The Department of Economics is committed to academic excellence and advanced research in economics. The Department offers comprehensive programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, nurturing students with a strong foundation in microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, international financial institutions, and emerging areas such as sustainability and environmental economics, financial economics, health economics, gender economics, and infrastructure economics. Our curriculum emphasises applied and policy-oriented learning, supported by rigorous training in mathematical and statistical techniques and computer-based data analysis tools. Through the study of econometrics, students develop critical skills to evaluate statistically driven arguments in both public and private domains. The Department fosters a culture of multidisciplinary research, encouraging students and faculty to contribute meaningfully to evidence-based policy, inclusive growth, and sustainable development. Our graduates pursue rewarding careers in government organizations including the Indian Economic Service, Indian Civil Service, Reserve Bank of India, NITI Aayog, and various research institutions, as well as private sector roles such as Economic Advisors, Financial Analysts, Business Analysts, Consultants, and Researchers across NBFCs, multinational corporations, and business publications.
