WiDS Club

The Women in Data Science Club of our department is a platform that inspires, educates, and connects female students with opportunities in data science and AI. The club organizes talks, workshops, and datathons to build technical skills, foster collaboration, and promote inclusivity in the field of data-driven technologies. It empowers students to become confident data science practitioners and contribute meaningfully to the global WiDS movement.

WiDS Connect:Datathon Orientation
Date: 11 December 2025
“WiDS Connect:Datathon Orientation” was a two day program organized by the Department of Computer Science, School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti University, in collaboration with Women in Data Science (WiDS). The event was designed for II and III year WiDS members to introduce them to the “WiDS Datathon” steps and procedures. Day 1 was held on 11/12/2025 at 12:50 pm in venue M201, and Day 2 was held on 12/12/2025 at 12:50 pm in venue M201. The program aimed to empower participants with data science skills and prepare them for the WiDS Datathon challenges. It provided a platform for networking and learning.

Study Jam on Qlik Sense
Date: 09 September 2025
The Study Jam on Qlik Sense, organized by the Department of Computer Science, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with WiDS provided for Bsc. Data Science and BCA Analytics, Bsc. AI & ML for the II and III year students with the objective of hands on exposure to Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.

This session covered Qlik overview, data loading, data modelling, creating visualization and exploring advanced features. Students learned how to build dashboards, analyze data patterns, apply best practices in visualization and storytelling. Through interactive practice and guidance, the workshop emphasized developing data literacy, empowering participants to transform raw data into meaningful insights using Qlik.

Study Jam on Qlik Sense
Date: 10 to 12 September 2025
The Study Jam on Qlik Sense, organized by the Department of Computer Science, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with WiDS, was conducted for B.Sc. Data Science, BCA Analytics, and B.Sc. AI & ML II-year students 10th -12th September 2025 at 4:30 pm with the objective of providing hands-on exposure to Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.

Demystifying Data Science: Career Paths and Industry Trends

The Department of Computer Science at Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru, proudly inaugurated its Women in Data Science (WiDS) chapter with a successful launch event. As part of the program, the WiDS logo was officially unveiled, marking a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to promoting women in technology and data-driven fields.

The highlight of the event was a session on “Demystifying Data Science: Career Paths and Industry Trends” delivered by Ms. Shalini Dave, Development Senior Analyst at Accenture, Bengaluru. Drawing from her rich industry experience, she shed light on the evolving landscape of data science, the latest industry trends, and diverse career paths that students can explore.

The insightful session offered practical guidance and motivation, empowering students to envision their future in the rapidly growing field of data science. The event not only celebrated the launch of the WiDS chapter but also inspired participants to pursue opportunities with confidence and enthusiasm.
