The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College organized an insightful career guidance session on February 12, 2025, led by Mr. Uttam Pai, CPA, and CMA. The session provided valuable insights into career planning and skill development for aspiring accounting professionals.
Mr. Pai highlighted the growing demand for accountants in the U.S. and the significant role Indian professionals play in bridging the global talent gap. He emphasized the importance of accountants in financial decision-making and corporate governance, stressing their critical role in today's dynamic business environment.
The session also shed light on how Big 4 firms and business outsourcing companies in India are actively hiring CMAs and CPAs for audit and tax roles, offering exciting global career opportunities. Mr. Pai further emphasized the importance of a strong CV, encouraging students to showcase their expertise in U.S. GAAP, corporate governance, and taxation (including Forms 1040, 1120 C/S, and 1085).
The event concluded with an engaging Q & A session, where students had the opportunity to seek personalized career advice from Mr. Uttam Pai. Overall, the session provided invaluable guidance for students aspiring to build successful careers in accounting and finance.
Advanced Career-Placement Orientation

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an intensive session titled "Advanced Career-Placement Orientation" from January 17th to 31st, 2025, tailored specifically for second-year students. This program was designed to delve deeper into the intricacies of the placement process, building upon foundational knowledge to enhance students' readiness for imminent career opportunities.
Final-year students-Ms. M. Bhavana, Mr. Affan, Ms. N. V. Chanaswi, Mr. Rohan M. Bijoy, and Mr. Hanan Mathew Suresh—shared their personal experiences, offering nuanced perspectives on the interviewer-interviewee dynamic and strategies to navigate complex interview scenarios. The session emphasized the competitiveness of aptitude assessments, providing participants with strategies to excel in these evaluations.
The programme also included strategies and resources to prepare for logical reasoning, critical thinking, and numerical reasoning, coupled with mock group discussions. Students were introduced to a curated selection of online certification courses and essential skill-building resources, encouraging continuous professional development and adaptability to industry advancements.
This orientation programme significantly bolstered students' confidence and preparedness for upcoming placements. By integrating peer insights, analytical training, technical proficiency, soft skills enhancement, and resource enrichment, the session equipped second-year students with a robust toolkit to navigate the complexities of the job market. Enhancing Skills for Career-Placement Orientation

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a comprehensive session titled "Enhancing Skills for Career-Placement Orientation" from January 24th to February 12th, 2025, targeting first-year students. This initiative aimed to equip students with a thorough understanding of the placement interview process, encompassing critical components to bolster their career readiness.

National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Course on Digital Statutory E-Filing
Date:4th – 8th November 2024
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College, in collaboration with Nergy, successfully conducted a five-day National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Course on "Essentials of Digital Statutory E-filing" from November 4-8, 2024. The primary aim of this initiative was to equip students with practical knowledge in statutory compliance and enhance their employability skills in th field of finance and accounting.
The course, certified by the Banking Financial Services Insurance Sector Skills Council (BFS-ISSC) and approved by the National Council of Vocational Education & Training (NCVET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, drew an impressive participation of 471 students. A distinguished panel of experts, including CMA Ashiq Rahiman AV, CA Kunal Kumar, CMA Priya Sharma, CMA Balagopalan PL, and CA Peter Richard, delivered comprehensive training on crucial aspects of the statutory compliance.
The programme delivered significant outcomes through its comprehensive curriculum, which covered Digital Statutory e-Filing, Income Tax Returns, GST Returns, TDS and TCS Filings, ESIC and EPFO regulations, Digital Signature Certificates (DSC), MSME Compliance, and MCA Filings.
The key outcomes of the programme include proficiency in digital compliance management, practical exposure on various statutory filings, and improved readiness for professional roles such as Compliance Officer, Tax Consultant, and Financial Analyst. Through intensive practical sessions, participants developed robust technical skills and an understanding of the regulatory frameworks. The resource person for the session was Mr. Ramdas GK, Manager- Aacdemics, Miles Education, Bengaluru. The session began with an introduction to the globally recognized Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and its significance in the accounting and finance industry. Mr. Ramdas highlighted the prestigious nature of the CPA credential, emphasizing its ability to unlock diverse career opportunities in auditing, taxation, financial analysis, and consultancy.
Tailored to align with the academic and professional aspirations of IBF students, the session provided insights into how the CPA certification can enhance their career prospects and prepare them for the competitive global finance environment. Expert Talk on "Career Pathways"

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance recently hosted an expert talk titled "Career Pathways", led by Mr. Sheik Haseeb Sabir, a seasoned executive, currently driving innovation at Core Stack. Mr. Sabir offered valuable career visions, marking an edge between jobs and careers, emphasizing long-term personal fulfillment over short-term employment. He stressed the importance of networking for professional growth and opening new opportunities. A key theme of the talk was the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the job market. While AI may automate routine tasks, Mr. Sabir noted that it also creates new roles requiring advanced skills, urging students to proactively upskill and stay updated on technological advancements. He highlighted the role of certifications as essential for staying competitive in the evolving workforce. Mr. Sabir also underscored the importance of research, not only for innovation but as a critical tool for informed decision-making in professional settings. For students in finance, staying informed about global trends was particularly emphasized as crucial for strategic decision-making. Additionally, he Mr. Sabir discussed rising competition, acknowledging that while it can drive better performance, it also increases stress and anxiety. Mr. Sabir encouraged a balance between professional ambition and personal well-being.
In conclusion, Mr. Sabir’s talk provided valuable guidance on career development, adaptability, and the importance of constant learning in a rapidly changing job market.
Roleplay on Professional Ethics

Role plays enables students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering skill development, decision-making practice, and empathy, while also encouraging reflection and collaboration.
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted a role play titled Professional Ethics on 03/08/2023 for III BCOM ACCA students. The participants engaged in simulated situations requiring conflict resolution related to ethical concerns, fostering the ability to mediate, compromise, and seek resolution in a professional and ethical manner.
The roleplay stimulated critical discussions on the ethical principles at play, fostering reflection on alternative actions and the application of ethical frameworks. By encouraging role reversal, students gained a multi-faceted perspective on the challenges of ethical decision-making. The activity culminated in written reflections where students articulated their insights, demonstrating a deeper understanding of professional ethics and a heightened awareness of the complexities they may encounter in their future careers.
Orientation on “Career Planning and the Way Forward”

Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organised orientation programme on “Career Planning and the Way Forward” on 18th May 2022 in Room No B308, Admin Block for the second and third year B.Com CMA aspirants. Mr.Uttam Pai, CMA,CPA addressed the students. Ms.Honey Rai, General Manager, Human Resources- Miles Education and Ms. Rhea Mariam Zenu, Manager- Academics and Student Relations also addressed the students
The main objectives of the programme was to make the students aware of the importance of clearing CMA exams pursuing graduation. The lecture threw light on the benefits of completing the CMA exams before graduation. Mr.Uttam Pai discussed with the CMA aspirants the methods to make efficient use of the study material provided, the study pattern of students and tips on exam preparation. The speaker motivated the students by sharing his own experience in exam preparation. Mr.Pai also mentioned the importance of being familiar with all the current affairs of the business world and being confident holistic individuals who are able to convince employers of their ability to perform the work required by them.

Student Development Programme

The National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 envisions an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing high quality education to all and thereby, making India a global knowledge superpower. In order to orient the students on the intricacies of the NEP curriculum, a session was conducted for the 2021 Batch students. The session was addressed by the Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Dr. Aloysius Edward J. During the session, the speaker threw light on the multiple exit points, credit systems, holistic purview of NEP and the various components such of the curriculum such as DSC, DSE, VOC, OE, SEC were touched upon.
The session ended with a Q & A. It was an informative and enriching session.
Orientation Programme Navigation through Specialization

The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance was conducted an orientation Program on “Navigation through Specialization” for the 2nd year B.Com Professional Students in continuation of the Research Project and course specialization. The session commenced with a silent prayer. Dr. Annie Stephen emphasized on how important the research project is to enrich the student’s corporate exposure and help them get a clear picture on how to move ahead on the same. Dr. J. Poornima highlighted on all the important aspects, key points and resource availability of each and every specialization. She put a light on the fact of how important it is to stick with the specialization and choose a related topic. At the end of the session the students were able to understand their Research project and specialization in detailed manner. The Session was concluded with a Q&A session to clarify the student’s queries regarding to the specializations and their procedure.
Guest Lecture on – “CAREER PROSPECTS”
The Chartered Accountancy qualification opens the door to a vast range of exciting career opportunities, in every sector of business and finance, both in India and internationally. Hence, in order to enlighten the students on the importance of Chartered Accountancy course and the future prospects, an expert lecture was organised, Mr.Georgy Mathew FCA, Senior Partner, Varma & Varma Chartered Accountants, Bengaluru was invited as the resource person.
The chief guest addressed the students on the importance of the course, and the pattern of the professional examinations. He also stated that the Chartered Accountants were in constant demand both in India and abroad, being recognised for their technical competence, professional standards and veracity. Becoming a Chartered Accountant combines innovative education with mentored work experience, to produce accountants who possess a greater ability to analyse and interpret business problems and develop dynamic solutions. He highlighted that perhaps that’s why Chartered Accountants have the edge over their counterparts: they rise further and faster into more diverse and important roles in organisations.
The resource person concluded by highlighting that no other career offers the mobility that a Chartered Accountancy qualification does. They take on the role of a business advisor, who makes high-level strategic decisions, aimed at driving business, improving profit margins and increasing market share for their clients / employers. Many Chartered Accountants also use their expertise to form their own businesses, becoming highly successful entrepreneurs.
Career Enhancement Prorgamme - Personal Interview

The hallmark of a Personal Interview is the one to one or direct interaction between the candidate and the interviewer. Therefore, it is important that the students are well versed with the technicalities of the round and prepare themselves well for the HR Round / Personal Interview Round. The Personal Interview round can be a daunting task especially we one attends the interview unprepared. A session was conducted for the students to share tips for attending interviews. The session also included the most frequently asked questions at Interviews and the ways to effectively answer the questions. Some of the tips shared with the students included wearing formal attire, being well groomed, wearing a smile, positive body language, research about the company and the role offered and the skills essential to be a right role fit. A right mind set, eye contact, body language, confidence levels, attitude and willingness to adapt to the corporate culture are some of the traits looked for in candidates applying for interviews. To help students prepare for the questions asked during interviews, the speaker shares the FAQs at interviews and the best ways in which one could answer the questions with confidence and clarity of thought. Few of the FAQs that were discussed are : Tell us about yourself, What are your strengths and weaknesses, Where do you see yourself in 5 years, Have you held any leadership positions in the past, Why should we hire you, What re your future plans, Can you work under pressure and Do you have any questions
Although there are no right or wrong answers, an answer that conveys something about an individual that doesn’t match the Interviewers expectations can lead to an adverse situation. Therefore it is essential that the students rehearse and prepare themselves to face the round.
Career Enhancement Prorgamme - Group Discussion

GD is a discussion that tests the candidate's skills, such as leadership skills, communication skills, social skills and behavior, politeness, teamwork, listening ability, General awareness, confidence, problem-solving skills, etc.
Dr. Lourdunathan F. The Group Discussion is generally the next level after the entrance exam to pursue a professional degree. In the case of recruitments, Group Discussion can be the starting or at the end, depending on different companies or organizations.
It is not fixed that the group discussion is always performed around the table. People can sit in any arrangement, but everyone should be able to see every face. It is not only the usual discussion, but it is also a discussion with knowledge and skill.
It is a well-known fact that GD (Group Discussion) round are difficult to clear and the percentage of number of students who cleared GD is considerably low and the dropout rate keeps increasing and many students get demotivated and they don’t try to learn from their mistake. In this regard, a Goup Discussion session was conducted by the Department for students of IV semester BCOM. The main objective of the session was to enlighten the students on the importance of GD in interview and share tips on clearing Group discussion.

Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), organized a Career enhancement programme on 9th February 2022 for the second year B.Com students. Students require skills and knowledge in the business sector to help them position themselves for a successful career. To answer this demand a session was organized to enhance the confidence of the students to face the placement process of various companies. Dr.Reenu Mohan, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting and finance explained the selection procedures in corporate and the various types of rounds involved. She threw light on skills sought by employers in the selection procedure. Dr. Reenu gave insights about how to prepare oneself for group discussion, aptitude tests and pre interview. The students found the session very helpful and motivating as their queries were resolved at the end of the session.

Placement Orientation and Training Program

The Placement season unwraps a feeling of anxiety and fear among those aspiring to get placed. The need to be adequately prepared for the unknown and brace up to match the expectations of the industry is a mandate. It is with this intention that the department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a session on Placement Orientation and Training Programme. The resource person for the session was Prof. Sen B.Mathew , Director of CECR , Kristu Jayanti college who addressed the students and explained the process of Placements. He began the session by the introduction of CECR (Centre for Employability and Corporate relations) as a unit that facilitates and nurtures the aspirations of the candidates. He emphasized on a Sell-Match-Leadership concept and students were encouraged to empower themselves by creating their own brand. In an era of unmatched competition, the need for skilling, up skilling and reskilling is undebatable. Tips on how to prepare and present oneself at interviews were also shared at the session.
The 5C’s that stand for Choice, Collaboration, Communication, Critical thinking and Creative thinking were also discussed. Insights on the Do’s and Don’ts in personnel interviews, Resume building and Group Discussions were shared in a nutshell. The session was lively and interactive.
Project Orientation - II

Research project is obviously a challenging and rewarding experience, it is an opportunity that helps the students to pursue an in-depth original study about the topic which interests the student. Helps them experience leadership and application of classroom knowledge in a real time environment.
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized the Project Orientation-II on 15th February 2022 for Second Year B.Com students. Dr. J. Poornima commenced the session by giving an overview of the previous discussion followed by a doubt solving session. The resource person communicated the instructions that had to be followed by students in every step of the Research. The students were explained on how to select the research topic and organisation based on their specialisations and synopsis preparation, followed by the projection of formats of the contents of the Research project and the chapters that had to be submitted by the students in the course of the project under the guidance of the Faculty guide.
The session was concluded by delivering a complete idea of the Research Project followed by a Q&A session to clarify the student’s queries regarding the various aspects of the Research Project.
Reorientation on Jayantian Code of Conduct and Online Etiquette

The department of Professional Accounting and finance organized reorientation session on Jayantian code of conduct and online class etiquettes for first years, second years and third years students on 24th January 2022. The students were oriented by the faculties towards academic excellence, student behavior and culture, leave application procedure, extra curricular activities during this semester and online certification courses .The session also included guidelines about netiquettes to be followed during online classes and guest lectures. The session was helpful in giving the students a right start for the academic year and providing a clarity on the on the Jayantian culture and values.The sessions were conducted by the following faculties:

Workshop on Preparing for Work Life

The present world is constantly changing and how each individual can stand unique with their communication and intellectual ability. In this regard, a workshop was organized on “Preparing for Work life” was found apt and hence this programme was organised for the I semester students of the Department.
Mr. Ashin Paul, the resource person addressed the students and spoke about the importance of knowing oneself and how to cope up with failure and pursue their dreams with determination. He also emphasized on the communication skills and some key techniques on how to build their communication skills. The resource person also spoke on the evolution of the workforce and the skills sets required for the present age. He emphasized on acquiring interpersonal discipline, learning new things each day, experimenting new things and learning how to communicate effectively. The session was interactive and useful.
NEP 2020 - Curriculum Framework

Dr. Aloysius Edward, Dean of Commerce and Management explained the importance and role of National education policy in revamping of Higher Education. He narrated an inspirational story of a carpenter and stated that the students are the architects of their life, hence they need to decide their destiny by themselves. He elaborated on the curriculum framework of NEP-2020 and discussed the entry and exit policies. He discussed the semester wise credit schemes of the BCom programme. The session concluded with vote of thanks by Assistant Prof. Litty M.
Reorientation on Jayantian Culture and Code of Conduct

A re-orientation session was organized for the first-year students of the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance on 15th November 2021. The session began with prayer song by the department choir. Dr.Annie Stephen, Head of the Department welcomed the students to the campus and introduced the faculties and facilities of the department. She explained the rules regarding campus discipline, class behaviour and dress code to be followed by the students. The students were informed about attendance and leave policies, scholarship schemes, various centres and committees of the college.
Orientation on CA Foundation Course

The professional courses such as CA/CS have been one of the most sought after career options for students, specifically in the Finance domain. On one hand, these professional courses are considered to be the most prestigious courses and on the other hand, the professional courses aren’t a cake walk either. There has been a tectonic shift in what the corporates and recruiters are looking for and hence a pressing need for our students to realize and align themselves with the paradigm shift was found to be the need of the hour.
It becomes imperative therefore to orient the students about the course and the way forward. The department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an orientation program for the students highlighting the future prospects of the course and the importance of the course in building competence and growth.
Project orientation

Research Project is important for the students to nurture conceptual, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Interns not only gain technical knowledge within the industry of their choice, but they also learn how to interact with professionals in a workplace setting, and develop essential soft skills like time management, organization, adaptability, problem-solving and teamwork.
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance was organized the Project orientation on 7th February 2022 for Second Year B.Com students. The orientation program was facilitated by Dr. J.Poornima Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting and Finance. Participants were oriented about the provision & criteria of Research Project, steps of Project Report writing, Pre & Post preparation and activities, Marks distribution for each individual part of the Research Project, as well as the time schedule provided for its completion. The session concluded with an open discussion wherein the queries raised by the students were clarified.

Mr. Somara Krishna Chaitanya engaged the learners with a clear demonstration of the platform and its academic benefits. The session highlighted how the LMS can enhance exam readiness and professional growth. Students found it highly informative and motivating to begin their journey with structured learning support.
Introduction to SAP

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an insightful session on Introduction to SAP for B.Com PAF students. The session was led by Mr. Ravindran Devarajan, Senior Director – Digital Core & Analytics, Westernacher Consulting, and was graced by Mr. Kamal Deep U, SAP Academic Success Partner, and Ms. Namrata Sarma, SAP UA Program Manager, India.
Mr. Devarajan emphasized the growing significance of SAP in the digital era, its transformative role in global businesses, and the expanding career prospects for SAP professionals. CA Suresh Kumar Mani, Finance Director at CSG Systems, Bengaluru, was the resource person for the session. He emphasized the increasing demand for finance professionals in today’s growing economy and the prestige and financial rewards associated with a CA career. In the current context, it's also the most challenging field by far. Therefore, in order to meet the demands of the students, the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an orientation program. Ms. Sonali Debnath CA LLB, Co-founder and Partner, Edusmartpro Academy and Finzcurve Advisors LLP, Bengaluru, was invited as the resource person to share some of her thoughts and experiences relating to the courses and also to brief about the commencement and schedule of the CA and CS classes in our campus.
Ms. Sonali gave details of Chartered Accountancy/Company Secretary course and said that it is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding profession. The course gives students the information, skills, abilities, and other attributes needed to be an auditor by combining theoretical instruction with hands-on training. She discussed the significance of enrolling in one of the two courses. Ma’am emphasized that jobs in finance and accounting have become increasingly popular due to the economy's rapid growth and are now regarded as the most prestigious and lucrative career possibilities. Chartered accountants formulate crucial financial strategies for today's corporate management as Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), Finance Managers, Financial Controllers, Financial Advisors, or Directors (Finance). They could find greater fulfilment and satisfaction by starting their own private company or consulting.
The Company Secretary, on the other hand, serves as the company's internal legal expert and compliance officer. They are also knowledgeable about corporate governance, securities regulations, capital markets, and corporate law. A company secretary can work as a corporate planner, a strategic manager, and the board of directors' primary advisor on best practices in corporate governance. They can also be in charge of all regulatory compliance for the company.
In order to keep themselves refreshed, the resource person has also recommended that students choose extracurricular and co-curricular activities. On August 7, 2024, the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance hosted an orientation session about CPA Examination for the final-year students of BCom International Business and Finance. The session was taken by Vishal, the Head of Academic Operations at Miles Education, Bengaluru.
Mr. Vishal commenced the session by sharing his personal journey of passing CPA Examination and also shared few insight and experiences from his work experience. The main objective of the session was to afford clarity on the credits required for appearing for CPA exams and the pattern of examinations and to motivate the students to help them pursue their goals.
He then delved into the specifics of the CPA Examination, starting with fundamental details such as the number of core and elective subjects and the scoring requirements for each. Shubh Aarambh –Inauguration Of Academic Year 2024-25 and Reorientation Sessions III Year B.COM Programme

Shubh Aarambh, the inauguration of the academic year 2024-2025 and the reorientation sessions for the Final Year B.Com students of the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance was conducted on July 23, 2024. The session began with an orientation program held at the department level by the faculty members. Students were given insights on the department structure, operational procedures and the roles and responsibilities expected from them. Subsequently, the Literary and Cultural Association hosted the inauguration programme at the Jubilee Auditorium. During this inaugural session, Principal Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) addressed the students outlining the institution vision and mission. He emphasised the importance of upholding Indian ethos such as Dharma, Gnana, Shardha, Koushalya and Bhakthi for holistic development and commended the students to focus on skill enhancement through the college’s resources. He also highlighted the importance of discipline and a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Fr. Principal encouraged students to embrace responsibility and wished them a productive year ahead.

Shubh Arambh 2024 is an event organized every year to mark the fresh beginnings at the start of every academic year. This year too Shubh Aarambh was organized for the second-year B.Com students at the Jubilee Auditorium by the Literary and Cultural Association of Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore, on 22nd July 2024. The session commenced with a soul-stirring prayer song performed by the college choir.
Dr. Aloysius Edward J., the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The opening prayer was offered by Fr. Dr. Lijo P. Thomas, the revered Vice Principal of Kristu Jayanti College. A profound moment followed with the recitation of the Holy Scripture from the Rig Veda by Dr. Vijaya Kumar R., Head of the Department of Commerce. The sacred reading from the Quran was beautifully delivered by Dr. Annie Stephen, Head of the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, and the Bible reading was gracefully presented by Fr. Jais V. Thomas, Financial Administrator.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance and the UNAI Hub for SDG 1 organized an Orientation session for the second-year students on 14th February 2024. The session underscored the role of education, innovation, and sustainable practices in achieving the SDGs and building a more resilient future. The students drew inspiration to actively participate in efforts to achieve the SDGs and create a better future for all. Students staged a mime performance, depicting ways of playing their part in the national mission. The mime also provided information about the various schemes available for the upliftment of the underprivileged sections of the society.
Dr.Reenu Mohan, the co-ordinator for UNAI Student club, emphasized on the role each one had to play in shaping a better world for future generations. To build confidence among students and to succeed in the Professional Accountant certification such as ACCA, a session was organised by the Department of Professional Accounting & Finance on Preparing for ACCA for the first year ACCA students on 17/01/2024. The resource person for the session was Dr.K.Kiran Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru.
The objective of the session was to deliver information on the ACCA Examination and to provide guidelines to prepare for the same. There has been an increase in the demand for accounting professionals with globally recognized qualifications. In this regard the resource person explained the integration of ACCA course in the curriculum, the fee structure, registration process, exam centres, pattern of examinations and job opportunities available. Sir also emphasized that the course gives students practical financial skills that they can use in a variety of industries, including forensic auditing, international taxation, transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, valuations, internal audit, assurance, and accounting advisory (IFRS).
The session was informative and interactive equipping the students as they forward in the ACCA journey.
Orintation on Jayantian Code of Conduct

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted Jayantian Code of Conduct on 3rd January 2024 at respective class rooms for the 1st year B.Com PAF students. The objective of the session was to make students reorient the Jayantian Code of Conduct of our college. The class animators highlighted on different aspects such as academic excellence, college timings and procedure of leave approval and also shared the importance of dress code, grooming and campus culture. The session was interactive and invited an open discussion with the students.
Faculty Enrichment Programme on Outcome Based Education

The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance conducted a faculty enrichment programme on Outcome-Based Education and the calculation as well as measurement of Outcomes. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Jagadeesh K K
The session was conducted on the 12th October 2023 at the A-506, 5th Floor, Admin Block from 4:30 p.m. onwards. The programme was highly informative as the session entails lays emphasis on clearly articulated idea of what students are expected to know and be able to do, that is, what skills and knowledge they need to have, when they leave the campus. Outcomes defined at three levels as program outcomes (POs), program specific outcomes (PSOs), and course outcomes (COs). The most important aspect of an outcome is that it should be observable and measurable.
The attainment levels of the courses and Programmes and the significance levels were also discussed. The programme was informative and useful.
Structured Query Language

B.COM Business Analytics program, in collaboration with the Institute of Analytics (IoA-UK), aims at preparing the students for the challenges of a rapidly changing business environment. A recent highlight of this program was the 30-hour SQL (Structured Query Language) certificate course conducted from September 22nd to October 19th, 2023, specifically tailored for the First and Third Semester students from the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance - B.Com Business Analytics programme. This course equips students with the vital skills in database analysis and design and provides insights into the processes of database development and administration using SQL and PL/SQL. Emphasizing the importance of proficiency in multiple programming languages, the training prepared students for successful careers in software development while setting the stage for lucrative and reputable careers in the analytics industry. This holistic preparation equips students for successful and high-paying careers in the field of Business Analytics, ensuring that they can meet the demands of the modern digital economy while fostering their professional growth and development.
Introductory Session on Young Tax Professionals by EY GDS Event

The corporate world has evolved to be more goal-oriented, quality-driven, and competency-driven. It is anticipated that a multidisciplinary and application-focused focus will prepare the student for the workplace. The EY introduction session supports learning and helps people get ready to transition from college to the workplace.
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the Centre of Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR), organized an Introductory Session on Young Tax Professionals by EY GDS meeting on 12th September 20223, from 11:50 am to 1:30 pm for the benefit of the III year Semester B. Com students. The resource persons for the event were from the EY GDS.
The major objective of the event was to provide as much information as possible on the EY organization and its policies. Future Young Tax Professionals were given an in-depth explanation of the job description. The resource persons shared insights on grooming, self-introduction, and interpersonal skills. Orientation on “Developing a Winning Attitude”

The Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretary qualifications opens the door to a vast range of exciting career opportunities, in every sector of business and finance, both in India and internationally. Hence, in order to enlighten the students on the importance of these courses, a guest lecture was organised, Mr. Suresh Kumar Mani CA, Finance Director, CSG Systems and Ms. Jasmine Pinto CA, Founder and Partner at Finzcurve Ventures was invited as the resource person.
The chief guests addressed the students on the importance of these courses, the professional examination and encouraged them to begin their journey in the course. They have also stated that Chartered Accountants are in constant demand both at home and abroad, being recognised for their technical competence, professional standards, and veracity. The resource persons concluded by highlighting that no other career offers the mobility that a Chartered Accountancy and Company Secretary qualification does. They take on the role of a business advisor, who makes high-level strategic decisions, aimed at driving business, improving profit margins and increasing market share for their clients / employers. Many Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries also use their expertise to form their own businesses, becoming highly successful entrepreneurs.
KJLMS Orientation

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an Orientation programme on ‘Kristu Jayanti Learning Management System (KJLMS) on 5th August 2023 for the first year B.Com Professional students to acquaint them in the usage of the Learning Management System.
Dr.Saranya S, Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College oriented the students. The session highlighted the importance of blended learning system in their studies. The session threw light on the four quadrants of KJLMS viz. Lesson activity, Interactive video, Open discussions and Assessments.
The students were also oriented on the procedure of accessing the KJLMS portal through the college website and also by using URL. The login credentials of KJLMS were shared with the students and they were instructed to change the passwords for enhancing security in usage. The grievance redressal mechanism was also communicated to the students. The session ended with a video depicting the stepwise procedure of taking up the assessments in KJLMS portal.
Orientation session on Business Analytics

Ms. Likitha K- Analytics and Digital Marketing - International Skills Development Corporation, provided a comprehensive introduction to the field of Analytics and its significance in our daily lives. She highlighted the practical applications of Analytics across various domains. The speaker emphasized on the significance of Business Analytics in the present day world. She outlined the subjects covered in the course, including Statistics with R Programming, Python Programming, SQL, SAS and Tableau, Big Data Analysis, and Social Media Analytics. The key takeaways are that the students gain access to over 300 courses on Data Camp, enabling them to stay updated with emerging topics in the field. During the session the speaker also touched upon the dynamic nature of the Business Analytics industry, highlighting its consistent growth across companies. This insight served as a motivation for students to consider Business Analytics as a promising career option. Overall, the lecture provided a solid foundation on the importance of Business Analytics, the role of professional bodies like the Institute of Analytics, and the diverse subjects and opportunities available to students pursuing this field.
Know Your College (KYC)- Quiz Competition

The "Know Your College" (KYC) - Quiz competition was organized by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance for the I year B. Com students (Batch 2023). The Quiz competition serves as a platform for the students to develop their knowledge about the college and also gain deeper insights into the rich tapestry that makes up their college. The participation rate serves as a testament to the relevance of the quiz's content, as well as the eagerness of students to learn more about the institution that plays a pivotal role in their academic journey. The "Know Your College" quiz has not only provided an avenue for students to showcase their knowledge but has also revealed the extent of their connection to the college community. The quiz has not only highlighted the areas where students excel in their knowledge but has also identified opportunities for improvement, such as enhancing awareness of recent developments and administrative structures. Eventually, the insights gained from the quiz will serve as a foundation for fostering a more informed and engaged student body. The success of the "Know Your College" quiz reaffirms the importance of promoting a comprehensive understanding of the college and its offerings, contributing to a more enriched and rewarding academic experience for all students. Out of 523 participants, the winner was awarded the certificate.

The main objective of this session was to make the students aware of the importance and value of the professional course Certified Management Accountant. Mr. Rhea Mariam explained about the course, curriculum, exam patterns and the IMA registration formalities. The speaker stressed on the the job opportunities and the guidelines to prepare for the CMA examination. Mr. kamal Vora elaborated on the difference between the Indian CMA degrees versus the US CMA certification. He also shared his personal experience from the corporate sector. Mr. Michael Wagner explained about the changing scenario in the job market and the opportunities ahead of a CMA. He also added about the extended support offered by Miles Education to our students up to five years.
It was an informative and interactive session wherein the speakers interacted with the students and cleared all the queries raised by them. The speakers enriched the students by sharing their own experience and highlighting the demand for CMA at global level.

The main objective of this session was to make the students aware of the importance and value of the professional course Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Kamal explained about the concepts and how the examinations are conducted. The speaker highlighted the job opportunities and the steps taken to prepare for the CPA examination. Mr Madan shared his personal experience and explained in detail about the course and shared tips on how to prepare for the examination. He also made the difference between an accountant and an auditor clear to the audience. Mr. Michael enlightened us on the industry and the job opportunities CPA students have, and the demand for a CPA professional in the job market.
It was an interactive session among the speakers and the students. The course subjects and examination pattern was briefed to the students during this session. The session was concluded after the doubt clearing session.

Hence to cater the needs of students an orientation programme was organised by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, MR. M.IRFAT CA.,CMA.,CIMA.,CPA., Founder and Director of North Star Academy, Bengaluru, was invited as the resource person to share some of his thoughts and experiences relating to the courses and also to brief about the commencement and schedule of the CA and CS classes in our campus.
Mr.M.Irfat gave details of Chartered Accountancy/Company Secretary course and said that it is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding profession. The course involves a blend of theoretical education and practical training and equips students with knowledge, ability, skills and other qualities required for an Auditor. He spoke on the importance of doing either of the two courses. Sir highlighted that with the rapid growth in economy, careers in finance and accounts have gained tremendous popularity and is considered as the most prestigious & lucrative career options. Chartered accountants works as Chief Finance Officers (CFO), Finance Managers, Financial Controllers, Financial Advisors or Directors (Finance) and frame important financial strategies in the day today management of companies. They can also have their own consultancy or private firm which could be more rewarding and satisfying.
On the other hand, the Company Secretary is an in-house legal expert; a compliance officer of the company, an expert in corporate laws, securities laws, capital market and corporate governance. A Company Secretary can become a chief advisor to the board of directors on best practices in corporate governance responsible for all regulatory compliances of company & can be a corporate planner and a strategic manager.
The resource person has also advised the students to opt for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to refresh them. Orientation programme created a great awareness among students regarding the importance of undertaking the professional courses and the immense career opportunities available for the CA and CS aspirants.
Orientation on “Road Map to ACCA Journey”

The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance organized a session titled “Road Map to ACCA Journey”. The resource person for the session was Ms. Nithya S, Senior Associate -Operation Support, International Skill Development Corporation. The main objective of the session was to motivate the students to excel in their attempt to clear the professional exams. Over the years, there has been a massive surge in the number of ACCA aspirants in the country. This is because of the increase in demand for accounting professionals with globally recognized qualifications. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is a global organization that offers the certification to be a professional accountant. In this regard the resource person spoke about the benefits of the course adding that the qualification equips one with well-rounded finance skills with practical application in industries, such as Accounting Advisory (IFRS), Risk Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Valuations, Internal Audit, Assurance, International Taxation, Transfer Pricing, Forensic Auditing, Financial Reporting etc
She also stated the benefits of becoming an ACCA Affiliate or Member stating that one could work not only in India but in over 180 countries across the world. Ms. Nithya also shared about the integration of ACCA course in the curriculum, fees, registration process, exam centres pattern of examinations and job opportunities.
The session was informative and it was able to give the students a heads-up to commence their journey forward.
Workshop on Navigation through Miles LMS & Exam Orientation

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a workshop titled “Navigation through Miles LMS” on 10th February 2023 for second-year B Com CMA students. Ms.Rhea Mariam Zenu, CMA Manager-Academics and Student Relations, Miles Education, Bengaluru addressed the students.
The main objective of the session was to give the students hands-on experience with the Learning Management System of Miles Education. The resource person explained the procedure to access Miles LMS and assisted in registering in the LMS portal and guided them to navigate through various options available on the Miles website. Various options available in the LMS portal like Live Webinar Sessions, Forums, Recorded classes, MAC store, and Mock exams were discussed with the students. MS. Rhea also conducted a one-to-one mentoring session for the students where all the queries regarding the upcoming CMA exams were clarified. Information regarding the schedule of offline classes conducted by Miles Education and the additional assistance provided to the students were also discussed. The importance of attempting one mock test before taking up the CMA exam was also emphasized by the speaker.
It was an interactive session where Ms. Rhea clarified the queries of the students and encouraged the students to attempt and complete the CMA exam.
Statistics with R
Date: 23 January to 22 February 2023
Statistics with R is the certificate course in Business Analytics from ISDC an IoA-UK endorsed programme. The two batches of students from the 30-hour certificate course in statistics using R were conducted from 23rd Jan to 22nd Feb 2023. R programming skills and excellent data analysis techniques were taught to Business Analytics students in this course. The trainer offers a thorough explanation of how to set up the software required for a statistical programming environment, install it, and configure it. He also explains how high-level statistical languages incorporate general programming language ideas. The course covers practical issues in statistical computing which includes programming in R, reading data into R, accessing R packages, writing R functions, debugging, profiling R code, and organizing and commenting on R code. Working examples will be provided for topics in statistical data analysis.
Orientation Programme on Civic Responsibility

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an orientation programme on civic responsibility for all semesters of the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance students on 9 January 2023.
The program was enlightened with loads of information regarding the Jayantian code of conduct, civic responsibilities, and role in nurturing and preserving the environment. The main objective of the program was to re-orient the students on the code of conduct and civic responsibilities. Civic education in students is important for the survival of our democracy. Effective civic education is the primary means for teaching and learning democratic values. The focus of the program was also to acquaint the students with the civic responsibilities of road safety, protection of public property, protection and preservation of cultural heritage sites, protection, preserve and improve the natural environment, maintain the spirit of a common brotherhood, respect, value and follow all the noble ideals. The session ignited a sense of duty and responsibility
Orientation on CMA Exams

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an orientation session on “CMA Exams” on 18th January 2023 for the second-year B Com (CMA) students. Ms.Rhea Mariam Zenu manager-Academics and Student Relations, and Mrs. Nithya Rajagopal Vice President, Academics, Miles Education, Bengaluru addressed the students.
The speaker Ms. Rhea discussed the CMA exam registration procedures and the windows available for exam registration and explained the entire registration process step by step. The speaker also shared the importance of the use of LMS and shared details of all the LMS content that is available on the Learning Management system.
The speaker also guided the students on how to book the exam dates online and also outlined about Prometric center in Whitefield, Bangalore. Ms. Rhea insisted the students to carry their personal Calculators, Passports, and any other ID proofs along with the appointment letter in order to avoid inconvenience during the exam.
The session concluded with a Question & Answer session wherein the speakers clarified all the queries raised by the students. Tips for exam preparations and the approach to be followed was also shared by the speaker.
The session was interesting and motivational.

The main objective of the session was to make the students aware of the importance and value of clearing professional exam such as CPA. Mr. Madan explained about the role of CPAs in the corporate and enlightened the students about the globally integrated program CPA. The speaker explained the difference between various roles in the corporate such as Accountant, Auditor etc. The concepts and Professional curriculum and exam pattern was also discussed during the session. Students clarified various doubts and queries regarding the CPA Programme. This session highlighted the job opportunities available for the students who complete CPA Programme.

B.COM Business Analytics in association with The Institute of Analytics (IoA-UK) undergraduate programme designed to prepare students to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge so that they can meet the challenges of a changing business environment. Certificate in Business Analytics from ISDC is an IoA endorsed programme. The programme equips the learners with the skills and expertise to build a reputable and high paying career in the World of Analytics. The 30-hour course in Python Programming certificate course was conducted for two batches of students from 26th Sep to 4th Nov 2022 who have a strong interest in developing statistical and business skills required to succeed in the digital economy. The student has learned to interpret data and analyze patterns using ‘big data’ and drive strategic change in the organisation. The trainer provides an overview of Python's structure and highlights its versatility as a language that can be used for scientific computing and calculations, simulations, web development, and database systems. The trainer emphasized the importance of knowing multiple programming languages to succeed in the software development field.
Orientation on CMA Programme Thinking Beyond Boundaries

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organised an orientation programme on “Thinking beyond Boundaries” on 24th September, 2022 for the first year B.Com CMA students. The students were addressed by Mr. Madan M.G who is a qualified CMA and CPA. The main objective and motive behind the orientation was to provide the CMA students detailed information about the course, discuss its value and exam pattern.
The session began with an interactive session wherein topics such as volume of the stock exchange market, difference between the Indian GAAP and US GAAP, difference between auditors and management, types of shareholders were discussed. The scope of CMA was discussed and a detailed explanation of the difference between the Indian CMA degrees and the US CMA certification was provided. Mr Madan also provided information about the job profile of a Management Accountant. Detailed information about the syllabus and units to be covered for the CMA exams and exam patterns were explained effectively by the speaker. Mr Madan M.G cleared all doubts and queries of the students and made the session interactive and informative.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance in association with Academic section of Kristu Jayanti College organized an orientation programme on SEC, OE, & KJC Portal for I BCOM students on 23rd August 2022 at 11.45 am. The Co-ordinator- PAF department CA Dr. Annie Stephen was the resource person for the expert talk. The session started with highlighting the importance and a brief background of the NEP 2020. The programme framework under NEP 2020 was explained and depicted to the students. The students were briefed of the various terms under the new curriculum which included DSC (Discipline Specific Courses), Open electives (OE), AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory courses) and SEC (Skill Enhancement Courses) and the credits offerings. The students were also briefed on the KJC event registration portal. The session included a video explaining the steps to be taken for enrollment in KJC Portal.

Mr.Varun Jain, (CPA CMA) - Co-Founder Miles Education and Futurense Technologies addressed the students.
The main objective of the programme was to make the students aware of the importance and the value of clearing professional exams like CMA and CPA. Mr. Varun enlightened the students on the professional CMA and CPA and also explained the mode of examinations and the examination pattern of CMA and CPA . He explained the role played as profesionals and the challenges that lie ahead in the present world.
Mr.Jain emphasized the need to rely on data to provide hindsight, Insight & foresight. One should take data leverage to make financial decision making. The session highlighted the job opportunities available for CMA and CPA. M.IRFAT CA.,CMA.,CIMA.,CPA., Founder and Director North Star Academy, Bengaluru, was invited as the resource person to share some of his thoughts and experiences relating to the courses and also to brief about commencement and in- house schedule of the CA and CS coaching sessions.
The resource person started the session by explaining the importance of CA and CS in the present scenario. He explained that there are three levels to accomplish the CA and CS courses. They are Foundation, Intermediate and Final levels. Doing CA and CS together has an excellent advantage. The advantage is that the course content are quite similar in both these courses. Most of the subjects & their contents are related to each other. Also as per the New Education Policy, the exams for such courses have been reduced from eight papers to six papers. CA should be chosen if one wishes to pursue a career in finance or accounting, but CS is the best option for those who want to seek higher-level managerial roles or legal management. ACCA is a largely connected accounting body with partnerships with numerous accounting bodies and universities and is currently associated with over 7,000 Approved Employers that provide amazing opportunities for ACCAs. Some of the most popular countries that Indian ACCAs often work in are the UK, Australia, Singapore, Germany and many other countries in the European Union. Ms. Nithya also shared about the integration of ACCA course in the curriculum, fees, registration process, exam centers pattern of examinations and job opportunities.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an informational orientation session for the students of second year as they began with their academic year 2022-23. Dr.Aloysius Edward, Dean of Commerce and Management addressed the students and stressed on the importance of value added and skill enhancement courses for the students in their academic life. He also updated the students about the new UGC guidelines. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining attendance in every semester and the consequences of not able to maintain required attendance. A workshop titled "Lead and Engage" was conducted on 30th October 2024 by Dr. Karthikeyan for V Sem HR specialization students, aiming to deepen their understanding of leadership roles and responsibilities within an organization and foster teamwork and coordination skills.
The workshop's objective was to provide students with practical know-how into effective leadership through engaging activities. Dr. Karthikeyan emphasized the importance of leadership in organizational success and the role of teamwork in achieving common goals.
Students were divided into seven groups to encourage collaborative learning and hands-on experiences. The groups participated in interactive games like bridge crossing, untie the human knot, and fish catching. Each activity was designed to test and build strategic thinking, communication, and coordination within the teams.
At the end, the winning teams were appreciated, and Dr. Karthikeyan provided valuable feedback on each group's strategies. This feedback session helped students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, reinforcing key leadership concepts.

Usage of KJC Data Centre

The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance conducted a faculty enrichment programme on Usage of KJC Data Centre “conducted by Dr. Nidhi Raj Gupta, Associate Professor, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bangalore. During the session, Dr. Gupta emphasized the importance of keeping faculty profiles updated, which includes work experience, educational details, PAN, and Aadhar cards.
She explained that the CMS consists of three main sections: Department File, Activity File, and Student File. All departmental activities should be uploaded in the Department File, and external resource persons' details such as their photo, contact number, and email ID should be included. Event coordinators are responsible for uploading event reports to the Data Centre.
In the Faculty File, faculty achievements should be recorded. The process for uploading data involves first updating the achievements in the CMS, followed by adding them to the department's monthly matrix.
In the Student File, all student achievements, including publications and participation in various activities, should be uploaded.
Apart from this, she also explained dos and don’ts of uploading Data. She also pinpointed few common mistakes, which faculties do while uploading. The session was conducted on the 9th October 2024 at the A-412, 4th Floor, Admin Block from 3:30 p.m. onwards.

Each group took great care in researching and presenting key aspects of their culture, including food, clothing, traditions, festivals, and language. LinkedIn is a professional network community designed to help students and employees make business connections, share their experiences, and showcase their resumes to find and apply for jobs. As a student, they can use LinkedIn to search for their dream job, stay connected to a particular industry, and enhance their professional reputation. This platform is primarily used for professional networking and career development, and allows job seekers to post their CVs and employers to post jobs. In this regard, a workshop on Leveraging LinkedIn Masterclass was found apt and hence this programme was organized on 05th October 2021 through the zoom platform.
The Resource Person of the day was Ms Preeti Choudhary the Founder of LinkedInLocalIndia & Creator of PAN India #LinkedInLocalIndia Community She highlighted about how students can build and update their profile for better employment opportunity. Mr.Uttam Pai U, CMA and CPA, AVP, Academics, Miles Education Bengaluru addresses the students. The speaker provided an overview of Part 1 of CMA exam with more focus on topics like budgeting, internal controls, importance of technology in an organization, costing and financial Statements. The important topics from the point of view of examination were discussed in a nutshell. Bridge Course in Financial Accounting

Com Ist Year students from August 1st to 19th August, 2025.This Bridge Course is specially designed for non-commerce students to develop a basic understanding of accounting principles and practices. The programme introduced fundamental concepts of accounting meaning and objectives of accounting, types of accounts, rules of debit and credit, journal entries, ledger posting, and preparation of Trial Bbalance.
WOW (World of Women)

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College proudly presented "WOW (World of Women)" on February 19th, 2025. This ground-breaking event, designed exclusively for female students, marked a significant milestone in the department's commitment to fostering female empowerment and leadership. What made WOW truly unique was its "by women, for women" approach. From poster design and student coordination to the tech and media teams, every aspect of the event was conceptualized and executed by the talented female students of the department.
Event Highlights:
WOW witnessed enthusiastic participation from 100 female students, with 10 exceptional finalists advancing to the concluding round. The event featured a series of engaging and challenging rounds, designed to test a diverse range of skills and knowledge:
• Women-Centric Quiz: The initial round tested participants' knowledge of women's history, achievements, and current affairs.
• Deciphering Women Personalities: Participants had to unscramble images to reveal the names of prominent female figures.
• Blindfold Communication Challenge: This round focused on communication skills, with blindfolded participants dictating object descriptions using shapes and sizes.
• Tangram Challenge: Participants demonstrated their problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills by creating shapes from tangram pieces within a time limit.
• Final Sales Pitch Round: The finalists showcased their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit by developing and pitching unique products designed specifically for women. This round included a confidence walk and a compelling PowerPoint presentation, requiring participants to demonstrate both poise and persuasive communication.

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The B.Com Business Analytics program, in collaboration with The Institute of Analytics (IoA-UK), is designed to equip students with the skills needed to navigate the ever-evolving fields of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). A key highlight of this program was a 30-hour certificate course in Machine Learning and AI, conducted from February 5th to 25th, 2025. This course was specifically designed for IVth Semester B.Com Business Analytics students in the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance. Under the expert guidance of Trainer Mr. Radhakrishna Rao Lambu from ISDC, students gained hands-on experience with essential AI tools and techniques. The program emphasized proficiency in programming languages like Python and R, ensuring that participants were well-prepared for lucrative careers in AI development and data science. In today’s data-driven world, Machine Learning and AI are revolutionizing business decision-making, financial forecasting, risk management, and market analysis. Certificate course one Python Programme

In today's data-driven market, Python is recognized as one of the most sought-after programming languages due to its simplicity, scalability, and extensive application in fields like data science, business intelligence, and market analytics. This industry-relevant course bridged academic learning with practical skills, equipping students to meet market demands and thrive in the digital economy.
A 30-hour Python Programming Certificate Course, endorsed by the Institute of Analytics (IoA-UK) and organized by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance in collaboration with ISDC, was conducted for II-year B.Com Business Analytics students from 30th August to 21st September 2024. The sessions were led by Mr. Debangshu Chatterjee, Faculty-Analytics and Digital Marketing, ISDC, whose vast experience and deep understanding of Python's business applications enriched the learning experience. The course provided an in-depth exploration of Python's versatility in data analysis, scientific computing, simulations, web development, and database management, with hands-on training in tools like Pandas and NumPy. Students gained practical insights in the field of data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualization, focusing on solving real-world business problems.
A Bridge course on Basics on US Accounting

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted a bridge course for the first year IBF students titled “Basics on US Accounting”. This bridge course was designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of accounting practices specific to the United States. Over the span of one week, this intensive program immersed learners in the essential concepts and methodologies that underpin the US accounting system, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate the financial landscape effectively.
Students explored the core principles of accounting including the accounting equation, the concept of double-entry bookkeeping and the structure of financial statements such as the income statement, balance sheet, and the cash flow statement. The course emphasized the importance of accuracy and consistency in financial reporting and also equipped the participants to handle accounting tasks with confidence.
Throughout the week, learners were engaged in practical exercises and real-world scenarios that simulated common accounting challenges faced by businesses in the US. These activities helped participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge in recording transactions, preparation of financial statements, and analyse financial data for strategic decision-making.

The students need to be equipped with strong knowledge of accounting and finance basics to pursue CMA course. To give better understanding of the accounting, a bridge course on “Basics of Accounting” was organised by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance for all the first year students who enrolled for B.Com with CMA course from 19th August 2024 to 24th August 2024. Over the span of one week, this intensive program immersed learners in the essential concepts and methodologies that underpin the US accounting system, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate the financial landscape effectively.

CMA-Focus Group Discussion

Focus Group in professional courses like CMA is one among the new initiatives of the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance. The objective of this initiative is to identify and train the students who have high potential to crack the professional courses. Two sets of focus groups were created for CMA programme for second year and third year CMA students. An expert talk for the second year CMA focus group was organized by the department on 8th November 2023 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Room No.A409. Ms.Alka Kothari, CA, ICWA, CPA, Instructor, Miles Education, Bengaluru addressed the students. The major focus of the session was to motivate the students to take up the CMA exams in the upcoming January-February window. The speaker stressed on the demand for the certified finance professionals across the globe. The important topics under part one of CMA from the point of view of exam were discussed during the session. Students were divided into sub-groups for making the group study more useful. Ms. Alka Kothari interacted with the students to identify the topics that they are weak at. The students raised many queries regarding the pattern, timing and areas to be focused. All their queries were clarified by the speaker.
