Group Discussion on “The Role of Men in Achieving Gender Equality”

The Department of Economics, School of Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti University, organised a Group Discussion on “The Role of Men in Achieving Gender Equality” on 09 March 2026 for second and third year undergraduate students as part of the International Women’s Day celebration. The programme aimed to encourage critical reflection on the importance of shared responsibility in advancing gender equality within contemporary society. The discussion was moderated by Dr Libina Sebastian. A total of 45 students actively participated in the discussion, sharing their perspectives and contributing to a vibrant and constructive academic exchange. The session created a platform for students to deliberate on themes such as the role of men as allies in promoting gender equality, challenging patriarchal norms, and fostering respectful and inclusive practices in both social and professional environments. Students actively shared their perspectives, contributing to a vibrant and constructive academic exchange. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and meaningful dialogue among students. The session concluded successfully, reinforcing awareness about gender equality and emphasising the significance of collaborative efforts in building a more inclusive and equitable society.

Orientation for Household Survey

The Department of Economics, School of Commerce, Accounting and Finance organised an Orientation for Household Survey on 27 February 2026 at 2:40 PM in H502, Humanities Block, as part of its Extension Programme for IV Semester MSc Economics students. The session was handled by Mr. Manjunath S, Coordinator of Unnat Bharath Abhiyan and Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, who provided practical guidance on survey objectives, questionnaire design, ethical data collection, and field challenges. The programme aimed to equip students with methodological clarity and confidence for conducting household surveys, thereby strengthening their research skills and promoting experiential learning through field-based data collection. A total of 23 students benefited from the programme.

Role Play Presentation on World Day of Social Justice

The Department of Economics, School of Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru, organised a Role Play titled “Life Behind the App: A Gig Worker’s Story” on 20 February 2026 at Green Park as part of the World Day of Social Justice celebration. The programme was presented by II Semester B.Sc. Applied Economics students. The event was conducted to create awareness about the socio economic challenges faced by gig workers within the contemporary platform economy. The presentation highlighted critical issues such as labour rights, income insecurity, absence of formal contracts, lack of social protection mechanisms, and the structural vulnerabilities embedded in app based employment models.Through a structured dramatization, students depicted the lived realities of gig workers, drawing attention to concerns related to wage volatility, algorithmic management, occupational risks, and limited access to welfare benefits. The role play facilitated experiential learning by connecting theoretical discussions on labour economics and social justice with real world employment practices.The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, followed by an engaging discussion session on policy reforms, regulatory frameworks, and inclusive labour governance. The event concluded successfully, reinforcing awareness on social justice issues and strengthening students’ critical understanding of emerging labour market transformations.

Mock Aptitude Series - 3
Date: 17 February 2026
The Department of Economics at Kristu Jayanti University conducted Mock Aptitude Series–3 on 17 February 2026 for VI Semester BA Applied Economics and MSc Economics students as part of placement training for 2025–2026. The test simulated real campus recruitment conditions and was aligned with the TCS Atlas aptitude pattern. It assessed quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, logical reasoning, verbal ability, and problem-solving skills. The session helped students understand exam structure, sectional weightage, and time management, strengthening their confidence and readiness for campus placements.

Mock Quick Session- 2

The Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanti University, organised a placement-oriented Mock Aptitude Test on 27 January 2026 for students of IV Semester MSc Economics and VI Semester BA Applied Economics for the academic year 2025–2026. The test was conducted between 12:00 pm and 12:50 pm. Structured to reflect the format of campus recruitment aptitude rounds, the assessment covered quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, data interpretation, general knowledge, and current affairs. Administered within a fixed time frame, the test aimed to enhance students’ speed, precision, and time management under exam conditions. The exercise enabled participants to gauge their level of preparedness, identify areas needing improvement, and become familiar with the nature and difficulty of placement aptitude tests. The programme saw active student participation and functioned as a meaningful preparatory initiative towards improving placement readiness.

The Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanti University, organised Mock Aptitude Series – 1 on 20 January 2026 for IV Semester MSc Economics students as part of placement training for the academic year 2025–2026. The test was conducted from 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm. The mock aptitude test was designed to simulate real campus placement examinations and assessed students’ skills in quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, data interpretation, general knowledge, and current affairs. Conducted under timed conditions, the test helped students develop speed, accuracy, and effective time management. The programme enabled students to evaluate their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and gain familiarity with the pattern and difficulty level of placement aptitude tests. The initiative witnessed active participation and served as a valuable preparatory exercise.
