WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity) Student Chapter – Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) is part of the global WiCyS community dedicated to advancing the role of women in the field of cybersecurity. The chapter provides a collaborative platform for students to engage in knowledge sharing, skill development, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

A key initiative of the chapter is its mentorship programme, where students (mentees) are guided by experienced industry professionals (mentors). This program bridges academic learning with industry expertise, offering students valuable insights, career guidance, and exposure to real-world cybersecurity practices.

Through seminars, workshops, competitions, and outreach programs, the WiCyS Student Chapter aims to empower students to explore cybersecurity, foster inclusivity, and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The chapter envisions creating a supportive community that nurtures leadership, innovation, and ethical responsibility in the digital era.

WiCyS Spark: Where Curiosity Meets Cybersecurity
Date: 17 September 2025
The Department of Computer Science (UG), in association with the WiCyS Club at Kristu Jayanti University, organized an expert talk titled “WiCyS Spark: Where Curiosity Meets Cybersecurity” on 17th September 2025 at the Science Block.

The session was conducted by WiCyS members and aimed to introduce students to the diverse domains and career opportunities within the field of cybersecurity. It also highlighted the global mission of WiCyS-to recruit, retain, and advance women in cybersecurity by fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

The speakers emphasized the growing significance of cybersecurity in today’s digital era, portraying it as a critical necessity rather than just a future career option. They elaborated on the opportunities offered by WiCyS, including mentorship, internships, scholarships, and leadership development, which enable students to connect with professionals and experts worldwide.

Various domains within cybersecurity were discussed, such as Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Digital Forensics and Incident Response, Cloud and Network Security, AI in Security, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). Each area was explained with its practical applications and potential career pathways, including roles like Security Analyst, Incident Responder, Cloud Security Engineer, and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

The session also addressed common misconceptions about cybersecurity, highlighting it as a multidisciplinary field accessible to individuals from diverse academic backgrounds. It concluded with an encouraging message to students to actively explore the field and contribute towards building a secure digital future.


Transformative Mentorship

The Department of Computer Science (UG) organized an insightful and interactive session titled “Transformative Mentorship” on 2nd August 2025, led by Ms. Shristee Rawat. The session encouraged students to reflect on self-growth, explore different mentorship styles, and understand the significance of setting SMART goals for personal and professional development.

Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, Ms. Shristee highlighted how effective mentorship goes beyond guidance — fostering mutual learning, empowerment, and meaningful transformation. The session inspired participants to cultivate a growth mindset and embrace mentorship as a lifelong journey of learning and self-improvement.


Agile Thinking
Date: 18 July 2025
The Department of Computer Science (UG) organized an engaging session titled “Think. Build. Evolve: The Agile Way for 21st Century Minds” on 18th July 2025, featuring Ms. Bhavna Sharma as the resource person. The session offered a dynamic introduction to Agile practices, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, resilience, and collaboration in navigating today’s VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world.

Ms. Bhavna illustrated how Agile thinking fosters innovation, continuous improvement, and team synergy in both academic and professional environments. Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, students gained insights into applying Agile principles for effective teamwork and value-driven growth.

The session inspired participants to adopt a flexible mindset and embrace change as a catalyst for progress in their future careers.


The Launch of the WiCyS Mentorship Programme
Date: 13 July 2025
The WiCyS Student Chapter at Kristu Jayanti University, in collaboration with the WiCyS India Affiliate and the Department of Computer Science (UG), officially launched the WiCyS Mentorship Programme on 13th July 2025.

The event marked a significant step toward empowering women in cybersecurity by connecting students with experienced mentors from industry. The programme is designed to follow a learning-by-doing model, with a strong emphasis on project-based learning, professional development, and technical skill-building in key cybersecurity domains such as digital forensics, responsible AI, enterprise security, and identity management.

Participants were introduced to a structured mentorship pathway that includes interactive learning sessions, hands-on guidance, and industry exposure. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications, helping students become confident and career-ready professionals in the cybersecurity field.

The launch session was both informative and inspiring, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones, engage with evolving technologies, and actively pursue mentorship as a means of growth. This programme is expected to cultivate a strong, supportive network of future women leaders in cybersecurity.
