Dr. Priya Josson Akkara is a distinguished academic with over 25 years of experience in both academia and industry. She currently serves as the Coordinator for PG Programmes in the Department of Life Sciences at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru. Dr. Priya’s academic achievements include being the University First Rank Holder in both BSc Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University (1990) and MSc Biochemistry from Kerala University (1992). She was recognized with the Certificate of Merit by the Society of Biological Chemists and received several scholarships, including the University and State Merit Scholarships. She continued her education with an MPhil in Biochemistry from Kerala University and a PhD from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT).
Her professional experience spans prestigious institutions in India and abroad. Dr. Priya is specialized in Biochemistry and Industrial Biotechnology, with certifications in ISO standards, Safety, Health, and Environmental Statutory Compliances. Her research interests include pharmacology and toxicology, extracellular matrix proteins, cell culture studies, environmental science, and phytochemistry. She has published articles, books, and a patent, and has served as reviewer and associate editor. As a member of IQAC, she is actively involved in the quality and accreditation process. Her contributions to environmental initiatives earned her the Lilavati Award for Women Empowerment in Environment, highlighting her dedication and impact in these critical areas.
