B.Sc. Physics, Mathematics (PHMM)

The Dual Major B.Sc. Programme in Physics and Mathematics is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both the fundamental principles of physics and the analytical rigor of mathematics. The programme integrates theoretical and experimental aspects of physics with advanced mathematical methods, fostering interdisciplinary competence essential for scientific research, data analysis, and problem solving.

Physics is the study of nature in an attempt to understand how the universe behaves. The study, from the smallest subatomic particle to the largest galaxies, enables the students to apply this knowledge to analyse physical phenomena and problem-solving in scientific aspects. The study of physics creates new ideas, methods to solve daily life problems and it motivates to formulate new scientific theories and stimulates to find new innovation in a digital era.

Mathematics is a fundamental part of human thought and logic and integral to attempts at understanding the world and ourselves. It is a diverse discipline that deals with data, measurements and observations from science, with inference, deduction, and proof, and with mathematical models of natural phenomena of human behaviour and of social systems. Mathematics provides an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. Mathematics is applied in various fields and disciplines like science, engineering, economics and helps in understanding subjects like music and art too.
