Inauguration of Musical Dance Drama “PARIVARTHAN”
Date: 04 February 2026
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in collaboration with ECHO Theatre, organised the inauguration of the musical dance drama "Parivarthan" on 04 February 2026. The programme focused on the empowerment of children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection. The event was graced by Hon’ble Shri K. J. George, Minister of Energy, Government of Karnataka, as the Chief Guest, and Fr. Dr. Augustine George CMI, Vice Chancellor, Kristu Jayanti University, as the Guest of Honour.
Students from different schools came together to present a powerful and meaningful drama titled "Parivarthan", highlighting the emotional struggles, social challenges, and reformative needs of children in conflict with law. The performance sensitised the audience to the importance of care, compassion, and rehabilitation, leaving a strong social message among the viewers.
The Sub Inspector of Kothanur Police Station, along with two other police officers, were present for the programme and were honoured with shawls as a token of gratitude. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University, who expressed gratitude to all guests, performers, organisers, and participants for the successful conduct of the programme.

Interactive Session on the Social Work Profession: Global Perspectives and Indian Realities

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), organized an interactive session on 02 February 2026 at the A1 Conference Hall, Admin Block, with Dr. Renee Brown, Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Physical Therapy, Belmont University, USA. The session aimed to expose students to global perspectives on the social work profession while strengthening their understanding of its relevance in the Indian context.
Dr. Renee Brown discussed the scope and significance of social work in India, highlighting the critical roles played by social workers in community development, healthcare, education, and social justice. She also interacted with the students on the key challenges faced by social workers in India, such as limited professional recognition, high emotional demands, and resource constraints, emphasizing the need for resilience and ethical practice.
The session further explored the structure of social work education and practice in the United States, focusing on professional training, licensing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research-based practice. The interactive discussion enabled students to compare global practices and reflect on strengthening professional identity, concluding with valuable insights into the evolving role of social work across cultures.

Christmas, New Year Programme
Date: 19 December 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University, organised a Christmas celebration programme on 19th December 2025 with the active participation of faculty members and students. The programme was conducted in a joyful and festive atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of togetherness, gratitude, and celebration.
The programme commenced with a presidential address by Dr. Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Christmas as a time of sharing, unity, and compassion, and encouraged students to uphold these values both in their personal lives and professional practice as future social workers.
Following the address, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, which was graciously done by the faculty members along with the Head of the Department. As a token of appreciation and respect, students presented Christmas gifts to the faculty members and the HoD, expressing their gratitude for their guidance and support.
Adding to the festive spirit, students actively conducted a carol singing session, which brought warmth and cheer to the celebration. The harmonious singing created a lively and joyful environment, making the occasion memorable for all present.
The programme was smoothly coordinated under the initiative and leadership of the Class Representatives, Paulson Jayson and Amrik Chesa, who ensured the effective organisation and seamless execution of the event.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Jonas Richard evaluated the celebration, appreciating the efforts of the students and organisers, and commended the collective participation that contributed to the success of the event.
The Christmas celebration strengthened the bond between students and faculty members and reinforced values of unity, gratitude, and joy within the Department of Social Work.

Mistletoe: Celebrating the Spirit of Christmas, Togetherness, and Gratitude

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), organized “Mistletoe: A Festive Gathering” on 19 December 2025 at A403, Admin Block. The programme was thoughtfully organized by the II Year MSW students, bringing together faculty members and students to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and welcome the New Year. The gathering served as a moment of togetherness, reflection, and gratitude, strengthening the sense of community within the department.
The programme was graced by Dr. Jonas Richard A., Head, Department of Social Work, who addressed the gathering with a heartfelt Christmas and New Year message, emphasizing values of compassion, hope, gratitude, and service. Ms. Rini Varghese also shared a meaningful reflection on “What Christmas Means to Me,” highlighting the importance of love, giving, and human connection. The cultural segment added vibrancy to the celebration, with the II MSW students presenting melodious carol singing, an energetic dance performance, and a soulful violin performance by Ms. Hanna Ann Koshy, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.
As a gesture of joy and togetherness, Christmas presents were distributed to all students, symbolizing sharing and celebration. The programme concluded on a cheerful note with refreshments, leaving everyone with cherished memories. Mistletoe: A Festive Gathering stood as a beautiful expression of unity, festive spirit, and collective celebration within the Department of Social Work.

International Human Rights Day with Quiz Competition on Human Rights
Date: 12 December 2025
The Department of Social Work commemorated International Human Rights Day on 12 December 2025 by organising an interactive Quiz Competition on Human Rights, in line with the theme of International Human Rights Day 2025, “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials.” The programme aimed to create awareness and deepen understanding of human rights as an integral part of everyday life.
The programme was formally addressed by Dr. Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work, who highlighted the importance of human rights education and emphasized the role of students and future social work professionals in safeguarding human dignity, equality, and justice in society.
The quiz competition was conducted with four groups, each comprising three members, encouraging teamwork, active participation, and healthy competition among the students. Dr. Unnikrishnan served as the Quiz Master and efficiently moderated the quiz competition, ensuring a lively, well-organized, and intellectually stimulating session.
The questions covered various dimensions of human rights, including fundamental rights, international human rights frameworks, and contemporary human rights issues. The enthusiastic participation of students reflected their growing awareness and commitment towards understanding human rights as everyday essentials.
The programme successfully enhanced students’ knowledge, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. Through this meaningful initiative, the Department of Social Work reaffirmed its commitment to promoting human rights awareness and fostering socially responsible individuals dedicated to upholding human rights values in all aspects of life.

Human Rights Day Observed with Awareness Programme for Migrant Labour Community
Date: 10 December 2025
The Department of Social Work commemorated International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2025 by organising a thought-provoking debate by the II MSW students titled “Reassessment of Capital Punishment: A Human Rights Debate.” The session was moderated by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head, Department of Social Work. The students were divided into two groups - those supporting and those opposing the motion, setting the stage for an intellectually stimulating discourse.
Throughout the debate, students presented strong and reflective arguments. Those against capital punishment emphasized its irreversible nature, the possibility of judicial error, and the belief that all individuals deserve rehabilitation and a second chance. They stressed empathy and reformative justice as central to human rights. The team supporting the motion argued that capital punishment acts as a deterrent, is reserved for the rarest of rare cases, and is sometimes necessary to ensure public safety and justice for victims. The exchange of perspectives allowed participants to explore ethical, legal, and social dimensions of the issue.
The programme not only enriched students’ understanding of human rights but also strengthened their skills in critical analysis, public speaking, and evidence-based reasoning. By engaging with a sensitive and globally debated topic, the event reinforced the department’s commitment to nurturing socially conscious professionals capable of addressing complex societal issues with empathy and informed judgment.

Human Rights Day Observed with Awareness Programme for Migrant Labour Community
Date: 09 December 2025
The Department of Social Work and the Electoral Literacy Club of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS), commemorated Human Rights Day on 9th December 2025 at Narayanapura Slum. The programme, held from 4:00 p.m. onwards, focused on the theme “Human Rights of Migrant Labour”, addressing the vulnerabilities and challenges faced by migrant families living in urban informal settlements. The representatives of BIRDS, ELC and community and students participated in the event, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding human rights and promoting social justice at the grassroots level.
As part of the initiative, the II MSW students presented a skit highlighting key issues such as the Right to Education and the Prevention of Child Labour. The performance aimed to create awareness among migrant parents and children about their rights, available government schemes, and the importance of education in breaking cycles of exploitation. The interactive sessions that followed encouraged community members to voice concerns and seek guidance, making the programme both impactful and participatory. Through this effort, the department reaffirmed its commitment to empowering marginalized communities and fostering a culture of rights awareness and civic responsibility.

National Institute of Personnel Management (Karnataka Chapter)
Launches NIPM Students Chapter

The Department of Social Work is proud to announce the inauguration of NIPM Student Chapter in association with National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Karnataka Chapter at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) on 11th October 2025. The ceremony highlighted the importance of the Human Intelligence in the era of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Intelligence. The event also emphasized the role of NIPM in envisaging Human Resource Management in today’s contemporary era which involves acting as a central point for employees, fostering a positive work environment, managing performance, developing policies, and supporting the overall growth and productivity of the workforce. The mission of NIPM is to strive towards Creating and sharing new knowledge and insights for business & people management, espousing global quality standards for people practices, promoting people development agenda and providing critical support & solutions to business, government and other stakeholders by leveraging own Expertise, through Collaborations and by Networking.
The event was inaugurated by esteemed Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Vice-Chancellor, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). It also featured notable dignitaries including - Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head, Department of Social Work, Mr. Sanjay Mitra, Chairman, NIPM-Karnataka Chapter, Mr Nagaraj G, Chairman, Institute Interface Committee-NIPM- Karnataka Chapter and Ms Deeksha Shetty, Executive Committee Member, NIPM-Karnataka Chapter.
The day promises to be Educational and Inspiring for the student fraternity. The conduct of National Business Quiz positively fostered students ’ critical thinking ability and understanding of interlinkage between academia and industrial sectors to an extent. Students from various institutes like Kristu Jayanti University, Chanakya University, Nagarjuna Degree College, BMS College of Engineering, St. Joseph Institute of Management and Siddanga Instuitute of Technology have participated in the quiz. The first position was bagged by St. Joseph Institute and BMS College of Engineering secured second and third positions respectively.Needless to say, it was an insightful and engaging experience for the students.
The event provided a great platform to understand the significance of professional networking and the role of NIPM in shaping HR and management practices. The interactive quiz session encouraged active participation and helped to gain practical perspectives from industry experts. The business quiz added a knowledgeable yet competitive element, enhancing the teamwork and analytical skills. Overall, the programme was both enriching and motivating for all the students.

Basic Life Support Training
Date: 29 September 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University, in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals, Sheshadripuram, organised a session on Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for first-year MSW students on 29th September 2025. The training session aimed to provide basic hands-on training to the students for the medical emergency. The session, led by Mr Manjunath, Nursing In-charge at Apollo Hospitals, focused on essential life-saving techniques, including CPR, managing unconscious victims, and first aid for choking, snake bites, and other emergencies. The interactive demonstration helped students gain practical knowledge and confidence to respond effectively during critical situations. The programme enhanced the participants’ understanding of emergency care and emphasised the importance of timely action in saving lives.

World Suicide Prevention Day
Date: 11 September 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University, organized a Suicide Prevention Programme on 11th September 2025, in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day. The event aimed to create awareness about mental health, emphasize the importance of timely support, and encourage positive coping mechanisms.
As part of the programme, the students prepared and presented informative posters highlighting facts, myths, and preventive strategies related to suicide. In addition, a role play was performed by the students to depict real-life situations and the need for empathy, timely intervention, and professional help in addressing mental health challenges.
The initiative provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity and advocacy skills while spreading awareness on such a crucial issue. The programme successfully engaged both faculty and students, reaffirming the department’s commitment to mental health promotion and social responsibility.

Placement Orientation and Training Programme
Date: 11 September 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University in collaboration with Centre for Employability and Corporate s (CECR) organized a Placement Orientation Programme for the II year MSW students on 11th of September 2025. The programme was held with the objective of equipping the students with the necessary skills, insights, and preparedness for their upcoming placement opportunities.
Prof. Sen B. Mathews, Director, CECR an eminent academician served as the Resource Person for the session. In his address, Prof. Mathews emphasized the importance of professional competency, communication skills, and ethical practices in securing meaningful placements. He highlighted how MSW graduates can position themselves in diverse sectors including NGOs, CSR projects, healthcare, development agencies, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The orientation also included interactive discussions on resume preparation, interview techniques, and strategies for career development. Prof. Mathews encouraged the students to be proactive in understanding organizational expectations and aligning their skills with the needs of the job market.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer round, where students clarified their doubts regarding placement processes, sector-specific opportunities, and long-term career prospects. The programme was highly enriching and motivating, providing valuable guidance to the students as they prepare for their professional journey.

Teachers Day Celebration
Date: 03 & 04 September 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University, organized the Teacher’s Day celebration on the 3rd and 4th of September 2025. The program was coordinated and hosted by the MSW I and II-year students as a gesture of gratitude and respect towards the teaching fraternity.
The celebration commenced with a formal welcome address, followed by cultural performances including songs, dances, skits, and fun games, which highlighted the role of teachers in shaping the lives of students. Students also expressed their appreciation through speeches and creative presentations. Faculty members actively participated in the activities, making the event more engaging and joyful.
The program served as a platform to strengthen the bond between teachers and students, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with respect, admiration, and joy. The two-day celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, extending heartfelt gratitude to all faculty members for their guidance and constant support.

Life Skill Education on Decision Making Skills for Every Day Life
Date: 29 August 2025
The Department of Social Work, in collaboration with the Centre for Life Skills Education (CLSE), organized an invited talk on the topic “Decision Making Skills for Everyday Life” on 29th August 2025 as part of the academic year 2025–2026 activities. The session was attended by students of II Year MSW, with a total of 43 beneficiaries. The objective of the programme is to enhance students’ decision-making skills by providing clear cut strategies for both professional and personal scenarios. To develop the necessary confidence to help learners make healthy decisions in stressful situations
The resource person for the session was Ms. Christa Grace, Assistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science, Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru. She emphasized the importance of decision making as a vital life skill for making informed and responsible decisions for both personal and professional growth. The session began with an interactive discussion on everyday decision-making situations and the challenges faced while choosing between alternatives. The key steps in decision making including identifying the problem, exploring options, weighing pros and cons and evaluating consequences were all explained to students.
The highlight of the session was practical activities including moral dilemmas where students had to make rational choices rather than being swayed with emotions. Students also learned the value of critical thinking, self-awareness, and accountability in making good decisions. Students actively interacted with the resource person, gaining clarity on how to make quality day to day and life decisions.
Overall, the programme was highly impactful as it motivated students to make rational and informed decisions and to take proactive steps toward achieving success in their academic and professional journeys.

International Day of Friendship

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), organised a special programme on the occasion of the International Day of Friendship for the MSW students on 18th August 2025. The event aimed to highlight the significance of friendship as a foundation for fostering peace, solidarity, and mutual understanding in both personal and professional spheres.
The programme opened with a welcome address by the student coordinator Ms Monica that underlined the values of trust, respect, empathy, and collaboration, which are central to building strong friendships and essential qualities for social work professionals. Faculty members emphasized how friendship transcends cultural, religious, and social barriers, promoting a sense of unity and inclusivity.
As part of the celebration, students engaged in interactive activities, group discussions, and creative presentations that reflected on the role of friendship in promoting mental well-being, teamwork, and community building. These sessions encouraged students to share their own experiences and perspectives, thereby strengthening bonds within the MSW fraternity.
The event concluded with reflections from faculty and students, reinforcing the idea that friendship is not only a personal bond but also a social responsibility, especially for future social workers committed to building compassionate and inclusive communities.
The celebration successfully instilled a spirit of togetherness and reminded the students of the importance of friendship in shaping human relationships and fostering social harmony.

Observes a Session on Anti-Ragging Week
Date: 12 to 18 August 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), organised a special session on Anti-Ragging Week (12th – 18th August 2025) for the MSW I and II-year students on 18th August 2025. The initiative was in line with the University Grants Commission’s directives to spread awareness and ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment within the campus.
The session highlighted the objectives of Anti-Ragging Week, emphasizing the importance of creating a ragging-free academic atmosphere. Faculty members addressed the legal provisions of the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging (2009) and the consequences of ragging both in educational institutions and in the broader societal context.
Students were sensitized about the psychological, emotional, and academic impact of ragging, and the need to uphold values of dignity, respect, and peer support. The session also discussed the roles and responsibilities of students in preventing ragging and the various mechanisms for reporting and grievance redressal within the institution.
The programme included interactive discussions, short presentations, and case-based reflections which helped students understand the significance of fostering a culture of empathy, solidarity, and safety on campus. Both I and II year MSW students actively participated, sharing their perspectives and committing to uphold the spirit of a ragging-free community.
The session concluded with a collective pledge by the students and faculty to maintain a safe and supportive academic environment, thus reiterating the Department’s commitment to zero tolerance towards ragging.

Observation Visit to Manna Trust
Date: 01 August 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University, organized an observation visit for the I Semester MSW students on 01st of August 2025 to MANNA Trust, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. The visit aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to disability management, community-based interventions, and holistic care practices. The objectives of the visit is to understand the functions and programs of MANNA Trust for persons with developmental disabilities and to observe rehabilitation techniques, inclusive practices, and support systems.
Students observed various programs, including therapeutic sessions, skill development workshops, and recreational activities designed for individuals with developmental disabilities. Students interacted with social workers, therapists, and beneficiaries to understand challenges faced by persons with disabilities and strategies adopted by the organization. The observation visit was an enriching learning experience, allowing students to bridge theory with practice. It emphasized the critical role of social workers in empowering persons with developmental disabilities, promoting inclusion, and supporting families. Students expressed interest in further engagement with the Trust for practical exposure and internships.
The visit to MANNA Trust provided MSW students with valuable insights into developmental disability management and intervention strategies. Such exposure strengthens students’ professional competence and empathy, essential for a career in social work.

Observation Visit to BIRDS
Date: 31 July 2025
The MSW students from Kristu Jayanti Deemed to be University visited Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS) as part of their academic curriculum. The session was facilitated by Dr. Jonas Richard A., Head, Department of Social Work, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the visit, emphasizing the importance of grassroots engagement and participatory development. To help I MSW students understand the structure, functioning, and intervention strategies of a voluntary organization that addresses the issues of marginalized communities; and to bridge classroom learning with field realities by enabling students to directly interact with social work professionals and observe ongoing development initiatives.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Br. A. James Antony, the Director of BIRDS, who gave an inspiring introduction to the organization's vision, mission, and journey since its inception in 1997. Br. James explained how BIRDS was founded with the goal of addressing the multiple socio-economic challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly women and children, in rural areas. Over the years, BIRDS has expanded its operations to cover over 200 villages, with a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment, child rights, education, health, self-help group formation, livelihood enhancement, and community leadership development.
The students were taken through various community development models initiated by the organization. Br. James highlighted BIRDS’s collaborative work with government schemes, corporate CSR funding, and international donor agencies to implement sustainable and community-led initiatives. The students were also introduced to the organization’s participatory approach, wherein the community is empowered to take ownership of development activities.
During the interaction, the students learned about the functioning of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), microfinance support to women entrepreneurs, vocational skill training for rural youth, and intervention Programmes for vulnerable children. They also got insights into BIRDS’ focus on gender equity, environmental sustainability, and inclusive education. A short field exposure was provided to help students observe ongoing community initiatives, such as income-generating activities and awareness drives. Dr. Jonas Richard contextualized the work of BIRDS within the larger framework of social work education and encouraged students to critically analyse the methodologies used by the organization and compare them with theoretical models taught in the classroom.

Observation Visit to Visthar
Date: 31 July 2025
The I MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University, Bengaluru, undertook an enriching observation visit to VISTHAR, a well-known Civil Society Organization, as part of their academic curriculum. The visit was guided and coordinated by Dr. Jonas Richard A., Head, Department of Social Work, who introduced the purpose of the visit and the longstanding contribution of VISTHAR to social justice initiatives in India. The students were welcomed by Ms. Savithri, Program Manager at VISTHAR. To expose the I MSW students to the workings of a civil society organization rooted in social justice and peacebuilding and gain insight into community-based interventions, advocacy models, and participatory approaches to social change, there by bridging classroom learning with grassroots realities
Ms. Savithri provided a comprehensive orientation to the students on the organization’s background, vision, and operational framework. Established in 1989, VISTHAR has been dedicated to working for the empowerment of marginalized communities, with a special focus on women and children. The organization operates as both a resource center and a training institution for development practitioners and social workers. It has supported numerous NGOs across the country and collaborated with grassroots organizations to build sustainable, inclusive communities.
During the session, students were introduced to VISTHAR’s thematic focus areas, including bonded labor, child rights, gender-based violence, mental health, alcoholism, and suicide prevention. One of the most impactful components of the visit was the visual and experiential exhibit a powerful display of handcrafted dolls, each depicting the lived realities of individuals affected by these social issues. The students were moved by the representation of trauma, silence, and resistance conveyed through this artistic installation. It served as a medium of storytelling that bridged art and activism, helping students internalize the gravity of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
The students also explored VISTHAR’s eco-conscious campus, which is designed with sustainable living principles such as rainwater harvesting, permaculture farming, and use of solar energy. This gave the students a broader understanding of how social justice is connected to ecological balance and sustainability.
The visit included discussions on VISTHAR’s educational initiatives such as workshops, gender sensitivity training, capacity-building programs, and it’s Fellowship on Gender, Religion, and Development, which has trained numerous practitioners across South Asia. Students were encouraged to think critically about the intersectionality of caste, class, gender, and religion in the context of social work practice.

Life Skills Education for Social Work Professionals
Date: 25 to 29 July 2025
The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organized a Life Skills Education Programme for the first-year MSW students from 25th to 29th July 2025 at Conclave Hall, Admin Block. This week-long initiative aimed to provide an orientation to essential life skills tailored for aspiring social work professionals.
The sessions were facilitated by the faculty members of the Department of Social Work and served as the students’ first formal engagement in the academic year. The programme focused on enhancing core competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, empathy, effective communication, decision-making, and interpersonal relationship skills, considered foundational in the field of social work.
Each day of the programme emphasized different domains of life skills. Through interactive sessions, reflective exercises, and small group activities, the students were encouraged to examine their personal growth, understand the value of mental and physical well-being, and cultivate skills that would strengthen their practice in the field. The sessions also aimed at helping the students develop a deeper understanding of the “person-in-environment” perspective central to the discipline of social work.
The initiative marked an important step in introducing students to the professional expectations of the course while promoting self-development and peer bonding. It also reflected the department’s commitment to nurturing holistic and competent social work professionals from the very outset of their academic journey.

Inter Collegiate Fest EUNOIA 2025 Echoes of Wisdom: Voices of Change

The successfully organized its annual intercollegiate fest EUNOIA 2025 themed with echoes of wisdom: voices of choice on 5th April 2025 at H1 Audi, Humanities Block. The term Eunoia, meaning “beautiful thinking” in Greek, reflects the spirit of the event — a celebration of creativity, intellect, and community engagement among students from various institutions.

Poster Presentation on International Women’s Day

The Department of the Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organised a poster presentation on commemorate International Women’s Day on 8th of March, 2025 by the MSW students. The event aimed to raise awareness about women's rights, gender equality, and the ongoing struggles women face around the world. The poster presentation served as a creative and educational platform to spark discussions on women's empowerment, health, safety, and other issues affecting women in various communities. The objective of the poster presentation is to encourage students to engage with and reflect on the challenges and opportunities for women in different spheres of life. And to promote social change and inspire future social work practitioners to work towards gender justice
The posters were displayed in A1 Auditorium where both students and faculty could visit, engage, and interact with the posters. Each poster was crafted by the MSW I Year students, representing different aspects of women’s lives, ranging from gender-based violence, women in leadership, access to education, women’s health, economic empowerment, to women’s participation in social movements. The visual appeal of each poster was designed to evoke strong emotional responses and spark further conversations about the need for equality.
Poster Presentation on International Women’s Day, organized by the MSW I Year students of the Department of Social Work, was a successful and thought-provoking event. It allowed students to not only celebrate the achievements of women but also reflect on the challenges that need continuous efforts to address. Alumni Interaction Series on Role of Social Workers in Industrial Relations

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru organised an Alumni Interaction Series Orientation on Role of Social Workers in Industrial Relations for II MSW students on 1st March 2025. The objective of the programme is to provide students with valuable insights into the significance of social work in industrial settings, the role of social workers in maintaining workplace harmony, and strategies for conflict resolution. To understand the role of social workers in industrial relations and labour welfare. The resource person Ms. Upasana Das is the Alumni of Department of Social Work from 2022-2024 batch. Presently she is working as HR generalist at HIL, CK Birla Group, New Delhi.
The session featured key aspects of industrial relations such as labour rights, dispute resolution, and employee well-being. The session highlighted the role of Social Workers in Industrial Relations focusing Labor welfare policies and employee rights, Workplace conflict resolution and negotiation skills, Occupational health and safety measures, Mental health support and employee counselling. The students had the opportunity to interact with alumni, and Increased awareness of the role of social workers in industrial settings. Valuable career insights and real-world applications of industrial social work. Enhanced student confidence in pursuing careers in industrial relations and labour welfare.

The objective of the Interaction was to create understanding and insight to the Skills of Human Resource Management in Corporate. To provide an opportunity for the social work students to get an opportunity to orient on HR Skills of Corporate houses. The resource person Ms Anusha V is a student of Social Work department from 2022-2024 batch. Presently she is working as HR Generalist in Humanetics Innovative Solution, Bangalore.
The orientation session was started with a prayer and followed with welcome and introduction of the resource person. Ms. Anusha shared her learning experiences and talked about HR Skills required for jobs in Corporate Sectors. The session featured an engaging discussion on Talent acquisition and recruitment strategies, Employee engagement and workplace culture, Performance management and HR analytics, Conflict resolution and labour law. Students had the opportunity to interact with alumni, ask questions, and seek career advice. The session encouraged students to connect with alumni for further guidance and mentorship.

The Department of Social Work, in collaboration with Sumangali Seva Ashrama, successfully organized a community organization programme titled Pathway to Healthy Aging on 28th February 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about healthy aging practices and promote the well-being of senior citizens through various activities, expert discussions, and interactive sessions. The objectivse of the programme are to educate elderly individuals on healthy lifestyle choices, including diet, exercise, and mental well-being. To provide a platform for senior citizens to engage in social activities and share their experiences. To offer expert guidance on age-related health concerns and preventive care. To promote intergenerational interaction and community support for the elderly.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the student coordinators of the Department of Social Work and Sumangalli Seva Ashrama. The resource person Mrs Radha, Nursing Assistant provided an informative and insightful session on topics such as nutrition, exercise, cognitive health, and stress management. She also addressed on aging-related challenges and shared practical solutions for a healthier lifestyle by focusing on encouraging social engagement, participants showcased their talents in singing, storytelling, and traditional art forms. The programme received an overwhelming response from senior citizens, caregivers, and community members. The event successfully increased awareness about the importance of healthy aging. Encouraged elderly individuals to adopt a more active and fulfilling lifestyle. Strengthened community support networks for the elderly. The session aimed to educate students, teachers, and the local community about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and promoting overall well-being, which are crucial for preventing diseases and fostering healthy habits.
The primary goal was to raise awareness about the significance of personal hygiene practices, such as handwashing, maintaining oral hygiene, and proper sanitation. To Enhance Well- Being. The session also aimed to educate the community about basic health practices, proper nutrition, and the importance of physical and mental well-being. The session sought to empower students and teachers with knowledge and practical tools to maintain hygiene, which will positively impact their daily lives. The topics are covered in the session are Personal Hygiene Practices, Sanitation and Clean Environment, Nutrition and Health and Mental Well-Being etc. The session included interactive activities such as role-playing and demonstrations of proper handwashing techniques, which engaged students and reinforced the message in a fun and practical manner.

Jayantian Extension Services (JES) & Narayana Nethralaya organises Nayana Eye Camp

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College in collaboration with the Jayantian Extension Service, Kristu Jayanti College and Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru organized an Eye Check-Up Camp specifically for senior citizens on 20th of February 2025 at Preethi Nivas Trust, Bengaluru. The event was aimed at providing essential eye care and health awareness to the elderly population, ensuring that they have access to basic medical services. This initiative is part of the college's broader commitment to community outreach and social welfare. The objective of the camp is to provide free eye care Many senior citizens face vision-related issues, which are often neglected due to financial constraints. The camp aimed to provide them with free eye exams and consultations.
The camp was started with a welcome address to all the guest of the programme followed by the eye check-up. The camp also sought to educate senior citizens about the importance of regular eye check-ups, common age-related eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, and preventive measures to maintain good vision. The camp was supported by a team of qualified ophthalmologists, medical professionals, and nursing staff who ensured that all the senior citizens received the best possible care. The student coordinators of Department of Social Work were coordinated the camp and they found a sponsor for providing the eye glasses to all senior Citizens of the ashram.
The senior citizens expressed immense gratitude for the eye check-up camp. Many participants shared that they had not received an eye examination for years and were unaware of existing vision problems. The camp offered them an opportunity to gain a better understanding of their eye health, and many left with corrective lenses, significantly improving their quality of life. The camp reinforced the college's ongoing commitment to social outreach, creating positive impacts on the lives of vulnerable members of society.

Empathy in Action (Role Play)

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru organises a role play session on Empathy in Action for II MSW students on 7th of February 2025. The session aimed to foster emotional intelligence, active listening, and compassionate engagement in various social work scenarios. The key objective of the sessions are to demonstrate the significance of empathy in social work interactions, to develop communication and interpersonal skills, and to provide practical exposure to handling sensitive situations with empathy.
The role-play session consisted of multiple real-life scenarios where empathy plays a crucial role. The students’ enacted situations involving counselling a distressed individual by demonstrating active listening and providing emotional support. Supporting a victim of domestic violence by showcasing non-judgmental understanding and crisis intervention techniques. Helping a homeless person with addressing basic needs while ensuring dignity and respect.
Assistsing a child in a vulnerable situation with understanding child psychology and responding with sensitivity. Conflict resolution in a community setting with mediating disputes with fairness and empathy. The role play session also highlighted the importance of perspective-taking in social work practice, building trust and rapport with clients through empathetic communication, Strategies to manage emotions and biases while engaging with diverse populations. And the role of body language, tone, and verbal signs in demonstrating empathy.
The Empathy in Action role-play session was a valuable learning experience for the II MSW students. It reinforced the necessity of empathy in social work practice and provided hands-on experience in handling challenging situations with compassion and understanding. Career Orientation Programme on Get Ready for Opportunities

Com Students of D Section on 1st of February 2025. The event aimed to equip students with essential skills, knowledge, and insights to navigate their career paths effectively.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sathish Kumar R, Faculty Department of Social Work an esteemed academic and career mentor, along with dedicated student coordinators, Ms. Angelin, and Ms. Debora, II MSW Students. The programme highlighted guidance on career prospects for B. Com graduates, emphasizing opportunities in Mater in Social Work. The session included discussions on the scope and job opportunities in the fields of Social Work at national and International Level.
The session is an interactive one where Students actively participated in a Q & A session, gaining clarity on various career paths and higher education options in Social Work. The event also facilitated networking among students and faculty members, encouraging peer discussions on career aspirations. Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organised an exposure visit named Global Perspectives: Exploring Social Initiatives for the Professors from Michigan University, USA to the Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS), Bengaluru on 28th of January 2025. The aim of the visit is to provide an insightful community work experiences to the delegates. And to know the role and functions of the BIRDS organisation in providing community services at grass root level. A team of five members Dr Sapna Thwaite, Vice Provost, Academic Affairs, Dr Zachariah Mathew, Direstor, Centre for Global Engagement and Senior International Officer, University, Dr Jeramy Lee Donovan, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Dr.Stein Erik Brunvnd, Associate Dean of the College of Education, University of Michigan along with one Ph.D. Scholar have visited the organisation.
The visit was coordinated by Dr Bijaya Laxmi Sahoo, Associate Professor of Department of Social Work along with all the members from the Michigan University, USA. The team was welcomed by the Br. James Antony, Director, BIRDS to the organisation. The introduction session started with a power Point Presentation with details of the activities carried out by the organisation. In the presentation Br. James elaborated the Mission and Vision of the Organisation. Organisation structure and functions of BIRDS. He also highlighted the programmes and services of the BIRDS in detail. The programmes of rural development, providing health care services to children and community people. Working for Women Empowerment for domestic workers, Tuition services to the children belongs to economically backward classes. Providing services to the migrants’ communities of the Bengaluru etc. were the focus of the organisation. The team also enquired about many important aspects of the Organisation like Funding, Human resources, and challenges enquired by the members of BIRDS. The visit came to an end with a vote of thanks to all the Members from the Michigan University.
The team also had a very interactive session with all the staff members of BIRDS. The project Coordinator of BIRDS have elaborated more related to the implementation of the programmes for the community people. The team has also expressed their satisfaction and gratitude towards the staff of BIRDS and impressed by the efforts have been doing for the upliftment of the Marginalised people of the Society.

Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat: A Cultural Exchange and Collaboration With Bengaluru North University and Maharshi Dayanand University, MDU, Haryana

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru in collaboration with Bengaluru North University (BNU), Bengaluru and Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Haryana organized a Cultural Exchange and Collaboration programme named “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” on 20th January 2025 at Kristu Jayanti College. The objective of the programme is to explore and experience the cultural diversity of India by visiting and exchanging language, dance and music. This collaboration aims to deepen mutual understanding, enhance cultural diversity, and strengthen the spirit of unity in India. The programme seeks to strengthen the fabric of emotional bonds among citizens through cultural exchange, language learning, and knowledge sharing. Under this programme a team of 20 members including 16 students and 3 faculty members have visited Kristu Jayanti College from 20th to 21st January 2025.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Niranjan Vanalli, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore North University, Shri. C.N Shridhar, Registrar, Bengaluru North University, Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, Dr Aloysius Edward J, Dean & Professor, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Dr Karamvir Sheokand, Deputy Director, University Outreach Programme, MDU, Harayana and Dr. Geeta Dhani, Faculty representatives from Maharshi Dayanand University Haryana.
Prof Niranjan Vanalli, Vice Chancellor, Bengaluru North University have addressed the audience by giving importance to the partnership represents the essence of unity in diversity through bridging cultural gaps and promoting a sense of national pride among students and faculties of different educational Institutions. Fr. Dr Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College shared the achievements and success of Kristu Jayanti College in different categories as per NEP with the audience. He also expressed his happiness and gratitude towards the students and faculties of Maharshi Dayananad University, Haryana. He also added collaboration with Bengaluru University and Maharshi Dayanand University, Haryana will serve as a platform to celebrate our shared heritage while respecting regional distinctiveness.
On this occasion, a cultural exchange programme was conducted by the Literary and Cultural Association (LCA) of Kristu Jayanti College. The cultural programme included all the aspects of the diversity in Dance, Music and literature. It was started with a classical dance performed by LCA, Kristu Jayanti College followed by a melodious western song and dance by students of Kristu Jayanti College. One solo folk dance was performed by student representative of MDU, Harayana. The last item of the cultural programme was an eastern song reflected the cultural diversity of India.
The programme “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” was ended with a sense of gratitude and thanks giving to all the representatives of MDU, Haryana and Faculties of Bengaluru North University, and students and Faculties of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru for their remarkable contribution to make this programme a successful one.

The event aimed to foster teamwork, creativity, and academic engagement among students. A variety of activities like Ventures of Vision Social Entrepreneurship Pitch, Uncharted Perspectives Debate, Penning Perspectives Essay Writing, The Infinite Quest Quiz, Role paly Echos of understanding, Treasure Hunt, Photography, Reel Making were conducted, focusing on professional and extracurricular skills.
The Fest was commenced with a formal welcome to the all the guest and the participants. Followed by all the events. The fest featured multiple events categories in to academic, cultural and recreational segments. Debate, and essay writing engaging discussions on topics related to social work and social policies. In quiz competition a general knowledge and social work related questions encourage learning in fun way. Role paly performances highlighting social issues like gender equality, mental health, and child rights. In recreational category photography and reel making events were organised by the students. The event fostered teamwork, leadership, and networking among students. Ms. Vimla, Faculty of Psychology and Dr. Subramanian, Faculty, Department of Social Work were the judges for the events. Faculty members and judges appreciated the creativity and dedication of the students.

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru successfully organized a career orientation programme titled "Get Ready for Opportunities" for the final-year B.A. Economics students on 10th of January 2025. The event aimed to equip students with essential skills, knowledge, and insights to navigate their career paths effectively.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr.Sathish Kumar R, Faculty Department of Social Work an esteemed academic and career mentor, along with dedicated student coordinators, Ms. Angelin and Ms. Debora, II MSW Students. The programme highlighted guidance on career prospects for Economics graduates, emphasizing opportunities in Mater in Social Work. The session included discussions on the scope and job opportunities in fields of Social Work at national and International Level.
The session is an interactive one where Students actively participated in a Q&A session, gaining clarity on various career paths and higher education options in Social Work. The event also facilitated networking among students and faculty members, encouraging peer discussions on career aspirations. The programme was well-received, with students expressing appreciation for the practical insights and motivation they gained. The efforts of the coordinators, Ms. Angelin and Ms. Debora, II MSW students were expressed their experience in Social Work Education exposures and experiential learning experiences with the students.
"Get Ready for Opportunities” programme proved to be a highly beneficial initiative, guiding final-year students toward informed and successful career choices.

New Year Extravaganza “Celestia 2025”

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organised New Year programme named Celestia on 4th January 2025. The objective of the programme is to start the New Year with a bright smile and sprit to work hard to accomplish the task. The programme was started with a prayer by the Choir team of the department. Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head, Department of Social Work inaugurated the programme with a vibrant speech addressing to the students. He highlighted the importance of hardwork and dedication are key pillar to the success. And wish the students good luck and best in their life. Then the programme was run by the student coordinators of the programme. The students performed dance and song on the occasion of the New Year.
The programme is full of fun and happiness with the efforts of the students. The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks to all the articipants to make this programme successful.

Bright Smiles for Future Stars

The Department of Social Work organized *Bright Smiles for Future Stars* to bring Christmas cheer to parentless children from various NGOs on 19th of December 2024. The program ‘Bright Smiles for Future Stars’ was organized with the primary objective of spreading joy and fostering a sense of belonging among parentless children during the festive season. The program commenced with a formal session hosted by Ms. Anagha Sajan, who warmly welcomed the children and highlighted the significance of the celebration. This was followed by an informal session led by Ms. Cindrella Beena, featuring vibrant dance performances, a melodious group song, and enthusiastic carol singing. The children actively participated in games and showcased their talents through captivating dance performances.
Social work trainees aimed to create a memorable Christmas celebration by engaging children from various NGOs in interactive and fun-filled activities that nurtured their emotional well-being. The initiative sought to provide a platform for these children to experience the warmth and togetherness of the holiday spirit while reinforcing the values of love, care, and community support. Additionally, the trainees emphasized the importance of shared meals by hosting a special dinner, symbolizing unity and compassion, and ensuring that every child felt cherished and valued during the event.
A heart-warming cake-cutting ceremony symbolized the festive spirit, after which dinner was served, fostering a sense of togetherness. Each child received thoughtful gifts, bringing smiles and joy to their faces. The program concluded successfully, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved. The efforts of the social work trainees truly embodied the spirit of Christmas, spreading love, happiness, and hope among the children.

‘Mitra Milan’- A collaborative exchange

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College organised a collaboration and exchange programme named ‘Mitra Milan Program’ on 16th of December 2024 aimed to enhance meaningful interactions and cultural exchange between the students of Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, and Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore. A team of 60 students along with 3 faculties from Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur had visited the department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College This collaborative initiative provided a platform for students to share insights about their respective institutions, including academic structures, the Social Work course curriculum, and unique teaching methodologies. Additionally, the program aimed to encourage discussions about extracurricular and recreational activities, enhancing mutual understanding and promoting ideas for holistic development. By facilitating this exchange of information and experiences, the program sought to build connections, broaden perspectives, and inspire innovative approaches in social work education and student engagement.
Both colleges provided a comprehensive overview of their respective institutions, covering aspects such as infrastructure, faculty, clubs, curriculum highlights, student development initiatives, community engagement, and practical exposure. The presentations also shed light on the placement opportunities available to students, reflecting the real-world applicability of their academic training.
The session was followed by a group activity to discuss on the various settings of Social work and their implications on other fields of life. The activity led the students to make a tour around the campus and also indulge in meaningful discussions. The Mitra Milan program successfully fostered a spirit of camaraderie and learning, bridging institutions through shared experiences and mutual growth. Such exchanges enrich academic and professional perspectives, contributing significantly to the holistic development of social work students.
The students expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback on the program, highlighting its value as an enriching and eye-opening experience. They appreciated the opportunity to interact with peers from a different institution, exchanging ideas and insights about the field of social work. Many students commended the presentations for their clarity and depth, which provided a comprehensive understanding of the respective colleges’ programs, infrastructure, and community initiatives. The exposure to diverse approaches in social work education and practice inspired students to explore innovative strategies for their future endeavours. Overall, the program was praised for fostering collaboration, enhancing professional knowledge, and encouraging a broader perspective on social work as a discipline.

Jingle & Joy

The Department of Social Work organised a a Christmas celebration, at Guanella Preethi Nivas, on the 16th of December, 2024, as an initiative aimed to spread joy, foster emotional connections, and create a festive atmosphere for the elderly residents, reflecting the true spirit of Christmas.Christmas is a season of love, joy, and togetherness- a time to spread cheer & create memories with those around us. In the spirit of the festival, celebrating Christmas with senior citizens is a meaningful way to bring warmth and happiness to their lives. Many elderly individuals in old-age homes experience feelings of loneliness, and this celebration aims to remind them that they are cherished and valued. It is indeed an opportunity to share the joy of the season, foster intergenerational bonding, and create a festive atmosphere filled with love, music and laughter.
The Program started off at 6:30 pm with a formal session, wherein the Emcee, Ms. Abiya Susan Tojo (Student Coordinator), welcomed everyone gathered for the celebration. She then invited the department choir to lead the gathering into a soulful prayer song. After the Prayer Song, the emcee, invited Fr. Kulandaisamy, Director, of Guanella Preethi Nivas to address the crowd, followed by a short address by Dr. Jonas Richard A. The formal session ended with Felicitating both Dr. Jonas, as well as the Fathers running the institution.
The informal session began with the entry of the Santa Claus, carrying an infectious energy, into the space. Following this, the informal session Emcees, Ms. Heera S. Xavier and Ms. Indira Renjini Roy, took over, and invited the groups for the cultural performances, which included two dance performances, few performances by the elderly members, and a game for the senior citizens. The informal session came to an end, with a Vote of Thanks, extended by Ms. Deborah Daniel (student coordinator), and a cake cutting ceremony. Following this the Senior Citizens, were led to the dining room for their dinner, and while some students served them dinner, the rest of the students gathered together to sing the carols, capturing the essence of Christmas, by ensuring they have a joyful dining experience. With that the program came to a successful completion.

Orientation Session on Perinatal Social Work (Offline)

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized an orientation session on Perinatal Social Work on 14th of December 2024. The objective of the orientation session was to enhance the students’ understanding of the psychosocial, emotional, and practical needs of mothers and families during the perinatal period. It aims to equip students with skills to provide holistic support to prospective clients and their loved ones.
The first session was on Overview of Mental Health and Mental Health Disorders’ by Mr. Ripuidaman Singh. He defined mental disorders as conditions that disrupt thinking, emotion, and behavior, and elaborated on their causes, ranging from genetic predispositions to trauma and stress. Symptoms such as persistent sadness, withdrawal, and mood changes were identified as indicators of possible mental health disorders. The session categorized mental disorders into areas like anxiety, mood, psychotic, and personality disorders. The Second session was on Woman Physiology and Mental Health’ by Mr. Manukrishnan. The session shed light on the menstrual cycle, highlighting common symptoms, the distinction between Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), and the causes and management of dysmenorrhea. Emphasis was placed on the psychological impact of these conditions and the importance of awareness and support. Pregnancy and childbirth were discussed as transformative phases, encompassing the physical, hormonal, and emotional challenges faced by women, alongside the need for postnatal care.
The Third and last session was on Perinatal Mental Health’ by Mr. Remy Lobo. Mr. Remy Lobo delivered an insightful session on the critical topic of perinatal mental health, emphasizing its importance in maternal and family well-being. He began by addressing common myths and facts, breaking misconceptions about perinatal mental health to promote a better understanding of its complexities.

Student-Led Seminar on Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, organized a Student-led Seminar based on this year’s theme “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”,, on the 10th of December, 2024 for the 2nd Year MSW students. The objective of organizing this student-led seminar was to commemorate the Human Rights Day, which is observed every year, on the 10th of December- the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s Human Rights Day theme was, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”, which focused on how human rights are a pathway to solutions, playing a critical role as a preventive, protective and transformative force for good.
The moderator, Ms. Riya, started off with a small introduction on why they had all gathered together for this particular seminar. With that, the speakers began talking on their individual topics. Ms. Greeshma Maria Mathew, gave a brief context and background of this day, and pointed out the importance of commemorating this day. The next to go was, Ms. Sorormi Jessy Zimik, who highlighted the vitality and the need of promoting and protecting Human Rights in today’s scenario, who was followed by Mr. Sebastian Paul, who dealt with the philosophical reasoning behind the idea and concept of Human Rights. Next in line was, Ms. Riteeka Chourasiya, who pointed out the various roles that are played by social workers in the field of Human Rights. Ms. Riya, the moderator, gave a summarised conclusion of all of their speeches, and urged her fellow batch mates to become fighters of Human rights, who ensure that every other person out there in the world, finds their voice and their ability to stand up for themselves.
As the student-led seminar came to an end, the Vote of Thanks was extended by Ms. Anagha Sajan, to express the gratefulness of the students towards the Department for organizing such programs for their benefit.

Social Action Initiative - Anbu Urai
Date: 25 November 2024
A student-led social action project was initiated under the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, with the hope of uplifting 45 marginalized families in Frazer Town Slum Community. The initiative catered to understand the needs and requirements of the community and to identify and priorities their needs accordingly.
The families within the community are engaged in menial jobs such as housekeeping, security and daily wage laborers. They work hard to make a livelihood. Most of them are unemployed and many have left the community due to metro construction. The objective was to understand the needs and requirements of the community, to identify and address a particular needs within the community, to provide the winter essentials like blankets, sweater and jamkhanas for the community people and, to bring positive change within the community. The session involved practical activities, providing winter essentials to the Migrant Community.
The session was conducted between 5:30pm to 6:00pm on 25th November 2024 by the 2nd year MSW students. The program started with a silent prayer followed by a welcome address by Students Coordinator Ms. Angelin Baby Games and introduction to the Community by Ms. Kalpana, followed by Formal Address by Head Department of Social Work .The Program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Baby Rosangzuali. An older women of the community showered the students with blessings out of gratitude. The session soon began with the student coordinator, distributing the tailor-made items to the community members’ according to the list we had made. The coordinators then distributed the snacks and juice that they had brought along to treat the committee members. The programme ended with the community members, student, coordinators, and faculty members, taking a group picture to remember and commemorate the day.

Action Research Project - MANNA VRIKSHA

The objective of this project was to provide immediate relief and support to 36 families of the Jappudi community in K. Narayanapura, Bengaluru, by addressing their basic needs. The initiative aimed to ensure food security and improve the quality of life for these vulnerable families by supplying essential food grains and daily necessities. This effort was designed to mitigate the challenges of economic hardship faced by the community, promote social well being, and foster a sense of solidarity and empowerment. The project underscores our commitment to social responsibility and highlights the importance of community driven actions in supporting marginalized populations.
This project was made possible with the guidance and support of the Department of Social Work, particularly our Head of Department, Dr. Jonas Richard, and our Coordinator, Winnie Joyce Ma’am, whose valuable inputs were instrumental in ensuring the success of this initiative.
The primary focus of our Initiative was to provide these families with essential food grains and daily use products to address their immediate needs. While temporary in nature, this intervention aimed to offer relief from their pressing challenges, fostering hope and stability during difficult times. By engaging directly with the community, we also aimed to understand their struggles more deeply and create a model for similar projects in the future.

Action Research Initiatives on Light and Love
Date: 23 November 2024
The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, organized an Action Research Initiative titled Project Light & Love on 23rd November 2024. This project aimed to address the needs of the nomadic donkey-breeder community, emphasizing the importance of small but meaningful acts of kindness and compassion. The objective of the project is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by migrant families and encourage the community to contribute towards supporting them. To distribute solar lamps to migrant families to ensure they have a reliable and sustainable source of light, improving their safety and daily living conditions. To supply winter essentials, such as blankets to help migrant families stay warm and protected during the colder months.
The initiative involved providing solar lamps and blankets to support the vulnerable group, improving their quality of life and fostering a sense of community care. The program was held at Jakkur Cricket Ground, KV Jairam Road, Bengaluru, from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The event aligns with the department's commitment to promoting social welfare and empowering marginalized communities through sustainable interventions.

Action Research Project Project Annadaana
Date: 19 November 2024
Project “Annadaana” organized by Students of Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College aimed to address the urgent needs of 45 families from the Bellahalli Bande community. The objective of Project Annadaana was to address critical issues of food insecurity and menstrual hygiene management within the Bellahalli Bande community. This community, primarily engaged in drum-making, faces significant socio-economic challenges, including food insecurity and inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products. The project was designed to provide these families with dry rations and sanitary napkins, two essential items that could alleviate immediate hardships.
The distribution process was meticulously planned and executed. The team coordinated with local volunteers who assisted with transporting goods and ensuring smooth distribution at the venue. The distribution was conducted in phases, beginning with the registration of families and followed by the careful allocation of goods. To ensure equity, the team adhered to a pre-established list of beneficiaries, which was communicated in advance to avoid confusion. Throughout the event, the students maintained close communication with the community to address any concerns and provide clarification. Beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude for the timely assistance, especially for the sanitary napkins, which many women in the community had struggled to afford. The feedback received from the beneficiaries confirmed that the project not only provided material relief but also created a sense of solidarity and hope within the community.

An Awareness Programme on World Alzheimer’s Day
Date: 23 September 2024
The objective of this activity was to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease to the student population, in order to combat the misconceptions and stigma associated with Alzheimer’s, addressing the challenges faced by the patients and their caregivers and the importance of social support in the lives of these Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, commemorated World Alzheimer’s Day on 23rd September, 2024 with an engaging and educational event to raise awareness among the youths on symptoms and prevention of Alzheimer’s with support of family and community. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Gopakumar A V, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, and Dr. Jonas Richard A. Head, Department of Social Work.
The programme featured a series of impactful activities, including poster presentation, and a role play, designed to inform and inspire the student community about this critical health issue.World Alzheimer’s Day is globally recognized on September 21st focusing on the importance of early diagnosis, research, and care for Alzheimer’s patients. This year, the department aimed to create a platform where students, faculty and the local community could learn more about Alzheimer’s disease, its symptoms, and how to support those affected.
The event began with an informative poster presentation, where students showcased their creativity and knowledge through a series of visually appealing posters. The posters covered a wide range of topics related to Alzheimer’s, including early signs and symptoms, treatment options, and the role of caregivers. This activity fostered an engaging environment, where visitors could as questions and interact with the presenters, deepening their understanding of the disease.
Following the poster presentation, the students performed a powerful role play that depicted the emotional and psychological impact of Alzheimer’s disease on patients and their families. The performance was both moving and educational, illustrating the importance of empathy, patience and proper care for those suffering from the disease

Yuva Avishkar- a ‘Lab on Wheels’ Initiative

The Jayantian Extension Services of the Kristu Jayanti College, in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, organized ‘Lab on Wheels’ initiative, an event organized for the 1st year students of the Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, on the 10th of September, 2024. The launch of the program was graced by presence of the Principal Fr Dr Augustine George who gave his address on the same, emphasizing the aim of the initiative so as to pool resources from departments to disseminate knowledge. He also added that, the initiative would enable students to excel in diverse fields while also making them responsible citizens contributing the development of the nation.
The Chief Head of CSR at L&T Technology Services Limited, Mr. KN Prabhakaran, highlighted the importance of linking knowledge and skills with the right societal attitude.
The initiative provided a platform for the students to experiences hands-on excercises, experiments and projects that enhance creative thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and talent development.
The students’ models focused on scientific principles and robotics, covering seven key aspects of holistic development: sustainability, economic growth, health, wellness, ethics, values, environment and energy.

Programme on World Suicide Prevention Day

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) commemorated World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th of September 2024. The theme of the programme was theme of the programme was “Change the Narratives and Start the Conversation”. The programme was planned and conducted by I MSW students and Faculty members of the Department. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head Department of Social Work and welcomed all the participants and audiences with his enlighten words. The students have developed the concepts and enacted it through play to prevent the suicide incidences arising in our society. The students of I MSW enacted through stories and delivered a massage to the society that a supportive environment and understanding relationship can prevent the suicide incidences. The topics like Failure in studies, love relationship, stress of occupation and peers influence towards social media and internet, over expectations of the parents are few reasons for suicide presented through stories and also provide prevention strategies and techniques to prevent suicide incidences among youths. After all performances Dr Jonas Richard A, Head Department of Social Work has given the concluding remarks and praised all students for their mindfulness and insight thoughts towards prevention of Suicide through start the conversation approach. The programme was a successful one and would help the social work students to utilize the knowledge and approaches in providing community services.

International Day of Peace 2024 Peace Education Campaign Cultivating a Culture of Peace

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, commemorated the ‘International Peace Day’ on the 23rd of September 2024 with an engaging and educational event to raise awareness among the youths on the significance of peace for resolving conflicts from the grass root to the international levels. The program was inaugurated by Fr. Joshy, the Head of the Department of English and Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head of the Department of Social Work.
The program featured a series of impactful activities, including a group dance on the iconic song ‘Heal the World by Michael Jackson’ and poster presentation, all designed to inform and inspire the student community about the significant virtue.
International Day of Peace is observed annually on September 21. Established by the United Nations in 1981, the day is dedicated to promoting peace and non-violence worldwide. It encourages individuals, communities, and nations to work toward ending conflicts, fostering harmony, and building a more just, peaceful world. The day serves as a reminder that peace is not just the absence of war but also the presence of justice, tolerance, and mutual understanding.
All the presentations and displays on peace education were thought provoking, insightful, and paved the way for the realization of peace as a virtue in everyday life, solving conflicts and developing character.

Presentation of Dissertation Proposals for II MSW Students

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) conducted a presentation on Dissertation Proposals for II MSW students on 5th of September 2024.The presentation was planned and executed by the faculties of Social Work. The objective of the presentation was to provide guidance and supervision to the students to prepare and present their dissertation topics. The department also made necessary arrangements for the presentation. The presentation was started with seeking the blessing of the Almighty followed by the introduction and orientation address by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head Department of Social Work. Soon after the introduction the students have presented their topics and objectives with a power point presentation before all faculties of Department. During the presentation the faculties have given valuable inputs and suggestions to the students to formulate their dissertation topics as per the research design process.
The topic presented by the students have thoroughly analyzed and discussed by the faculties and being corrected. With all the supported efforts the presentations of dissertation proposals become an effective and successful one. The students would able to know the important aspects in formulation of the dissertation topics and its objectives. The outcome of the programme was to develop a good insight and understanding to formulate the research topic and objectives in social work Education.

Programme on International Youth Day

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) conducted a programme on the eve of International Youth Day for I MSW students on 12th of August 2024. The programme was well planned and executed by the department. The objective of the programme is to celebrate International Youth day and to acknowledge the importance of youth and their contribution in nation building. The programme was started with a blessing from the Almighty. Ms Monica, Student I MSW, welcomed all faculties of the Department. The prelude to the programme was given by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head Dept. of Social Work. Dr Jonas has raised few important concern for youth by showing and addressing the youths need and development. He also touched the points on Contribution of youths in national development and global development as well. Soon after the address, the I MSW students presented a programme, where they showcased their talents with dancing and singing. There was a group dance lead by Mr. Sunil, student representative from I MSW based on the health and maintenance of health through Jumba dance. He made all the students to dance and created a very conducive environment for all. The outcome of the programme would develop the positive attitudes among youths towards taking initiatives for sustainable development of the society.

Placement Orientation and Training Programme (POTP)
Date: 26 August 2024
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayantio College organizes a placement orientation and training programme in collaboration with Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR) on 26/08/2024 for II MSW students. The objective of the placement orientation and training programme was to equip students with essential career skills, including resume building, interview techniques, and professional communication to enhance their employability by offering insights into industry expectations and job market trends and ensure students to be well-prepared for successful placements and career advancement.
The speaker, Prof. Sen B Mathews, was introduced to the gathering by Dr. Jonas Richard. A, Head, Department of Social Work, after which the speaker began the session by introducing the placement system of the college to the students.
The speaker highlighted the importance of skill development, the basic preparations needed to be made for attending interviews and emphasized on polishing the various types of nonverbal communication like proxemics, haptics, appearance, etc.
The session was included demonstrations of facing panelists of interviewing teams and group discussions through which the students understood more about their strengths and weaknesses in content presentation and communication.
Prof. Sen encouraged the students to keep up a good spirit and positive mindset regarding placements and the nature of work and job roles offered through the placement cell as it would definitely lead them to great heights in life for career building.
The guidelines and instructions of the placement cell were presented to the students clearly and enquiries were welcomed regularly during the session. The session ended with a ‘Q and A’ session where the questions of the students were answered promptly by the speaker. The speaker provided many valuable insights from his life experiences which inspired the students deeply.
The session ended with the endnote given by Dr. Jonas Richard A. The vote of thanks was proposed by Indira Renjini Roy. Students from the MSW department at Kristu Jayanti College have positively received the placement orientation and training programme. They found the sessions highly informative, particularly appreciating the practical insights into resume crafting, interview strategies, and job market trends. The hands-on approach and expert guidance have significantly boosted their confidence and preparedness for the job search process.

Observation Visit to Fides

The Department of Social Work of Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore had organized an observation visit for the first semester students to Family Integral Development and Education Scheme (FIDES). The Students were accompanied by Faculty members of the Department of Social Work.
At the onset, the directress of FIDES, Sr. Sumi Joseph presented an introduction on FIDES which included the origin, the activities conducted and the various functions of FIDES.
FIDES functions as a subsidiary of Sacred Heart Salesian Sister’s Society. It is now a large and well known organization, but claims a very humble beginning in 1993 when Sr. Nancy Pereira FMA, the pioneer of social works in the province of the ‘Sacred heart of Jesus’, Bangalore, visited the Ulsoor slum. The poverty and misery she witnessed at the slum put her to work. The result was FIDES, whose focus is on the holistic development of families by educating women and children. During the presentation and the interaction session, Sr. Sumi mentioned about the various activities that FIDES is currently engaged in. The activities and programs are aimed at attending educational and economic development, holistic health care and developing capacities of women and children from socio and economically backward conditions. She further talked about the challenges the organization is facing and also the future plans of FIDES.
Later in the afternoon, the students were guided around the campus for a quick visit to the school, the computer center, the stitching unit and the dental care center among others. All these facilities are meant for students and families belonging to lower economic back ground. It was surprising to know that all these facilities are completely free of cost and is financed through donations from general public and benevolent organizations. The statistics shows that the members of FIDES are successful in turning Sr. Nancy Pereira’s dream into reality.
The orientation visit came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Manasa of I MSW. The students departed with fond memories and a comprehension about the organization thus making the visit worthwhile.

Observation Visit to Manna

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized an observation visit to MANNA – Developmental Disability Center (Bangalore) on 20th August 2024 for the first-year students of social work from 9.30 am to 1 pm. A total of 60 post graduate students of social work along with a faculty members participated in the visit.
‘Manna- Developmental Disability center’ is a place for children with special needs and their parents. Manna accepts, loves, nourishes and enables such special children to be proud and healthy citizens in the society.
Ms. Candida, the founder directress of Manna engaged in an extensive and insightful interactive session with the students. A social worker herself, and a mother of two children who were diagnosed with Autism, Ms. Candida spoke from her personal experience on the need of sensitizing the society on developmental disability. The students were taken aback to realize that every 6th child in India is suffering from some form of disability and one in every sixty six children is autistic. She constantly emphasized on the importance of spreading awareness and encouraged the emerging social workers to be advocates of fighting discrimination, dismantle barriers to inclusion, to end institutionalization of children with disability and also to support the families of such children. She further shared the vision of MANNA, which is of a society in which children with special needs equally enjoy childhood happiness and live full rewarding lives without any discrimination.
After the interaction, the students had the chance to meet some children with special needs and visited some of the class rooms. Ms Candida organized an activity and a role play for the MSW students to make them aware of how a child with developmental disability feels and how difficult it is for that child to comprehend and communicate in a situation which usually would be seen as a ‘normal’ situation for others. This activity was an eye opener.
The observation visit to MANNA was a rather emotional one. The students learned a lot and were enlightened on the necessity of Social Workers in the area of Developmental disability.

Observation Visit to Visthar

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru organized an observation visit to VISTHAR, Academy of justice and peace conference and retreat center (Bangalore) on 20th August 2024 for the first-year students of social work from 10 am to 1 pm. A total of 60 post graduate students of social work along with a faculty members participated in the visit.
The first-year trainees started the session with a prayer song. Dr. Jonas Richard, Head of the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) gave a briefing about the organization and introduced Ms. Savithri, Programme Manager of the organization and the facilitator of the session. Ms. Savithri started the session by giving a brief understanding of VISTHAR, later she requested the trainees to observe a beautifully presented display with intricate handmade dolls. The dolls in the display portrayed current social issues like alcoholism, bonded labour, sexual abuse, suicide attempts among women, and so on. Ms. Savithri later went ahead to talk about VISTHAR and how it started in the year 1989 to give support to other NGOs and being indulged more deeply at the community level. She spoke about how as a secular Civil Society Organization it is committed to social justice and peace. Towards the end, a short-while was spent discussing and answering the multiple queries about the organization being presented to the facilitators by the trainee. And to officially end the session, a pleasant vote of thanks was delivered by a student representative and followed by the handing of a hand-made Thank You card to the Ms. Savithri by the faculty members and trainee.

Life Skill Training for Social Work Professionals
Date: 14 to 19 August 2024
Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) conducted life skill training for first year MSW students from 14th -19th August 2024. The trimming of the training programme is 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. The programme was planned and executed by the faculties of Social Work. The objective of the training programme is to impart knowledge and understanding on life skills such as Empathy, Self-Awareness, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision making, Interpersonal Relationship, Creative thinking, Communication, Coping with Stress. The session was started with a welcome address and Introduction to life skills by Dr.Jonas Richard A, Head of the Department and Director of Centre for Life Skills followed by all the faculties of the department took all 10 sessions of life skills. The social work Professionals developed insight and a deep understanding of all life skills. All the sessions were equipped with activities and games. The life skills training wad ended up with a gratitude and thanks giving to all the resource persons and participants. All the participants expressed their thanks and gratitude to Dept. of Social work and Resource persons as well. They also shared their experiences and raised questions related to life skills and its application in day to day life of the human being. It developed the capabilities and abilities of the social work professionals to deal and render professional service to the society. All the doubts on Life Skills were addressed and cleared with proper information and data. The outcome of the programme was to develop a good insight and understanding on use of life skills in the fields of Social Work. The Life Skills Training programme was a successful one.

Value Added Course (VAC) on Holistic Wellness
Date: 08 to 13 August 2024
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College organized Value Added Course (VAC) on Holistic Wellness aimed to introduce first-year MSW students to the concept of holistic wellness. The course aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of wellness, covering various dimensions including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The sessions were designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to promote wellness in individual and community settings. The first session, led by Dr. Jonas Richard A, introduced the students to holistic wellness. This was followed by a session on the Definition & Dimensions of Wellness by Dr. Winnie Joyce A, which provided a detailed understanding of the various aspects of wellness. The topics such as Historical Evolution of Wellness, Holistic wellness Models, and current trends and research in Holistic Wellness are covered in first day of VAC.The second day the topics such as Basics of Nutrition, importance of balanced diet, sleep hygiene and stress management, Preventing health care and screening, Self-care strategies for professionals, Mindfulness and meditation practices, mental health and wellness were covered by the faculties of Social Work Department. The third day of the course was dedicated to wellness's emotional and social aspects. The sessions on emotional intelligence, building emotional resilience and coping strategies, Diversity equity and inclusion in wellness initiatives and the role of community development and social capital in promotion of community wellness. Specific wellness programmes for specific populations such as elderly, youth marginalized have been covered in this day.
The final day of the course covered wellness's environmental and spiritual dimensions. The topics on impact on the environment on health and well-being, and sustainability practices and environment responsibility were added to the day. The course also included a session on Integrative and Complementary Therapies: Yoga, Reiki, and Acupuncture, where students learned about alternative therapies for enhancing wellness. The final session, Role of Social Workers in Promoting Wellness emphasized the critical role of social workers in advocating and promoting holistic wellness within communities. The course successfully equipped them with knowledge and strategies to promote wellness personally and within their communities
The knowledge and understanding of the students on Holistic Wellness was assessed through providing them a written examination. The same has been evaluated by the teachers and result of the VAC was intimated to students.

Orientation on Dissertation
Date: 08 August 2024
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College organized an orientation session on Dissertation on 08/08/2024. The objective of the session is to make the students have a better understanding of dissertation to carry out their research in a better way possible. All the final year students pursuing Master degree are expected to undertake research in any of their interested fields. As a part of MSW curriculum, the students will begin their process of research in the 3rd semester. Hence, The Department of Social Work organized an orientation session on “Dissertation” to give a brief idea about research.
Dr. Satish Kumar started the session, welcoming the Head of the Department, faculty members and the students. The session started with a brief introduction about research and basic rules to be followed while carrying out the research. Sir explained the steps that are to be followed while carrying out the research. The session focused on the topics - Review of Literature, Methodology and the outcomes. These were the major topics that are dealt in detail. The session was exclusively arranged to provide the students, the clarity about presenting a research proposal. The session ended with question-and-answer segment. The students of 2nd year MSW was highly benefitted through the session. The students gave positive feedback about the session.

Orientation on Academic Expectations & Success Strategies

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) organized an orientation programme for I year MSW students on 7th August 2024. The programme was planned and executed by the faculties of Social Work. The objective of the programme was to provide primary information on academic expectations and success strategies for newly joined students. The session was started with a welcome address and Introduction to orientation session on academic expectations and success strategies by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Head Department of Social Work. Total 60 students attended the session. Dr. Winnie Joyce A, programme Coordinator, Department of Social Work presented the department rules, code and conducts related to students. She also talked on pattern of field Work and classes of the department.
Dr Jonas Richard A, Head, dept. of Social Work conducted an introduction session for the new students, where all students introduced themselves to each other and finally thanks giving was done by Dr. Sathish Kumar R, Faculty Department of Social Work. The orientation session on Academic Expectations and Success Strategies was a successful one.

Value Added Course on Public Health Administration

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College conducted a Value Added Course on Public Health Administration for II MSW students from 25th to 29th July 2024. The programme was planned and executed by the faculties of Social Work. The objective of the programme was to provide practical experiences and insights to the students on importance of public Health and it’s Administration. The topic VAC like Scope and Need of Public Health Administration, History of Public Health Administration, Dimensions of Public Health, Human Resource and research in Public health Administration, Public health nutrition, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioural influence on Health, Health Management, Hospital Management, Role of Public Health Administration, Public Health Services for Women and Child, Health Education and Promotion, Role of Communication and Mass Media in Promotion of Public Health etc. topic were covered during VAC. Dr. Jonas Richard A, Dr. Winnie Joyce A, Dr. Sathish Kumar R, Dr. Bijaya Laxmi Sahoo and Mr. Abin Mathew were the resource persons to the Value Added Course. The outcome of the programme is to develop a good insight and understanding on Public Health and its Administration uses for better future. The students understanding and knowledge was assessed through an examination on the completion of the Value Added Course. The Value Added Course was a successful one.

Sessions on Revisiting Global Standards of Social Work Education

Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) conducted a session on Revisiting Global Standards of Social Work Education on 24th July, 2024 for II MSW. The programme was conducted on the occasion of Subha Aarambh for Post-Graduate II year Students. The programme was planned and executed by the faculties of Social Work. The session was started with a welcome address and Introduction to Revisiting Global Standards of Social work Education by Dr. Bijayalaxmi Sahoo Faculty Dept. of Social Work, followed by Dr Jonas Richards Welcome address to the II MSW students on the reporting for the new Academic Session 2024-25. Dr. Winnie Joyce A, Faculty Department of Social work took the session forward on code and conduct orientation on Department and also made presentation on current academic year goal, objectives and actions. The objective of the session was to provide basic information on objectives and targets for the students and the list of activities which is set by the department for achieving the full potentiality of the students. Dr Jonas Richard A, Head Dept. of Social Work talked about World Economic Forum 10 Skills, out of which the skills prepared for Capacity Development. The students oriented on their roles and responsibility of each one in achieving the goals of the Department. The outcome of the programme was to develop a good insight and understanding on roles and responsibility of the students in acquiring new skills and global standards of the social work education. The session was ended up with a gratitude and vote of thanks. The session on Revisiting Global Standards of Social Work Education is a successful one.
