The session aimed to promote overall physical and mental well-being by emphasizing the importance of regular exercise and yoga practices in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The resource person, Sister M. Arockia Mary (Principal), delivered an informative and engaging session, drawing upon her experience and knowledge to address the needs of the participants.
During the session, Sister M. Arockia Mary highlighted the significance of incorporating daily physical activities and yoga into one’s routine to enhance flexibility, strength, and mental relaxation. She explained how consistent practice of simple exercises and yoga techniques can contribute to improved concentration, reduced stress, and better overall health. The session was interactive, with clear explanations and demonstrations that made it easy for participants to understand and follow.
The programme included practical demonstrations of basic exercises and yoga postures, encouraging participants to actively engage and practice along. The resource person also provided guidance on maintaining a balanced routine and adopting healthy habits in daily life, creating a motivating and supportive environment for all attendees.

Safety During Emergencies: Fire and Road Safety

A Community Organisation Programme was conducted on 1st April 2026 by the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Manna Development Disability Centre, at Manna Development Disability Centre, Kothannur. The session, titled “Awareness Session on Importance of Personal Hygiene,” aimed to create awareness among participants about maintaining personal hygiene and its importance for overall health and well-being.
The resource person, Ms. Nirmala Jacob, Special Educator at Manna and Coordinator of Exodus Transitional Centre, delivered an informative and engaging session. She emphasised the significance of daily hygiene practices such as handwashing, oral care, cleanliness of clothes, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The session was designed to be interactive, ensuring that participants could easily understand and adopt the practices in their daily lives.
Various examples and practical demonstrations were used to enhance understanding and encourage participation. The session helped the participants recognise the importance of hygiene in preventing diseases and improving the quality of life. The programme was conducted from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon and witnessed active participation from the attendees.
The event was successfully coordinated by MSW student coordinators, Mr. Ansu Abraham and Ms. Vismaya K M, whose efforts ensured the smooth organisation of the programme. Safety During Emergencies: Fire and Road Safety

A Community Organisation Programme was conducted on 25th March 2026 by the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Diya Foundation, Bangalore. The session, titled “Safety During Emergencies: Fire and Road Safety,” aimed to enhance awareness and understanding among individuals with intellectual disabilities regarding safety practices through simple, activity-based learning methods. The resource persons delivered an interactive and informative session focusing on basic safety rules and emergency responses.
During the session, participants were introduced to key safety concepts such as identifying fire hazards, following fire safety rules, understanding traffic signals, and practising safe road crossing. The programme included demonstrations, role-play activities, and visual aids, which helped simplify concepts and made learning more engaging and practical. This approach encouraged active participation, improved comprehension, and built confidence among the participants to respond effectively during emergencies.
A total of 20 beneficiaries, 2 counsellors, and 2 centre trainers participated enthusiastically, contributing to the success of the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving participants with improved awareness and practical knowledge of safety measures. The event was successfully coordinated by MSW student coordinators, Ms Debalina Saha Chowdhury and Ms Pyngrope Phawa, whose teamwork ensured smooth execution. Overall, the initiative effectively promoted safety awareness, participation, and practical learning, empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to adopt safer behaviours in their daily lives.

Enhancing Well-Being in Old Age through Exercise and Rest

An awareness Session on ‘Enhancing Well-Being in Old Age through Exercise and Rest’ was conducted on 25th March 2026 by the Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti College (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Guanella Preethi Nivas, at Guanella Preethi Nivas, Bengaluru. The session aimed to promote holistic well-being among the elderly by emphasising the crucial role of physical activity and adequate rest in maintaining health and vitality during old age. The resource person, Fr. Rishar (SDC), BPT (Physiotherapist), delivered an insightful and interactive session, drawing upon his expertise to address the specific needs of the elderly population.
During the session, Fr. Rishar explained the importance of incorporating regular, age-appropriate exercise to improve mobility, strength, and mental health, while also highlighting the significance of proper rest for recovery and overall wellness. To ensure clarity and accessibility, the resource person presented the key concepts in three languages—Kannada, Tamil, and English—effectively connecting with the diverse linguistic backgrounds of the participants. The session included practical demonstrations of simple exercises and guidance on developing a balanced routine, fostering an engaging and supportive environment.
A total of 19 beneficiaries participated enthusiastically, contributing to the success of the session. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving the attendees with valuable insights into maintaining their health through sustainable practices. The event was successfully coordinated by MSW student coordinators, Ms. Zaiba Afzal and Ms. Annriya J Kunnath, 1st Year MSW, whose teamwork ensured smooth execution. Awareness Session on Self Confidence & Self-Esteem Building

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Oceanik Education Society, organised an awareness session on “Self Confidence & Self-Esteem Building” on 25th March 2026 at Oceanik College, Devinagar, Bengaluru.
The programme was conducted for BCA and BCOM students with the aim of enhancing their confidence, self-worth, and personal development. The session was facilitated by Mrs. Christina Gould CS, CSR Coordinator, Oceanik Education Society, who explained the concepts in a simple and relatable manner.
During the session, the resource person highlighted the importance of self-confidence in academic and personal life, ways to build self-esteem, and how students can overcome self-doubt and fear. The session was interactive, where students actively participated and shared their thoughts and experiences. The resource person also provided practical tips and simple techniques to improve confidence, such as positive thinking, self-reflection, and effective communication. Real-life examples were shared to help students relate the concepts to their daily lives. A total of 57 students attended the programme.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Tideepson Konjengbam, 1st Year MSW student, who ensured smooth conduct of the session. Overall, the programme was informative and beneficial, helping students understand the importance of confidence and positive self-image in their daily lives.

Awareness Session on Child Welfare

A Community Organization Programme was conducted on 25th March 2026 by the Department of Social Work in collaboration with The Association of People with Disability (APD) at Association of people with disability centre. The session, titled “Awareness Session on Child Welfare,” aimed to create awareness about the importance of child welfare, protection, and the role of society in ensuring the well-being of children.
The resource person, Mr. Visakh V S, Senior Manager at APD, delivered an informative and engaging session. He highlighted key aspects of child welfare, including child rights, protection measures, and the importance of early intervention and inclusive support systems. The session also focused on the challenges faced by children with disabilities and the need for community involvement in promoting their development and well-being.
The programme encouraged active participation and interaction among the attendees, helping them gain a better understanding of child welfare issues and practical approaches to address them. The awareness session successfully sensitized participants towards their role in supporting and safeguarding children in society.
A total of 12 students and 2 staff members participated in the programme, contributing to its success. The event was effectively coordinated by MSW student coordinators, Ms.Neha Sunil and Ms. Kesang Chhoden , ensuring smooth execution. Overall, the session was insightful and impactful, promoting awareness and responsibility towards child welfare.

Workplace Harassment for E-Auto Ladies

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jayanti University, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, organized a Community Organisation Programme in collaboration with Shishu Mandir, Bengaluru. The programme was conducted on 25th March 2026 at Shishu Mandir, Kithaganur, as an awareness session on “Workplace Harassment for E-Auto Ladies.” The session was led by Mrs. Shalini Gavaskar, Community Development Social Worker, with the objective of empowering women e-auto drivers through awareness and knowledge sharing.
A total of 15 e-auto ladies actively participated in the programme. The session began with an introduction of the trainees among the e-auto ladies, creating a comfortable and interactive atmosphere. Following this, the senior e-auto drivers shared their personal experiences with the juniors, explaining the challenges they face while driving, including workplace difficulties and safety concerns. They also discussed how they manage and overcome these problems with confidence and determination, which motivated and encouraged the junior participants.
After the experience-sharing session, the resource person conducted an informative session focusing on workplace harassment, safety measures, and ways to handle difficult situations effectively. The programme was coordinated by student coordinators Ms. Gouri Sunil and Ms. Jincy Ulahannan (1st year MSW students). Overall, the session was meaningful and impactful, enhancing the confidence, awareness, and practical knowledge of the participants, and promoting a sense of solidarity among the e-auto ladies.

Hygiene and Sanitization in Everyday Life

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jayanti University, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, organised a Community Organisation Programme in collaboration with Mar Thoma Opportunity School, Bengaluru. The programme was conducted on 25th March 2026 at Mar Thoma Opportunity School, Bethel Nagar, titled an awareness session on “Hygiene and Sanitisation in Everyday Life” for special children. The session was led by Mrs Kumari, Headmistress and special educator of the school, with the objective of promoting healthy habits and personal hygiene practices among the children in a simple and engaging manner.
A total of 15 special children actively participated in the programme. The educator initiated an interactive discussion by asking the children about their daily routines related to cleanliness, such as brushing teeth, washing hands, and bathing. This encouraged participation and helped in understanding their existing knowledge and practices.
Following this, the special educator conducted various activity-based learning methods, including demonstrations on proper handwashing techniques and maintaining personal cleanliness. Visual aids, simple instructions, and repetitive teaching techniques were used to ensure better understanding among the children. The children were also guided on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and maintaining hygiene at school and at home.
The session included fun activities such as action songs, which helped the children learn hygiene practices in an enjoyable and memorable way. The educator also provided individual attention to children who required additional support, ensuring inclusive participation.
The programme was coordinated by student coordinators Ms Anu Mary Raju and Ms Florence J (1st year MSW). Health Camp as part of its Community Organization Programme

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Global Concerns India (GCI), organized a Health Camp as part of its Community Organization Programme on 25th March 2026 at LR Nagar. The initiative aimed to promote early detection of health issues and enhance health awareness among community members. The programme witnessed the participation of around 33 beneficiaries, reflecting active community engagement and the relevance of such outreach efforts.
The camp was led by Dr. Ankita Mandal, MBBS, Clinical Research Physician at Norwich Clinical Services, who served as the resource person. She conducted basic health check-ups and offered personalized medical consultations to the attendees. With a patient-centered approach, she carefully listened to individuals’ concerns, explained their conditions in simple terms, and provided practical guidance for maintaining better health. Medicines were also distributed based on individual needs, ensuring immediate support for the participants.
The programme was effectively coordinated by MSW students, with the support of student coordinators Ammu Anna George and Alen Antony Michael. The Health Camp not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also emphasized the importance of preventive care and health awareness. Overall, the initiative served as a meaningful step towards community well-being and highlighted the role of social work in bridging gaps in access to basic health services.

Awareness Session on Child Safety and Personal Boundaries

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, organised an awareness programme titled “Child Safety and Personal Boundaries” on 25 March 2026 at Sabatapuram Tuition Centre, KG Halli, Bengaluru, in collaboration with Bosco Nivas. The programme was conducted for 20 students with the objective of creating awareness about personal safety, understanding boundaries, and promoting self-protection among students in their daily lives.
The session focused on helping students understand the importance of personal boundaries, including both physical and emotional aspects. Key topics such as safe touch and unsafe touch were explained in a simple and clear manner. Students were guided on how to recognise uncomfortable situations, respond confidently by saying “no,” and seek support from trusted adults such as parents, teachers, or guardians. The session also emphasised the importance of building self-confidence and encouraging students to express their feelings without fear.
As part of the programme, interactive discussions were conducted to engage students actively. The session created a safe and supportive space where students could listen, respond, and share their thoughts. The participatory approach helped students connect the concepts with their everyday experiences, making the learning more meaningful and effective.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Kalai Vani, Program Coordinator at Bosco Nivas, who delivered the content in an engaging and student-friendly manner. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head department of Social work. The student coordinators, Ms. Shalina Jamatia and Ms. Shanila Takhelmayum, played an active role in organising and conducting the session smoothly.

Awareness Programme on Healthy Mind and Hygiene

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, organized a community programme titled “Awareness Programme on Healthy Mind and Hygiene” on 25 March 2026 at Don Bosco Social Action, Lingarajapuram, in collaboration with BREADS. The programme was organized by II MSW students Mr. Joel Nainan Xavier and Ms. Jessie Mary Pale, with the objective of creating awareness among urban slum women about the importance of mental well-being and personal hygiene. A total of 20 women participated in the programme, making it a meaningful community engagement initiative.
As part of the programme, a formal awareness session was led by Ms. Pranitha P.S, Project Coordinator of MINDS, Bangalore, who provided valuable insights on mental health, hygiene practices, and overall well-being. The session was followed by interactive activities facilitated by the social work trainees, which encouraged participation, engagement, and practical learning. Activities such as awareness games and discussions helped participants better understand the importance of maintaining both mental and physical health in their daily lives.
The programme was informative and engaging, providing a platform for participants to reflect on their lifestyle practices and learn healthier alternatives. It also contributed to enhancing awareness regarding emotional well-being, hygiene practices, and positive behavioural changes. Building a Culture of Road Safety

A Community Organisation Programme titled “Building a Culture of Road Safety” was conducted on 25th March 2026 by the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with United Evangelical Mission India (UEMI), Bangalore. The programme was held at Garden City Jeevitha Anathashrama, located at 1st Building, Maragondanahalli Main Road, Megha City Layout, 1st Cross Road, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Karnataka – 560036.
The aim of the programme was to create awareness among children about the importance of road safety and responsible behaviour while using roads. The session focused on helping children understand basic traffic rules, safety measures for pedestrians, and the importance of being alert and careful while travelling.
The session was conducted by Beulin Daniel, Donor Communication Associate at United Evangelical Mission India, who served as the resource person. She explained the importance of road safety in a simple and interactive manner so that children could easily understand the concepts. Various examples and discussions were used to help the children relate road safety practices to their daily lives.
Around 40 students from 3rd to 10th standards actively participated in the programme. The children listened attentively and engaged in the session with enthusiasm. The interactive nature of the programme helped them learn how to stay safe on roads and understand their responsibility as pedestrians.
The programme was coordinated by Badashisha Ranee and Ibashisha Lakhmie, students from the Department of Social Work. The session concluded successfully with meaningful interaction with the children and encouragement for them to follow road safety rules in their daily lives.

Capacity Building Programme on Women Empowerment and Decision Making

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Sanjeevini – KSRLPS (Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society), organised a Capacity Building Programme on “Women Empowerment and Decision Making” on 25th March 2026, at Thalyamagondlu Panchayat, Nelamangala.
The programme was conducted for women members of the community with the aim of creating awareness about the importance of empowerment and active participation in decision-making processes at family and community levels. The session was facilitated by Mr. Nagesha M, Block Manager, Non-Farm Livelihood, KSRLPS, who explained the concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
During the programme, the resource person highlighted the role of women in leadership, financial independence, and decision-making, and encouraged participants to take active roles in their households and communities. The session was interactive, allowing participants to share their experiences and challenges. A total of 18 members participated in the programme.
The programme was coordinated by II MSW students, Mr. Abhishek Matthew Das and Ms. Akuminla Imchen, who ensured smooth organisation and active participation from the community. Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Liza's Home

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University, in collaboration with Liza’s Home, organised a Health and Hygiene Awareness Session for the caregivers and residents on 24th March 2026. The session was conducted with the aim of promoting awareness about personal hygiene, sanitation, and healthy living practices. A total of 21 participants attended the programme, making it an interactive and engaging experience for everyone involved.
The session was led by Dr. Subramanian, who provided valuable insights on maintaining personal cleanliness, preventing diseases, and ensuring a hygienic environment. The programme was coordinated by student coordinators Feba Mary Suresh (25MSWA20) and Sreelakshmi Ramesh (25MSWA39). The interactive discussion encouraged active participation from both caregivers and residents, helping them better understand the importance of daily hygiene practices.
The student coordinators extended their sincere gratitude to Dr. Molly, Founder of Liza’s Home, and to Ms. Jiji and Ms Mooni for their constant guidance, support, and cooperation throughout the programme. Educational Empowerment of Children

The session, titled “Awareness Session on Educational Empowerment of Children,” aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of education and the need for equal learning opportunities for every child. The resource person, Ms. Sameera Begum, Community Organiser at BOSCO, delivered an informative and meaningful session focusing on the educational empowerment of children.
During the session, students were introduced to the importance of education in shaping their future and the role of society in supporting children’s learning. The resource person explained the need to encourage children to continue their studies, overcome educational barriers, and make use of available opportunities. The programme included interactive discussions, awareness sharing, and simple examples that helped students understand the importance of education in their personal and social development. The session encouraged students to value education and motivated them to take their studies seriously.

Elderly Wellness and Staff Training Programme

A community programme on “Elderly Wellness and Staff Training Programme” was held at Grace Hospital, Rajajinagar on 24 March 2026. It was organised in collaboration with Kristu Jayanti University, Dream India Network, and St. Theresa Multispecialty Hospital, Rajajinagar. The programme aimed to create awareness about the care and well-being of elderly people and to guide staff on how to support them better.
The session was led by Dr. Dileep Kumar P T along with his team. They spoke about the basic needs of elderly people, including their physical and emotional health. They also shared simple ways for caregivers and staff to take good care of them in daily life. The session highlighted the importance of kindness, patience, and respect while caring for the elderly.
The programme also helped participants understand the importance of healthy food habits, emotional well-being, and physical fitness for the elderly. The inmates were introduced to simple and healthy dietary practices, along with ways to maintain a balanced lifestyle. The session encouraged them to take better care of their health and to support each other in maintaining overall well-being.
The programme was conducted from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM and was organised by Ms Christine Anna Kurien and Mr Shalom Sam Shibu, 1st year MSW students. A total of 18 participants attended the programme along with 3 staff members. The session was interactive, and participants actively took part in the discussion. Overall, the programme was helpful in improving understanding of elderly care and support.

Skill Development and Empowerment for Women

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Ashalaya Trust, successfully organised an awareness session on “Skill Development and Empowerment for Women” on 13th March 2026 at Ashalaya Trust, Vidhyanagar, Bangalore. The session aimed to highlight the importance of skill-building initiatives in enhancing the socio-economic status of women and promoting self-reliance. The program was conducted between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, with active participation from beneficiaries and students.
The session was led by Ms Latha KC, a Master Trainer in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), who shared valuable insights into the importance of developing practical skills for sustainable livelihoods. She emphasised the role of education, vocational training, and awareness in empowering women to overcome social and economic challenges. The session included interactive discussions, real-life examples, and guidance on available opportunities for women to enhance their capabilities and confidence.
The event was coordinated by first-year MSW students, Mr Amal Biju and Mr Mohammed Fasil, who ensured the smooth execution of the program. The awareness session proved to be impactful as it motivated participants to explore skill development opportunities and understand their potential for growth and independence. Awareness Session on Health and Hygiene

An awareness session on Health and Hygiene was conducted at GRACE Camilla Centre, Old Bagalur Layout on 12 March 2026 by Student Coordinators Amrik Chesa Ch Marak and Priyankaa, First Year MSW students. The program aimed to create awareness among women on maintaining proper health and hygiene in daily life. A total of 15 participants attended the session.
The program began with a welcome address followed by a lamp lighting ceremony and a short prayer. The session was conducted by Mrs. Deepa, Community Organizer (Social Worker), who highlighted the importance of personal hygiene practices such as regular bathing, wearing clean clothes, and proper handwashing.
She also emphasized maintaining cleanliness while caring for children and the importance of a clean home environment. The resource person encouraged participants to adopt healthy food habits by consuming nutritious home-cooked meals and avoiding junk and processed foods. The benefits of drinking warm water for good health were also discussed.
The session was interactive and helped participants understand simple and practical ways to improve their daily hygiene practices. The program concluded with snacks distribution and a brief evaluation, where participants shared positive feedback. Overall, the session was successful in creating awareness and promoting healthy lifestyle practices among the participants.
