights regarding career skills and employment opportunities. This session gave a lot of inputs and guidelines to students regarding the preparation of an effective resume, enhancing various career skills and interview techniques, which are required for them to enhance their skills and knowledge to get their dream job in their career.


Workshop on Career Orientation session
Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) in association with the Department of Computer Science (PG) organized Career Orientation session for V Sem MCA, III Sem MCA/M.Sc (CS) on 18th September 2021 through the Zoom platform. The session aimed at making students understand the importance of occupation, skills and career pathways. Also specializing in a domain and attaining a job, assisting students to comprehend their aspiration, defining immediate employment goals, engaging in job training and acquiring relevant skills, support for career advancement, job maintenance and additional opportunities for professional further education. The program was organized to prep up the students for creating their brand in the company starting with a very impactful outstanding knowledge in their domain and get placed. The speaker started the session by explaining the importance of identifying one’s interests and exploring job opportunities in their field. Sir explained the jobs available in the IT industry, and non-IT industry. There are service-based and product-based companies. One can start anywhere in this field of computers and scale up and reach higher heights. Office management services, Allied services, Infrastructure management services, software service management having system and application software domains also have various jobs. He explained that an interviewee must be specialized in at least one domain and every student must do smart work first and hard work later by being flexible in learning any technology fast and clear. One should sell one’s strongest skills and accomplishments and be favourably competitive on the job market. In general, one must be very clear about their career objective and communicate concisely the benefits they will bring to the company if hired. The speaker Mr. Dharmendra V gave away a few tips to help the resume stand out, how to personal brand and where to specialize in their interested domain. The session was completely interactive as many students kept answering to sir’s questions in between and asked few doubts to have a crystal-clear career objective. Sir patiently answered all the questions one by one and encouraged students to be more active and energetic. Attendees had an enriching session from the talk on the importance of recognizing one’s career, tips in specializing in it and making a perfect brand of oneself.

Attendees had a clear idea and already mind mapped a good career in their minds. They received the exact information in which they had various doubts. And kept all details in mind as mentioned by the resource person, Mr. Dharmendra V, Founder & CEO, NetCraftz, Bengaluru. Students thanked sir for a helpful and good session on the topics of specializing in one’s interest and making it a career and personal branding.


Webinar on Goal Settings
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a webinar on “Goal Settings “the Second Year BCA, B.Sc. (CS) & B.Sc. (LS) students (All Sections) on 23rd September 2021 at 02.15 pm through Zoom platform. The webinar aimed to train the second year undergraduate students in goal setting. The session was started with a silent prayer and brief introduction by Mr. Jephin James; Dr. P Roopa staff coordinator gave the welcome address; Ms.Swetha M.A. introduced the Resource person of this webinar and handed over the session. Prof. Stephen Deepak addressed the gathering by sharing his knowledge regarding the intricate aspects of goal settings. He explained the strategies and techniques that must be followed for setting as well as achieving goals. He also shared his inputs regarding the techniques involved in setting long term and short term goals. He shared his experience relating to do’s and don’ts of setting any goals. The session was ended with a vote of thanks by Ms.Neha Sunil.

Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations was the resource person for the day. Sir addressed the students about how to create high quality and perfect resume. He underlined the importance of creating a strong resume when it comes to choose a professional career. Sir demonstrated how to write resume and highlighted the key points to make the resume a catchy one. It was a fruitful session for all the final year students who were waiting for a professional career.

Centre for Soft skills & Aptitude training in association with Centre for employability and corporate relations organized a Webinar on "Resume Building" for the Final Year B.Com students on 31st August 2021 at 10.30 am through Zoom platform. Resource Person Prof.Sen B Mathews, Director – Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations addressed the students on building a quality and effective resume. He emphasized the significance of resume building in setting the right career path. He showed the format of writing a resume and also shared certain key points in listing down one’s career objectives, strengths, weakness and achievements. It happened to be a good warm-up session for all the final year students as they are ready to hit the placement ground for their final academic performance and for a successful career.


Personality Development Session on Building & Nurturing Relationships
Forming relationships is an essential trait in humankind. Man is a social animal and needs to thrive through the relationships he forms with society around him. Family relations, workplace relations, peer relations and even relationship with God are considered as necessary relationships for every successful man. To instill better relationship-friendly nature in students and to make them aware of the challenges in maintaining good relations and also to help them overcome such challenges, the Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST) at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore organized a personality development session for the first year BA and B Com students.

The session began with a silent prayer followed by the welcome address by Prof. Jeremiah Justus. M who welcomed the gathering and the resource person. Student volunteer Ms. Pooja, II B Com introduced the resource person Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability & Corporate relations, Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore.

Prof. Sen B Mathews started off by using some case examples during his vast experience in career counselling and used that to explain to students of the need to maintain good relations with peer groups. He took them through the 4 habits, which enable good relationship practices in man – Be curious but not critical, be careful but not crushing, ask but don’t assume and connect before you correct. He explained how these are very helpful habits in inter-personal relationships both between peers, at workplaces and even within families.

Then he went on to encourage students to always ensure to be cordial with people they interact with in daily life. He urged them to be thankful for what life has given them in the form of a good family, resources and good education. He instilled the understanding that all of us must be in relationship with God as well and be thankful for life and the goodness attached with it. The resource person also detailed some examples of past students and other industry leaders whom he had counseled and how they had built upon relationship goals which they desired from their young age. He explained the secret to their success and encouraged student participants also to carry on with such a vision. Finally, the resource person also took questions from the students and answered them patiently.

Students gained understanding on the different challenges in maintaining good relationship. They could understand the ways in which they can evolve to have better relationships in today’s challenging world. Tips were given by the resource person to help them tackle the challenges and change them into better relationship-handlers.


Motivational Session on Master
Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru in association with Department of Management (BBA) organized an motivational session on “Master – Training as a Career” for final year BBA – HR Specialization students on 27th March 2021 at 10.45 am through Zoom platform. The session aims to create awareness among the students about various platforms available to choose their career as a trainer. The session was moderated by Mr.Reon George, VI BBA student and given warm welcome and introduced the Resource person of this session Prof.T.Somasundaram, Assistant Professor, Department of Management & Staff Incharge, Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST), Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and handed the session over to him.

The resource person started the session with 3C’s required to reach training as a career and explained how the training helps to bridge the gap between existing and required skills among the students. Prof.T.Somasundaram stated the different types of trainer’s career available in the market and the students have to choose their choice to become a trainer in the respective domain. He pointed the concepts of training in different dimensions like coaching, teaching, mentor, learning, experience, development, soft skills, etc. among the students and insisted them to analyze their strength in the respective domain to become a trainer. In this session, the basic differences between hard and soft skills were explained and also demand for the training markets in global level. He narrated life story of various trainers, speakers, motivational speakers, monks, etc. and motivated them the students to take a chance as a trainer in their life. He mentioned the knowledge and skills required for each student to differentiate themselves and also pointed out several books to go through it in their career to become a Trainer. He shared the various training platforms like ISTD, IATD & JCI India to start their career as a trainer and informed the students to make use of it. Finally, Ms.Sarvya, VI BBA student given vote of thanks at the end of the session.

A total of 40 students from final year BBA – HR Specialization students took part in the motivational session. Students have interacted with the resource person and shared their views in choosing trainer as a career. Most the students are motivated by the resource person to take a chance for becoming trainer in their career. The participants are very interactive during Q & A session and enthusiastic towards the end of the session.

From this session, students got awareness about the training concepts, knowledge and skills required to become a trainer. This session helped the students to gain knowledge about various dimensions in training job, its demand and opportunities in the global market. Students got various information like platforms for training job, different types of trainers, few motivational books, etc. to choose trainer as a career. During the session, students interacted actively and got additional information about the training job and skills required for a trainer and enriching their career in new directions.

Soft skills training session on “Online Etiquette” was organized for the final year BBA, MA, MCA, M.Sc. (CS) & First year MCA students of Kristu Jayanti College by the Centre for Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru on 27th March 2021 at 12.15 pm through Zoom platform. The session aims to teach the students about the various etiquette to be followed in their work and business. The session was moderated by Ms.Jisha, VI BBA students and Prof.T.Somasundaram, Staff Incharge, CSST given the welcome address. Mr.Reon George, VI BBA students introduced the Resource person of this session Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and handed the session over to him.

Prof.Sen B Mathew started the session by pointing the recent practices followed by the corporate in new normal situation. He stated the various rules and procedures to be learned and followed for online etiquette in their work. He also gave essential tips on how to practice online etiquette in their job as well as in business according to the expectation level of corporate in present situation. He pointed out that the various measures and criteria followed in online etiquette for dealing the clients and partners in business in present corporate world. It includes different levels of etiquette in the business and also various guidelines about verbal and non-verbal behaviours of online etiquette. He shared few instructions and guidelines to be followed during online interview and also netiquette behaviours. He interacted with the students and demonstrated them about various etiquette during online interview and informed the students to follow it. Finally, Ms.Amy Dennis, VI BBA student given vote of thanks at the end of the session.

He encouraged the students to follow the various online etiquette practices on regular basis. Interactive Session on Interview Techniques
The Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized an Interactive Session on “Interview Techniques” for the final year BSc (Life Science) students in association with the Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, on 27th March 2021 at 9.45 am through the Zoom app. The session aimed to train the final year under graduate students on how to face interviews in an efficient and productive manner. The session was started with a welcome address by the faculty coordinator Prof. Aloysius Sebastian. The Resource Person was Mr Sumon Sarkar, Associate Recruiter – Global Talent Advisors, Convance by Labcorp, Bengaluru. He addressed the gathering by sharing his knowledge regarding how to face interviews based on his experience in recruiting candidates. He explained to the students what they ought to be careful of while attending a job interview, and he also advised them on certain things to be avoided while attending an interview. A total of 81 students from final year B.Sc. (Life Science) took part in the interactive session. The students showed much interest in the interactive session.

The students gained insights on interview techniques. The interactive session gave a lot of inputs and guidelines on how to attend job interviews very effectively.


Soft Skills Training Session on Online Etiquette
The Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST), Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized an online Session on "Online Etiquette" on 20th March 2021 at 9.15 am. The program was conducted for the Final Year BA and B.Com Students. The Program started with a silent prayer followed by the formal introduction by Mr.T. Somasundaram, Co-ordinator, Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST). Ms. Ritwika from VI BA JPCS was the MC for the program. Dr.Deepthi Vijayan from Department of Psychology delivered the Welcome address and Ms.Lakshitha Jain, VI B.Com C Introduced the Resource person to the crowd. Prof. Suku Thomas Samuel from Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru was the resource person for the day. He talked about Online Etiquette and stressed on the topics like online etiquette Rules which Students Should Know, Proper use of language and issues related to privacy etc. After the session the resource person clarified various queries raised by the participants. The program was ended by an official vote of Thanks given by Ms.Nithya from VI B.Com.

A total of 520 students from final year BA & B.Com students took part in the soft skills training session. He encouraged the students to follow the PDCA approach regarding online etiquette practices on regular basis. Centre of Soft Skills Training of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized an enrichment session on “Mind Shift” for second year BBA and B.Com – Batch 2 & 4 students on 27th February 2021 at 9.15 am through Zoom platform. The webinar aims to train the second year under graduates students in learning and changing their mind-set according to today’s environment and taking their career in new directions. The session was moderated by Ms.Angel Elizabeth Joseph, IV BBA students and Prof.T.Somasundaram, Staff Incharge, CSST given the welcome address. Mr.Noel Jacob, IV BBA students introduced the Resource person of this session Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and handed the session over to him.

Prof.Sen B Mathew started pointing the importance of mind shift in present situation. He pointed out that, in present corporate world, developing a growth mindset requires a set of small mindset shifts in each and every activity. It includes believing in ability to grow and change, seeing challenges as opportunities, focusing on progress instead of results, prioritizing learning over seeking approval and rewarding yourself for your effort and not just the outcome. He narrated the mind shift process through different examples and insisted the students to learn and follow the same in their career. He also gave essential tips on how to adopt mind shift by following the Pomodoro technique. He explained the Pomodoro technique with the help of beginner’s guide and also various steps to be followed on regular basis to bring changes in the mind. He shared the website links and other sources about the Pomodoro technique and informed the students to follow it. Finally, Ms.Merin Leena, IV BBA student given vote of thanks at the end of the session.

A total of 468 students from second year BBA and B.Com – Batch 2 & 4 students took part in the enrichment session. Students have shown lot of interest in this session and encouraged by the resource person to follow the steps to bring changes in the mind. Public Speaking Skills are essential communication skills which every individual must possess. These are skills which aid individuals to be able to communicate their message in a clear and understandable manner and to be able to transfer the idea into the listeners. Public speaking has in the past shaped many world and corporate leaders. It is a highly sought after skill and it is very necessary to instill knowledge and training for these skills into today’s students.

To enrich the young students with ‘public speaking skills’, the Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST) organized an enrichment session titled ‘Public Speaking Skills’ for second year BCA, B.Sc. (PME & MSE) and B.Sc. Students. The session was moderated by Mr. Thomas Sabu, IV Sem. B.Sc. MSE who invoked God’s blessings for the session. The gathering was welcomed by Prof. Jeremiah Justus. M, Staff coordinator, CSST who gave an overview of public speaking and the skills involved with it. Ms. Aakanksha Sunil, IV Sem. B.Sc. Forensic Science introduced the resource person Dr. Jonas Richard, Director – Centre for Life Skills Education, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and handed the session over to him.

Dr. Jonas started off by explaining the need for public speaking skills. He explained how this generation is a highly lucky generation because they have so many opportunities to make a living. He explained how YouTubers are the new generation influencers and how it’s easy to relate to such success stories. He took the students through some of the tips of public speaking that he had learnt through his career. He explained how a public speech must be initiated – not to start with an apology, use a quote, or a relatable story. Then he went on to give tips on how to frame the speech – to include relevant material to the topic, use media tools to represent thoughts etc. He also gave essential tips on how to end the speech – by consolidating the speech in takeaway messages. He also shared a video of a motivational talk and how the public speech was drafted in relatable manner and how it ended with punchlines to take the message into the listener.

He encouraged the students to take up public speaking in an early age. He motivated them to keep trying – use mirror rehearsals, try on phones using selfie cameras etc. He finally concluded with how public speeches can be started in the classrooms itself when they take up the cultural and co-curricular activities. Finally he took questions from the students and answered them patiently.

The session was started with welcome address and the staff coordinator Dr.Sivasubramanian introduced the Resource person of this session Prof.T.Somasundaram, Department of Management & Head – Centre for Soft Skills Training, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. The session started with the interactive questions with the students regarding choice available in their life to choose their favourite things about the career. He quoted the statement “Life is a Choice”, which indicates that, our life is full of choice and it is our responsibility to make the right choice. In this session, the resource person narrated the story of Indian Cricket Player Mr.Natarajan &ID Batter CEO Mr.Mustafa’s career growth based on choice and chance they had in their life.

He shared the SWOT analysis and Goal setting process among the students to upgrade themselves in different skills in order to create a good career. He gave the success mantra to every student to make the right choice for the right career in their life and also daily quotes to practice for achieving their career goals.

Dr.Deepthi Vijayan, Staff Coordinator has welcomed the gatherings and introduced the Resource person of this interactive session Ms.Kezhia Sharieff, Creative Analyst, Yahoo, Bengaluru. Ms.Kezhia has started the session by stating her own career growth and education background that she experienced from the college. She stated certain important steps to carry out in their career journey to fulfill their desired jobs in their life. She explained about the various opportunities for the students from Humanities background and also gave valuable tips to enrich their skills and knowledge to grab their dream jobs. She narrated different models for self – assessment among the students to upgrade their knowledge and becoming a qualified candidate for the interview to get their dream job. According to the present situation, every students has to improve their soft skills and get updated through various learning platforms

A total of 74 students from final year BA students took part in the interactive session. Every student participated enthusiastically and interacted with the resource person and got lot of insights about the interview techniques.

Attitude is simply a clear understanding of one’s thinking process. It can help an individual control his thoughts and handle daily routine issues and newly encountered problems or developments in a more calm and composed manner. In today’s busy & challenging world our attitude counts for every progress that we make in our personal and professional front. With the advent of the pandemic, the human race has understood how there is no problem that is unsolvable and this is due to the attitude of “Never Give Up”.

To promote and train young students on how ‘attitude matters’, the Center for Soft Skills Training (CSST) organized an expert lecture titled ‘Attitude matters’ for second year B Com students. Prof. Jeremiah Justus. M began the expert lecture with a silent prayer followed by a welcome address and introduction of the resource person, Prof. K.Opika, School of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.

She started the lecture by defining ‘attitude’ and helped the students understand the right meaning of attitude in today’s world. She encouraged the students to modify their attitude to everyday problems and to look around and create opportunities for themselves. She had a self-assessment session where the students could interact with the resource person in the form of questions and answers and assessed themselves to understand their level of attitude.

She concluded by revealing the interpretation of the assessment and explained to the students how they fared and also gave tips for better management of their attitude. She emphasized the need for healthy practices, mindfulness, meditation, positive thinking and good inter-personal relationships which could help them in improving their attitude. Finally she took questions from the students and answered them patiently.

The session was started with welcome address and the staff coordinator Prof.T.Somasundaram introduced the Resource person of this session Dr.Geethu Anna Mathew, Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. Dr.Geethu started interacting with the students by asking questions related to attitude in order to know the students attitude level. He discussed about the attitude and its benefits in order to enrich the students to improve their right attitude. He shared certain examples related to attitude and also explained about the various qualities needed to enrich the attitude level of the students He spoke about the concept of positive thinking needed for emotional and mental attitude in order to focus on the good and benefits of the students to get the expected results.

He shared the certain skill sets needed for every student to brand themselves and to meet their employability goals. He explained about the four important steps for branding process and the strategies to follow those steps in life to promote them to maximum level and achieve their career goals. Positive and negative thinking are both contagious, and their results are obvious. Attitude can cause future fortune and future disaster. The training was conducted to improve the positive learning space and to understand to deal with negativity.

Training Programme on Attitude Matters organized by Centre for Soft Skills Training commenced at 10:45 am on 21st November 2020 with a silent prayer. Prof.Shanthi Joseph, Department of English delivered the welcome address and Prof.Akhila Variyar, Department of English introduced the resource person Dr. Geethu Anna Mathew, Department of Management. Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru. She started the session with a quote from Helen Killer -“When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” She insisted on the importance of positive thinking and how to remove the negative thoughts from the mind. She gave valuable inputs on self-confidence and self-love to live a better life. It was an interactive session and encouraged students to share their experiences. The right attitude of the person improves well-being and boost immunity. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Prof.Shanthi Joseph and feedback form was collected from the students.

The orientation was exclusively for the newly appointed soft skill trainers to give a glimpse of the vision and mission of the Centre for Soft Skills Training. Dr.Jonas Richard engaged the faculty members with ideas and explanations on the importance of the training for students and the programs that help the students to grow well in their career. He started the session on effective soft skill training and the importance of language, team building, leadership, and management. He further explained how to adapt the methodology of training on different skills and how to train the students in acquisition of the soft skills. The plan and methods for the future training were discussed. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Prof.Jeremiah Justus.

The training session was initiated to improve positive thinking in students. The world, which is covered with pandemic, induces negative thoughts of fear and anxiety about their present and the uncertain future. To motivate students towards a positive and hopeful attitude and to enrich them for a better future. BA II years were the target audience as they are beneficiary of the training to improve the skills, which they need to use in the near future for a better career and life.

The power of positive thinking helps you believe in yourself, to deal with failures, and how to move forward were informed to the students with examples from different sources as well as from the speaker himself. The subconscious mind and the power of thinking was delivered to students along with tricks to avoid ego and neutralization of ego.

Mindfulness is simply a clear, non-judgmental awareness of your inner and outer worlds. It is the control a person has over his mind and body. Presence refers to the stability of mindfulness, which means the degree to which you are grounded in awareness. Mindful presence is a matter of great concern in today’s fast changing world. With the advent of the pandemic, terms like social distancing and news of ill-health have made people lose their balance and grounding in life.

To promote and train young students in ‘mindful presence’, the Centre for Soft Skills Training (CSST) organized a training session titled ‘Presence of mind’ for second year BBA students. The expert lecture was inaugurated by Prof. C. Surendaranath Reddy, Head, Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College who delivered the welcome address and gave an overview of mindful presence and its importance. Prof. Jeremiah Justus.M then introduced the resource person Prof. Stephen Deepak, School of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.

He started on an interactive note, wherein he conducted a quiz titled ‘Know for yourself’ and helped the students understand what is their self-assessment with regard to ‘mindful presence’. He followed the lecture by explaining the various benefits of mindful presence and the need for it. He also addressed ways in which one can improve his/her level of ‘mindful presence’.

He encouraged the students to look around, create opportunities and improve their presence of mind. He finally concluded by explaining ‘Stephen Covey’s circle of concern and circle of influence’ which the students can use to evaluate themselves and understand their needs and improve themselves. Finally he took questions from the students and answered them patiently.

He also opined that, resume is an informational document, which contains one’s career story, outlining and all details in an easily read format. The resource person also added the things to “do and not to do ” in the preparation of a resume. The resource person also cleared the various doubts and questions raised by the students.
