FIREWALL 2026 - National Cybersecurity Summit & Capture the Flag (CTF) Championship

The FIREWALL 2026 – National Cybersecurity Summit and Capture the Flag (CTF) Championship was organized by Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology (KJIT) in collaboration with Cynux Era and CompTIA. The event aimed to create awareness about cybersecurity and provide students with opportunities to understand emerging challenges and practical aspects of cyber defence. The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony featuring the Presidential Address by Fr. Anoop Kurian, Director, Extension Activities, and the Inaugural Address by Mr. Veerababu (Mr-IoT), Founder of IoTSRG, Bengaluru. Their addresses highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity and encouraged students to develop relevant technical skills in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The programme continued with a cybersecurity seminar, offering participants valuable insights into current industry practices and security challenges. This was followed by the Capture the Flag (CTF) Challenge, where participants engaged in practical problem-solving activities that encouraged them to apply their technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and cybersecurity skills.
The summit provided students with an informative and engaging learning experience, combining expert perspectives with hands-on challenges. FIREWALL 2026 successfully encouraged participants to think, hack, and protect while strengthening their interest and awareness in the field of cybersecurity.
Hands-On Session “Smart Literature Review: Organize, Cite & Manage Research Using Zotero”

A hands-on session on “Smart Literature Review: Organize, Cite & Manage Research Using Zotero” was conducted by Dr.Fizhan Kausar, Assistant Professor, Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology to familiarize students with effective techniques for conducting a structured literature review. The session covered the process of identifying relevant research papers, formulating research questions, and searching scholarly databases to collect quality literature. Students were introduced to important research databases and strategies for selecting and evaluating relevant research articles. The session also demonstrated how Zotero can be used to organize research papers, manage references, generate citations, and create bibliographies efficiently. The concept and methodology of conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) were also discussed, including literature screening, organization, and synthesis of findings. The practical session enabled students to develop essential skills for systematic and well-organized academic research.

Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology (KJIT) organized a Research Empowerment Series on “AI-Driven Medical Imaging: Anatomy-Guided Deep Learning for Automated Pleural Effusion Detection” on 22 August 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Conference Hall, Airport Road Campus. The session was delivered by Dr. R. Gayathri, Associate Professor as the Resource Person.
The session focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in medical imaging, particularly for the automated detection of pleural effusion from chest X-ray images. The resource person explained the research methodology involved in medical image analysis, including image preprocessing, feature extraction, model development, training, validation, and performance evaluation. The concept of anatomy-guided deep learning and its role in improving diagnostic accuracy and interpretability was also discussed. Key evaluation metrics such as accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and AUC were introduced. The session highlighted opportunities and challenges in developing reliable, ethical, and clinically useful AI-based healthcare solutions.
AI-Assisted Research Methodology: Opportunities, Challenges and Ethics

Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology (KJIT) organized a Tech Talk on “AI-Assisted Research Methodology: Opportunities, Challenges and Ethics” for the III Semester M.Sc. Computer Science and Data Science students on 21 August 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at B316, Airport Road Campus. The session was delivered by Dr. SubramaniaKumar M, Assistant Professor.
The Tech Talk focused on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in the research lifecycle and provided students with an overview of how AI can support researchers in improving efficiency while retaining human expertise and scholarly judgment. The session introduced the fundamentals of research and research methodology, including the research process from research problem identification, literature review, objectives and methodology to data collection, analysis, findings and conclusion.
The session explored the application of AI at various stages of research. Students learned how AI can assist in generating and refining research topics, identifying research problems, formulating research questions and objectives, conducting literature searches, reviewing research papers and identifying research gaps. The session also highlighted AI-assisted approaches for research design, hypothesis formulation, questionnaire development, data collection, data cleaning, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, academic writing and research visualization. Students were introduced to several AI and research-support tools, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Elicit, Semantic Scholar, Consensus, Connected Papers, Zotero, Mendeley, Grammarly, Python, R, Power BI and Tableau. The discussion also emphasized the importance of selecting research tools based on accuracy, reliability, privacy, cost and institutional policies.
Anti-Ragging Week - Awareness and Sensitisation Session

Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology (KJIT) organized an Anti-Ragging Week – Awareness and Sensitisation Session on 18 August 2026 at the A2 Auditorium, Airport Road Campus, with Mr. Raja Imam Kasim P, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime II), Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest and resource person. He sensitised students on the harmful effects of ragging and its serious legal consequences, highlighting the emotional, psychological and academic impact it can have on students. He encouraged students to respect one another, avoid peer pressure, support juniors and immediately report any incident of ragging or harassment. The DCP also created awareness about cyber security and responsible digital behavior, covering online scams, phishing, cyber fraud, unsafe social media practices, password protection and the importance of safeguarding personal information. He further spoke about the dangers of narcotic and drug use, explaining their adverse effects on physical and psychological well-being, education, family life and financial stability, along with the legal consequences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Dr. R. Kumar, Dean, KJIT, welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting a sapling as a symbol of sustainability and appreciation, while Dr. Muruganantham A, Head of the Department, honoured him with a memento. Dr. R. Velmurugan served as the Programme Coordinator, while Dr. Vimala Roselin J. and Dr. Satheesh served as the Event Coordinators, ensuring the smooth execution of the programme. The session was informative and engaging, and reaffirmed KJIT’s commitment to fostering a safe, responsible, cyber-aware, drug-free, respectful and ragging-free campus.
Pravartana 2026 - IEEE Bangalore Section Outreach Programme

The KRISTU JAYANTI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (KJIT), in association with the KJIT IEEE Student Branch, organized “Pravartana 2026 – IEEE Bangalore Section Outreach Programme” on 18 August 2026 at Sri Siddhartha Srinivasa High School, Kothanur, Bengaluru. The programme focused on Digital Literacy and AI Awareness, aiming to introduce students to emerging technologies and promote responsible digital usage. The programme was conducted from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and featured interactive sessions on Digital Literacy, Cyber Security, Generative AI, Canva, Creative Digital Tools, and AI in everyday life. Sessions were conducted by Meghana S, Akash S Nadas, Ravichandra YB, Chithrashree M, Drashitha Shetty, Sukanya S Mudhol, and Nehaa J and Pavan R.
Students actively participated in the sessions and explored concepts related to digital safety, artificial intelligence, creativity, and emerging technologies. The programme successfully encouraged students to learn, create, explore, and confidently engage with the evolving digital world.

The session was conducted by the Resource Person, Dr. Thomas Robinson L, Associate Professor, who guided students on converting research ideas and findings into quality publications in reputed journals and conferences. The session covered important aspects such as selecting suitable journals, manuscript preparation, research ethics, plagiarism prevention, and responding to reviewers. It also introduced students to identifying suitable research funding opportunities, preparing effective research proposals, developing budgets, and presenting the significance and expected outcomes of research projects. The programme provided valuable insights into strengthening research capabilities, improving academic publication skills, and exploring funding opportunities for innovative research projects.
Pitch Innovation - Idea Pitching Session

Data Science, and M.Sc. Cyber Security students on 12th August 2026 at the Airport Road Campus. The session was coordinated by Dr. Thomas Robinson L and Dr. Vimala Roselin J, providing students with an interactive platform to present and share their innovative ideas.
The session aimed at encouraging students to develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset by identifying real-world problems and proposing creative technology-based solutions. Students were encouraged to articulate their ideas clearly, explain the proposed solutions, and highlight their potential impact. The pitching activity also helped students develop confidence, effective presentation skills, originality, and problem-solving abilities.
The Pitch Innovation session provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and receive valuable feedback on their ideas. Multimedia Society Activity – “Prompt Craft & Tools Stack”

The Multimedia Society conducted an activity titled “Prompt Craft & Tools Stack”, led by Ms. E. Sahana, I M.Sc. Data Science. The session introduced students to the basics of prompt engineering and the effective use of AI tools for multimedia content creation.
Students learned how to frame clear and effective prompts and explored AI tools for generating text, images, presentations, and other multimedia content. The activity included practical demonstrations and prompt-refinement exercises, helping students understand how effective prompts can improve AI-generated outputs. The session enhanced students’ creativity, prompt-writing skills, and awareness of emerging AI technologies for multimedia applications.

The activity “Guess the Tech” was conducted on 12 August 2026 as an interactive and fun-based technical game for the students of the Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology. The main objective of the activity was to make learning technology concepts more engaging and enjoyable while encouraging active participation and interaction among students. During the activity, participants were given various technology-related terms and had to explain, describe, or act them out without directly revealing the term, while the other students observed the clues and guessed the correct answer. The activity created an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere, encouraging students to think quickly, communicate their ideas creatively, and work together. It also helped students improve their technical awareness, communication, observation, teamwork, creativity, presentation, and quick-thinking skills. By combining technical concepts with entertainment, the activity made learning more enjoyable and helped students recall technology-related terms in an interactive way. Overall, “Guess the Tech” was a successful and engaging activity that promoted learning beyond traditional classroom methods and demonstrated how activity-based learning can make technical education more engaging and effective.

The event was coordinated by Dr. R. Gayathri and Dr. Fizhan Kausar, Faculty Coordinators of the Neuronova – AIML Society. The event was organized with the objective of promoting awareness and interest in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning among students and encouraging them to explore emerging technologies and applications in the field.
The primary objective of the event was to provide students with an opportunity to understand the significance of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the current technological landscape. The session highlighted the growing applications of AI and ML across various domains and encouraged students to develop their technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
During the event, students were introduced to important concepts and recent developments in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The session also provided insights into the practical applications of AI-based technologies and their relevance to academic learning, research, projects, and future career opportunities.

The event was organized for the students of MCA, M.Sc, Data Science, and M.Sc, Cyber Security, with the objective of providing students with an engaging platform to apply their knowledge and skills in the field of data and technology.
The event was facilitated by Mr. Rohit Odiyar, III M.Sc. Data Science, who guided and coordinated the participants throughout the event. The Data Hunt was designed to encourage students to explore data-driven concepts through an interactive and challenging learning experience. It provided an opportunity for participants to apply their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technical knowledge in a practical setting.The event emphasized the importance of data interpretation, logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in the field of technology. The session was conducted by Ms. Jena Regina Issac, Student Counsellor, Kristu Jayanti University.
The primary objective of the session was to familiarize students with the counselling and wellness services available on campus and to promote their mental, emotional, and academic well-being. During the session, the resource person addressed common challenges faced by students, including stress management, anxiety, time management, interpersonal relationships, and career-related concerns.
Students were encouraged to openly express their concerns in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. The interactive nature of the session, along with the question-and-answer segment, enabled students to seek guidance on personal, academic, and career-related issues.
Resource Person also shared practical techniques such as positive thinking, goal setting, relaxation exercises, and effective time management strategies to help students improve their overall well-being. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and personal life and encouraged students to seek professional counselling whenever they experienced emotional or psychological difficulties.

NEXUS Launch of Placement Engine

Mr. Adithya Mishra, student developer of the Placement Engine personally explained the platform, its features, and its practical applications. The website provides placement-related questions, practice resources, guidance, and assistance, addressing the challenges of conducting extensive placement training through conventional manual methods. The platform enables students to practice independently and receive structured support, thereby making the training process more efficient and engaging.
Techn Ignite-“Societies Inguaration”

The initial sessions of the Universal Human Values (UHV) course focused on helping students understand themselves, their aspirations, and the importance of values in leading a meaningful life. The programme began with an interactive introduction session that encouraged students to know one another and build a positive learning environment. Students then explored their personal aspirations, concerns, and life goals through discussions and self-reflection activities. The sessions emphasized the fundamental human aspirations of continuous happiness and prosperity, highlighting that lasting fulfilment comes from harmony within oneself, healthy relationships, and responsible living rather than material success alone. The Department of Computer Science (PG), Kristu Jayanti University, organized Scientific Exploration 2026 on 23 February 2026 at the PG Block in commemoration of National Science Day.

The celebration featured three major competitions designed to blend creativity, technology, and analytical thinking: Quantum Arena – A team-based gaming challenge that tested strategy, coordination, and rapid decision-making skills.
Pixels, Prompts & Particles – An AI-based photography and image prompting competition encouraging participants to translate creative ideas into visually compelling AI-generated outputs.
Lab Lockdown – An escape-room style scientific challenge where teams solved logical puzzles and decoded clues within a stipulated time frame.

Session on Ctrl + She

The Department of Computer Science (PG), School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti University, in association with SynHera, the Women’s IT Society, organized a session titled “Ctrl + She” as part of a student engagement initiative. The session aimed to encourage active participation, critical thinking, and awareness of socially relevant issues. The activity was centred on the theme of Women Empowerment. Random participants were invited from the audience and asked to pick a topic related to the theme. Based on the selected topics, the participants were grouped accordingly and given time to discuss their ideas and viewpoints within their respective teams.
After the discussion phase, each group presented their key points and collective opinions before the audience. The participants confidently shared diverse perspectives, practical insights, and possible solutions to promote gender equality and empowerment. The activity provided a vibrant platform for open dialogue and constructive debate. It enhanced students’ communication skills, teamwork, and analytical thinking while fostering greater awareness about women empowerment. Kristu Jayanti Institute of Technology (KJIT), under Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru, successfully organized a technical session titled “The Art of Prompt Engineering” on 07/02/2026 at 12:00 pm at the SKE Auditorium, PG Block, 1st Floor.
The session was organized for the students of MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science, and Data Science. The program was facilitated by Mr. Vigneshwaran R (IV Semester MCA C) and Mr. Polimetla Sam Nissy (II Semester MCA A).
The session focused on introducing students to the fundamentals and practical importance of prompt engineering in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The facilitators explained how effective prompts can enhance the performance of large language models, discussed different prompting techniques, and demonstrated real-time examples. The session was interactive, encouraging active participation from students through discussions and queries.
The same number of students attended the session as in previous similar academic programs, and their participation reflected strong interest and enthusiasm. The event was informative and well received, helping students gain practical insights into emerging AI technologies.
