Open Source and Coding Club

The Open Source and Coding Club is a flagship student-led initiative that cultivates technical excellence through collaborative learning, programming, and open innovation. The club provides an inclusive platform where students strengthen their coding proficiency, solve real-world problems, and contribute to impactful technology-driven initiatives while embracing the principles of open-source development.

The club promotes a culture of innovation through coding competitions, hackathons, technical workshops, developer meetups, project-based learning, and peer mentoring. By engaging in hands-on activities and collaborative projects, students enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, software development practices, and teamwork. The club also encourages participation in national and international coding competitions, open-source programs, and innovation challenges, enabling members to benchmark their skills against global standards.

Expert Session on "Education To Execution: Navigating the Transition to Enterprise Technology"

The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computational and Physical Sciences at Kristu Jayanti University, organized an Expert Talk along with the inauguration of the Open Source and Coding Club on 19th August 2026. The session featured Mr. Sajan Rhine, Subject Matter Expert, as the resource person for the 3rd year BCA C & F students.

With over 35 years of rich experience spanning manufacturing, information technology, business operations, and management, Mr. Rhine shared invaluable perspectives on career progression, leadership, and professional resilience. He recounted key moments from his own journey, emphasizing how embracing unfamiliar challenges can unlock significant growth. A major highlight was his seamless transition into IT at Oracle, where he successfully spearheaded complex IT projects despite having no prior technical background.

Addressing the students, Mr. Rhine highlighted that a lack of initial domain knowledge should never be a barrier to seizing new opportunities. Instead, stepping outside one's comfort zone serves as a powerful catalyst for continuous learning, confidence building, and adaptability in today’s evolving industry landscape.

The interactive session left students inspired, equipping them with practical guidance on transitioning effectively from academic concepts to enterprise technology execution.
