Humantra 2025-2026
The Department of Social Sciences and Languages, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed-to-be) University, organized its annual intra-university fest Humantra on 24 September 2025. The fest was held on the theme “Manav Aayaam: Celebrating the Human Mosaic” and was graced by the presence of Shri Sundar Veena, a renowned actor, writer, and director in the Kannada film industry.
The programme commenced with the Presidential Address by Fr. Joshy Mathew, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) and Director, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He reiterated that Humantra acts as a platform where learning transforms into a shared space for dialogue and discovery, fostering unity and intellectual exchange. This was followed by the Inaugural Address by Shri Sundar Veena. He emphasized that beyond conventional education, cultural events provide students with the opportunity to mould themselves, nurture their minds, and shape their personalities. His address further underlined the importance of a human dimension in all spheres of life, rooted in the values of honesty and truth. After the inauguration, the day unfolded with a series of competitions organized by the sub-departments of History, Political Science, Sociology, Hindi, and Kannada. The Department of History hosted History Jeopardy, a quiz competition, and Decoding the Pharaoh’s Code, where students interpreted Egyptian hieroglyphs. The Department of Political Science conducted Escape Room, based on puzzles related to political ideas, thoughts, and thinkers, along with Democracy Dash – The Political Bingo, where participants identified definitions of political terms and completed their bingo sheets. The Department of Sociology organized Snapshot Sociology, in which students assumed specific identities to critically analyze given topics, and Persona Perspective, which encouraged participants to view society through a deeper sociological lens by interpreting pictures with hidden meanings—enabling them to recognize aspects of social life that often go unnoticed. Additionally, the Departments of Hindi and Kannada organized creative writing and extempore competitions, which encouraged linguistic creativity and expression. Overall, Humantra 2025–2026 emerged as a vibrant celebration of the human mosaic, successfully blending knowledge, creativity, and cultural engagement.
Intra Collegiate Fest HUMANTRA 2023, Theme: Sanskriti Sangam: Exploring Diversity
The Department of Social Sciences and Languages organized annual Intracollegiate fest “HUMANTRA” on 27th October 2023. This year’s theme was “Sanskriti Sangam: Exploring Diversity.” Rev. Fr. Joshy P Mathew, Head, Department of English, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) graced the occasion with the Presidential Address. The Chief Guest, Prof. Hamsini Nagendra, Prof. from Bangalore University and a famous vocalist, enlightened the students with her motivational speech. This fest was opened for all students from the Department of Social Sciences and Languages. There were eight events from five sub-departments. These eight events were organized simultaneously in different venues.
Students actively participated and exhibited their hidden talents to the audiences.
HUMANTRA’20: Celebrating Lives and More
The second week of December 2020 marked the beginning of the first ever virtual model of the greatest intra-collegiate fest HUMANTRA and marked a milestone in the history of fests in Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore. This four-day extravaganza was conducted by the Department of Social Sciences and Languages, with the theme “Celebrating Lives and More.’’ The fest started on 9th December 2020 from 4:30pm with three gripping events and continued to engage the students with four days of virtual platform of possibilities.
Inauguration:
The inaugural session of the fest began on 12 December 2020 at 9:30 am with the invocation by the college choir. The Welcome address was given by Prof. S. J Michael, Coordinator, Department of Social Sciences and Languages, followed by the Introduction to the fest given by Dr. Gopakumar A. V, Dean, Faculty of Humanities. The Principal of Kristu Jayanti College, Rev. Dr. Augustine George graced the occasion with the Presidential Address. The Introduction of the Chief Guest was done by Ms. Pooja P. Patil. The Chief Guest, Dr. Rohma Javed Rashid, Faculty, Department of History and Culture at Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, enlightened the students with her words that centered primarily on how the study of Humanities is beyond classrooms and textbooks. Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Amala George, Student Coordinator of Humantra’20. and the Inaugural session ended with the Jayantian Anthem.
Valedictory Ceremony:
The fest concluded with a Valedictory ceremony held on 12th December 2020 at 4 PM. The program started with the Invocation song by the College Choir. The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Ceremony was Fr. Lijo P. Thomas, Financial Administrator of Kristu Jayanti College. The Welcome Address was given by Mr. Hemango Akshay Hiwale, Faculty Coordinator of Humantra’20. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Fr. Lijo P. Thomas. Fr. Lijo spoke about the events that were conducted and praised the department for their efforts. Ms. Rukmini Kakoty, Faculty Coordinator of Humatra’20 declared the prize winners. Team Shastri won 1st place. Team Karnad and Team Thapar won 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Mark Alwin Yesudas, Student Coordinator of Humantra’20. Finally, the event was concluded with the Jayantian Anthem.
