The objective of the Vichaarmanthan is to introduce the students to the various aspects of leadership through interaction with Leaders. The purpose is to reach out to global leaders and inspire the students through eminent talks and discussions.

The 37th Edition of Vichaarmanthan - An Interaction with Global & Indian Visionaries organized on 26th July 2018 at Kristu Jayanti College, for the MBA, MCA, BCA and PGDM students had Shri. Rajeev Chawla IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, e-Governance, Govt. of Karnataka interacting with the students. Prof. Aruna Devi, Faculty member & coordinator of the session, greeted the gathering in her welcome address. Fr. Josekutty PD, Principal, Dr. Aloysius Edward, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Dr. Calistus Jude, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Dr. Kumar R, Head, Department of Computer Science (PG) were present.

Shri. Rajeev Chawla initiated his speech with the inspiring words – “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”. He commented that Karnataka has been in the forefront of Digital revolution with Bhoomi project involving computerization of Land records in 2005. He also said Karnataka continues to lead in implementation of Digital technologies by successful implementation of e-Governance applications for Commercial Taxes, Urban Citizen Service Centers – Bangalore One & Karnataka One and Khajane for treasury automation. He narrated the growth of e-Governance in Karnataka with the list of projects includes Commercial Taxes, Khajane & Khajane II, E-Procurement, HRMS, Bhoomi – Land Records, Kaveri - Registration of documents and computerization of registration process, Bangalore One etc. He threw light on the project Bhoomi as it provides transparency in land records management with better citizen services and takes discretion away from civil servants at operating levels. He explained how all these process happened before digitization and the impact of digitization in governance. With the great improvement in e-Governance services the government is able to process all the transactions like salary payment, tracking the BMTC bus, FIR status, Land ownership etc., quickly and effectively. He also advised the participants to use the services provided by the Government like Digilocker and Mobile One. He strongly insisted that e-Governance greatly improved the reachability of all the government services to the public with least corruption rate.

While answering to the participants’ queries Shri. Rajeev Chawla the e-Governance initiatives taken by the Government are utilized by all the category of the people as it is part of the system. He also explained how challenged and special need people can use the exception handling mechanisms for the finger print recognition systems. He assured that the Data centers which has the pool of all the people and the transaction data is highly secured and only authorized personnel can access. The participants get the rich experience of the essential digitization services provided by the Government and also got satisfied by the high security measures for the citizen’s data. The 37th edition of Vichaarmanthan gave a precious moment for the participants to meet, listen and interact with an IAS officer and distinguished alumnus of IIT Kanpur to the participants. The participants learnt various e-Governance services and its opportunities all the classes of people.
