Certificate Course on Airport Terminal Operations Executive

The School of Business and Management at Kristu Jayanti University, through the Department of Professional Management Studies and the Commerce & Management Skill Studio, is organizing a Certificate Course on Airport Terminal Operations Executive in association with the Aerospace & Aviation Sector Skill Council. Aligned with NSQF standards, this program is designed for BBA Aviation Management II and IV semester students to gain industry-relevant knowledge and practical insights into airport operations.
The course will be led by Rupali Dhule-Modak, Master Trainer at AASSC and Managing Director of The Skylink Academy, who brings extensive experience from the aviation industry, including her tenure with Qatar Airways. Scheduled from 24th March to 1st April 2026, the sessions will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Conclave Hall, Admin Block, providing students with a structured and immersive learning experience.

Workshop on Aviation and Airlines Operating System

The Department of Professional Management Studies organised an insightful workshop on 23rd March 2026 addressing the theme “Aviation and Airlines Operating System” led by an expert speaker Mr. Abhishek Avala, Senior Product Training Specialist Sabre, Bengaluru. The session provided students with a comprehensive introduction to the technical and operational frameworks that power the global travel industry. The primary focus was on Global Distribution Systems (GDS), specifically examining the functions and market roles of major platforms such as Sabre and Galileo. Students explored how these systems act as the central nervous system for travel rotations, connecting service providers with travel agents and consumers in real-time.
Beyond the software architecture, the workshop delved into the practicalities of airline inventory and passenger management. Mr. Avala detailed the nuances of different flight classes, explaining how airlines categorize seating and service levels to optimize revenue. A significant portion of the technical training was dedicated to the booking process, where students learned the intricate steps involved in generating a Passenger Name Record (PNR). By understanding how to draft a PNR and manage booking data, participants gained hands-on perspective into the essential documentation required for every air traveller.
The workshop served as a vital bridge between academic theory and industry practice. By demystifying the complexities of GDS platforms and the fundamental mechanics of flight reservations, Mr. Abhishek Avala equipped the students with foundational knowledge essential for a career in aviation management. This session not only enhanced their technical literacy regarding airline operating systems but also underscored the precision and coordination required to maintain seamless global travel operations.

Beyond Travel: Build a Career in Tourism

The Department of Professional Management Studies, School of Business and Management, organised an expert talk on “Beyond Travel: Build a Career in Tourism” was organized to provide students with comprehensive insights into the dynamic and evolving tourism industry. The event was held on 20th March, 2026 at M3 Auditorium. The resource person for the expert talk was Ms. Hannah Angeline Sherin, Assistant Manager, Fieldtrips Bengaluru. The expert talk was organized for fourth and sixth Semester BBA THM students.
The resource person elaborated on the tourism ecosystem, explaining how various stakeholders such as travel agencies, airlines, hospitality providers, tourism boards, and digital platforms are interconnected. The session also introduced participants to the real workflow of the tourism industry, offering practical exposure to how operations are managed in real-world scenarios.
A major highlight of the talk was the discussion on career opportunities in tourism, where students were introduced to diverse roles across sectors. Special emphasis was given to top entry-level positions, helping learners understand how to begin their careers in the industry.
The session further explored the importance of digital marketing in tourism, emphasizing how online platforms, social media, and content strategies are shaping modern travel businesses. Additionally, the expert discussed various professional certifications, including IATA courses, GDS certifications, and digital marketing certifications, which enhance employability and industry readiness.
The session provided valuable guidance on career pathways, skill development, and industry expectations, enabling students to make informed decisions about their future in tourism.

Expert Talk on “Beyond the Ticket: The Art of Ancillary Revenue & Partnership Contracts”

The Department of Professional Management Studies, School of Business and Management, in association with the National Aviation Research Forum (NARF), successfully organised an enriching Industry–Institute Interaction on 26th February 2026 for the II Year BBA Aviation Management students. The session, themed “Beyond the Ticket: The Art of Ancillary Revenue & Partnership Contracts,” aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the evolving revenue models and strategic collaborations within the aviation industry. The event featured distinguished industry experts, Mr. Rohit Singh Deo, Vice President of Quality Control & Assurance, Globe Ground India, and Ms. Kiran Prasad, Head of Commercial, Bird Aviation, Bangalore International Airport.
The speakers delivered insightful perspectives on how airlines and aviation stakeholders generate revenue beyond ticket sales through innovative ancillary services such as baggage fees, seat selection, onboard sales, and value-added partnerships. They also highlighted the importance of well-structured partnership contracts in driving sustainable growth and enhancing customer experience. The interaction effectively bridged the gap between academic concepts and real-world aviation practices. Students gained valuable exposure to current industry trends, commercial strategies, and the dynamic nature of airline operations. The session was highly interactive, encouraging students to engage with the speakers and gain clarity on career opportunities and industry expectations. Certificate Course on Cabin Crew Management

The Department of Professional Management Studies under the School of Business and Management successfully organized a Certificate Course on Cabin Crew Management exclusively for Undergraduate (UG) students. The course was conducted from 27th January 2026 to 20th February 2026 in online mode. The aviation industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors globally, offering dynamic and rewarding career opportunities. The Certificate Course in Cabin Crew Management was designed to provide students with fundamental knowledge and practical insights into cabin operations, passenger service excellence, safety procedures, grooming standards, and communication skills essential for aviation professionals.
The programme aimed at enhancing employability by equipping students with industry-relevant competencies required to pursue careers as cabin crew and other airline service roles.

Workshop on Importance of AASSC's Skill-Based Job Roles and Credit-Based Certification

The Department of Professional Management Studies, School of Business and Management, in association with the Aerospace & Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC), successfully organised a workshop on “Importance of AASSC's Skill-Based Job Roles and Credit-Based Certification for the students of BBA Aviation Management on 21st February 2026.
A total of 212 students from II and IV semester, BBA Aviation Management comprising of A and B section actively participated in the session. The workshop aimed to enlighten students about the significance of industry-relevant, skill-based job roles and the value of credit-based certifications in the aviation sector.We were privileged to have an esteemed panel of experts to address the students Mr. Sangharakshaka V P,s Chief Executive Officer (Offg.), AASSC Ms. Suparna Kapoor, Ex. Strategic HR Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mr. G Srinivas Prasad, Manager Training(GH BLR), Air India SATS, Mr. Abhishek Jha, Business Development Executive, AASSC.
The speakers shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the aviation industry, emphasizing the need for specialized skills and how AASSC certifications can provide a competitive edge to students in their careers. Their experience and knowledge offered students a clear perspective on bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.The interactive session provided students with a great opportunity to understand the framework of skill development and its practical application in the aerospace and aviation sectors.

Industrial Visit to Air Traffic Control (ATC), Bengaluru

The Department of Professional Management Studies under the School of Business and Management, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) organized an Industrial Visit to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) unit of the Airports Authority of India in Bengaluru on 18th February 2026 for the BBA Aviation Management students.
A total of 30 students, accompanied by Dr. Eshan M. R., Faculty – Aviation Management, participated in the visit. The industrial exposure was thoughtfully planned to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of real-time air traffic operations and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and live aviation practices.
The primary objective of the visit was to offer experiential learning on the functioning of Air Traffic Services and to familiarize students with the operational framework that ensures safe and efficient aircraft movement. During the session, ATC officials provided a detailed explanation of airspace structure, aircraft separation standards, communication procedures, and radar surveillance systems. Students were introduced to the coordination mechanisms between pilots and controllers, highlighting how precision, situational awareness, and timely decision-making are critical in maintaining aviation safety.

Culinary Fiesta

The Department of Professional Management Studies successfully hosted the Culinary Fiesta on January 28, 2026, to commemorate National Tourism Day, observed on 25th January. The event was designed as a vibrant tribute to India’s pluralistic heritage, focusing on the diverse cultures, regional cuisines, and traditional attires of various states. The fiesta saw enthusiastic participation from over 65 students across all semesters, organized into 13 distinct teams. Each group represented a specific Indian state of their choice, meticulously preparing a menu of six indigenous, home-cooked dishes. To provide an immersive cultural experience, participants donned traditional regional attire while managing their stalls. This hands-on initiative allowed students to apply practical management skills in a real-world setting, bridging the gap between cultural appreciation and entrepreneurial execution. The event witnessed a high volume of footfall and concluded on a high note of commercial success. All participating teams reported significant profits, with food items completely selling out well before the scheduled closing time. The Culinary Fiesta not only fulfilled its objective of celebrating India’s geographic diversity but also served as a testament to the students’ culinary talents and business acumen, marking a distinguished milestone for the Department of Professional Management Studies.

Skyscape

The Avia-Tour Club of the Department of Professional Management Studies hosted Skyscape, the premier intra-departmental management fest, on January 9, 2026. The fest was designed specifically for BBA Aviation and Tourism Management students. This three-day event served as a professional training ground for the industry’s future leaders. With over 75 enthusiastic participants, the fest celebrated the successful integration of academic theory with the high-stakes demands of the global aviation sector. The heart of Skyscape lies in its structure: four specialized events conducted simultaneously over the past two days. These competitions were meticulously designed to simulate the fast-paced, high-pressure environments of international airports, airlines, and tourism operations. Each event tested participants on critical competencies such as strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, teamwork, communication, and crisis management skills that are indispensable in the aviation and travel industry.
Through real-time problem-solving scenarios and competitive challenges, students were encouraged to apply classroom knowledge to practical situations, fostering analytical thinking and professional confidence. Skyscape not only provided a platform for healthy competition but also nurtured leadership, adaptability, and industry readiness, reinforcing the department’s commitment to experiential learning and holistic student development.

ASCEND 2025 - Aviation and Tourism Conclave

The Department of Professional Management Studies successfully organized ASCEND 2025 – Aviation and Tourism Conclave, addressing to the theme “Navigating the Pathways of Tourism Hospitality and Aviation: Unlocking scopes and Opportunities “. This interactive platform designed to bridge academic learning with industry expertise in the fields of aviation, tourism and hospitality organized on 30th September 2025 to commemorate World Tourism Day 2025. The conclave witnessed enthusiastic participation, benefitting a total of 250 participants, including aviation management & tourism and hospitality management students. The conclave was inaugurated by Dr. Ananda C. M., Program Director – Civil Aircrafts, Professor at ACSIR, Chief Scientist and Head of Aerospace Electronics & System Division, National Aerospace Laboratory. As the Chief Guest, Dr. Ananda addressed the gathering with an inspiring keynote on emerging technologies in civil aviation and the pivotal role of aerospace research in advancing global connectivity. His thought-provoking insights set a strong foundation for the sessions that followed.
Session I
The first session was led by Mr. Upendra Jena, General Manager, Essotto Recreation Hub, Whitefield, Bengaluru. He provided participants with valuable perspectives on hospitality and recreation management, highlighting operational strategies, guest engagement, and the growing demand for experiential leisure services in modern tourism.
Session II
The second session featured Ms. Bindu Sanyasi, Assistant General Manager – Human Resources and Head of Learning & Development Division, Bengaluru International Airport. She delivered an engaging talk on the significance of human resources in aviation, covering employee training, leadership development, and workforce excellence. Her address encouraged participants to explore dynamic HR opportunities within the aviation and tourism industries.
Session III
The final session was conducted by Ms. Prerana Shankar, a Cabin Crew Member at Virgin Atlantic, United Kingdom. Sharing her personal journey, she shed light on the professional life of cabin crew, global service standards, and the skill sets required to excel in international aviation. Her interactive session inspired many aspirants to pursue careers in passenger service and in-flight hospitality.
ASCEND 2025 – Aviation and Tourism Conclave successfully created a platform for knowledge-sharing between academia and industry. The event enriched participants with diverse perspectives ranging from aerospace innovations to hospitality management, HR development, and cabin crew experiences. The conclave not only broadened professional awareness but also motivated students to aspire for global opportunities in aviation, tourism and hospitality industry.

Expert Talk on Entrepreneurial Prospects and Job Opportunities in the Tourism Sector

The Department of Professional Management Studies, organized an Expert Talk on “Entrepreneurial Prospects and Job Opportunities in the Tourism Sector” on 2nd September 2025 at the A3 Auditorium.
The event featured Mr. Abhighna Chennakeshavmurthy, Managing Director of Hopscotch Corporate MICE and Leisure Travel Solutions Pvt. Ltd., as the distinguished resource person. With over 12 years of experience in the tourism industry, Mr. Abhighna brought valuable insights into the functioning of the sector and the scope it offers for aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals.
The session began with a warm welcome and formal introduction of the speaker by the student coordinator. Mr. Abhighna highlighted various domains of the tourism sector such as ticketing, holiday package designing, visa processing, cruise travel, destination weddings, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions). He emphasized how Hopscotch functions as a one-stop travel solution and shared his journey of building a successful business in this domain.
He encouraged students to view the initial 5 to 10 years of their career as a learning phase by stressing on the importance of client handling, communication, trust, and product knowledge. The talk also underlined the earning potential, especially in areas like ticketing and corporate travel, while also drawing attention to the scope of international exposure in tourism Industry.
The session concluded with an token of gratitude presented to the speaker by faculty member. The event was well-received by the students, offering practical guidance and inspiration to explore tourism industry as a serious career path.

Expert Talk on Role of Aviation Business in Airport Development

The Department of Professional Management Studies organized an insightful expert talk on 23rd August 2025 addressing to the theme “Role of Aviation Business in Airport Development” by an aviation expert Mr. Ajay Singh a senior executive from Bangalore International Airport Ltd.
The resource person presented a detailed study on aviation business from an airport’s perspective for second-year BBA Aviation and Tourism students. The session covered a wide range of knowledge concerning airport management including terminal, airside, administrative, and commercial operations. Mr. Singh also discussed the differences between airports and aerodromes, the various types of freight and air cargo services. The crucial role of passengers playing an important role in development of airport was discussed. Sustainability initiatives the across Indian airports were also highlighted. This thought-provoking session gave students valuable real-world exposure and undoubtedly enhanced their understanding of aviation as a business model.

Sky Chronicles - Video Presentation Competition

The Department of Professional Management Studies organized a Video Presentation Competition titled “Sky Chronicles” in observance of National Aviation Day. The event was exclusively conducted for the BBA Aviation Management and Tourism & Hospitality Management students with the objective of nurturing creativity, innovation, and critical thinking in aviation-related themes.
Held on 19th August 2025 at 12:40 pm in the A2 Auditorium, Administration Block, the programme brought together enthusiastic student participants who showcased their research, perspectives, and storytelling skills through well-curated video presentations. The themes revolved around the growth of aviation, operational excellence, passenger experience, and the future of the industry.
The competition not only provided a platform for students to exhibit their knowledge and communication skills but also encouraged collaborative learning and industry-oriented insights. Faculty members and peers appreciated the efforts of the participants, making the event a memorable and enriching experience.
