Psycho Fiesta, an intra collegiate fest

The Department of Psychology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) hosted Psycho Fiesta, an intra collegiate fest in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Research (CAR) Digital Interventions for Mental Healthcare NIMHANS, in association with Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) on January 19, 2026.
The fest consisted of three main events : Live show featuring creative performances, Interactive psychology stalls showcasing the intersection of psychology, technology and imagination offering hands on learning experiences, games and assessments and faces of feelings- an expressive presentation highlighting emotional experiences.
The fest was inaugurated by Fr. Deepu Joy, Director, Student Welfare Office. Fr. Deepu Joy in his inaugural address appreciated the department’s effort to introduce Psychology to students of other streams.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Anjana Sinha, Ms. Naw Carolina Ashu, Ms. Kezia Eldos and Ms. Athira Das (Faculty members, Department of Psychology).

Stimuli 2025- a National level Intercollegiate Psychology Fest

The department of Psychology at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), successfully organized Stimuli 2025- a National level Intercollegiate Psychology Fest, on 30th October 2025. The theme, ‘Spectrum: Every shade of talent’. The event explored talent personified in the forms of treasure hunt to Impromptu with 9 staggering events, bringing together students from various institutions, to celebrate and engage in channels of portraying talent within the spectrum of Psychology.
The fest began with a kick-starting inaugural ceremony, to boost the enthusiasm of the participants, graced by the Chief Guest, Retd. Air Commodore Lalit Kumar Jain, Indian Air Force. He addressed the audience with vivid examples from his military experience, relating them to key psychological principles such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. His talk emphasized the value of collective effort, mental strength, and hard work in overcoming challenges, qualities vital not only in defense but also in the study and practice of psychology. The presidential address was delivered by Fr. Dr. Lijo P. Thomas, Pro Vice Chancellor, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), centered around “stimuli” drawing psychological parallels between external triggers and human response, reminding the audience of the importance of awareness, adaptation, and purpose in both learning and life. The session also included the presences of Dr. Gopakumar A.V, Dean, School Humanities and Social Sciences, Ms. Stephina Mathew, Student Coordinator and Dr. Sruthi Sivaraman, Head, Department of Psychology whose guidance and support added immense value to the occasion. The Inaugural ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the Student Coordinator of the fest, Ms. Stephina Mathew, setting the day for an exciting unravelling of events.
The fest included a variety of intellectually stimulating and creatively competitive competitions. Over 90 students from 14 colleges actively participated, showcasing their spectrum of creativity through the psyche.
The valedictory stimuli marked a grand conclusion to the intercollegiate psychology fest, which saw participation from 14 colleges across India. The valedictory session was opened by the Fest Coordinator, Assistant Prof. Lakshmipriya E. The valedictory address was delivered by Fr. Emmanuel P.J, Director, Kristu Jayanti School of Law and Faculty, Department of Psychology, who congratulated the winners and commended the students for their creativity and intellectual vigor.
The ceremony also featured the announcement of event winners by Ms. Maria L., faculty Fest Coordinator and Assistant Professor, followed by the distribution of certificates and trophies by Fr. Emmanuel. St. Aloysius Degree College, Bengaluru, emerged as the Runners-Up with 65 points, while Jain University claimed the overall championship with 120 points. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Aradhna Sara Abraham, who extended appreciation to all faculty members, judges, participants, and volunteers for making Stimuli 2025 a resounding success.

Cognizance 2025 - Intra-University Psychology Fest

The Department of Psychology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences held an intrauniversity fest which was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, and wellness, bringing together students to acknowledge on the inspiring theme: “Healing in the Digital Age.”
The event was graced with the presence of Dr. Guruprasad Hosurkar, Director and Clinical Lead of Neurology at KIMS Hospital, Bangalore, whose keynote address on digital wellness served as a cornerstone of the day’s proceedings.
The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a warm welcome from Dr. Lokesh L, Faculty Fest Co-coordinator, who emphasized the growing importance of digital wellness in today’s hyper-connected society.
Rev. Fr. Augustine George, Vice-Chancellor, delivered the opening remarks, reaffirming the university’s dedication to fostering not only academic excellence but also the overall well-being of its students
Dr Guru Prasad delivered an enlightening talk titled “Healing in the Digital Age,” where he explored how technology, while often associated with stress and distraction, can also be a powerful tool for healing, mental health support, and personal growth.
He touched upon:
• The psychological impacts of digital overexposure
• Mindfulness practices using digital tools and apps
• The role of AI in mental health diagnostics and therapy
• Strategies for achieving a healthy tech-life balance
All the UG students participated in the events, showcasing exceptional creativity, critical thinking, and empathy toward issues of mental health and digital well-being.
The intra-university fest was a resounding success, not only in terms of participation and enthusiasm but also in sparking important conversations about navigating the digital age with awareness and care.

Stimuli 2025: An Odyssey of Mental Wellness

The Department of Psychology at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, successfully hosted its intercollegiate fest, Stimuli 2025, on February 17, 2025. The event, themed an Odyssey of Mental Wellness, brought together students from various institutions to engage in discussions and activities focused on mental health.
The fest began with an inspiring inaugural ceremony, graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Dwarkanath Srinivas, Professor and Unit Head, Department of Neurosurgery, NIMHANS, Bengaluru. Dr. Srinivas emphasized the dynamic relationship between neuroscience and clinical psychology. He discussed the growing relevance of neuropsychology in creating a more holistic approach to patient care, which enhances diagnosis and the development of treatment plans. Rev. Fr. Jais V Thomas, Financial Administrator and Director of Jayantian Extension Services, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of mental health and mindfulness in everyday life. The inaugural session also included the presence of Dr. Gopakumar A.V., Dean and Faculty of Humanities and Dr. Sruthi Sivaraman, Head, Department of Psychology. The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by student coordinator of the fest, Mr. Noel Ebby, setting the stage for an exciting day of competitions.
The fest included a variety of intellectually stimulating and creatively engaging competitions ranging from quiz to treasure hunt. Over 140 students from 14 colleges actively participated, showcasing their enthusiasm and talent.
The valedictory ceremony commenced with the department choir leading with a song. The valedictory address was given by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel P.J., Director Kristu Jayanti College of Law. The ceremony featured the distribution of well-merited awards, acknowledging the enthusiastic involvement of everyone present. The over-all runners up trophy was won by Jain University School of Allied Healthcare & Sciences and the over-all winners were Jain University School of Sciences. The valedictory ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by student coordinator Ms. Shruti Sunil Jose. The event was coordinated by Ms. Naw Carolina Ashu, Ms. Maria Lungnila, and Ms. Sandra, faculty members of the Department of Psychology.
