Add-on Course on Advanced Research Methodology, Scientific writing and Scholarly publication for III B.Sc Economics Students

The Department of Economics organized an Add-on Course on " Advanced Research Methodology, Scientific writing and Scholarly publication " for the III Semester M.Sc Economics students from 16/07/2026 to 22/07/2026 at H106, Humanities Block. The course focused on advanced research methodology, research design, formulation of research problems and objectives, methodological approaches, data analysis, scientific writing, research ethics, citation and referencing practices, and the scholarly publication process. Special emphasis was placed on developing students’ ability to critically evaluate academic literature, structure research papers, present empirical findings effectively, adhere to academic writing standards, and identify suitable avenues for scholarly publication. The interactive and research-oriented sessions provided students with practical exposure to the complete research cycle—from conceptualizing a research problem and conducting a systematic literature review to preparing a scientifically structured manuscript for publication. The programme further enhanced students’ analytical thinking, methodological rigour, academic writing proficiency, and understanding of ethical research practices. Through active participation, discussions, and practical learning activities, the course equipped students with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to undertake independent research, contribute to scholarly discourse, pursue higher academic and research opportunities, and develop professionally as emerging economists and researchers.

The Department of Economics organized an Add-on Course on "Introduction to Research, Technical Writing, and Academic Communication" for the V Semester B.A. Applied Economics students from 15/07/2026 to 21/07/2026 at H102, Admin Block. The course was designed to equip students with the fundamentals of research methodology, technical writing, and effective academic communication, thereby enhancing their research aptitude and scholarly writing skills. The sessions provided students with practical insights into the research process, academic writing standards, literature review, citation practices, and professional communication. The programme encouraged students to develop analytical thinking, improve their writing abilities, and prepare themselves for higher studies and research-oriented careers. The interactive sessions enabled students to actively participate and gain valuable knowledge that will support their academic and professional development.

VAC on Fundamentals of Excel for Data Analytics
Date: 14 to 18 July 2026
The Department of Economics, School of Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, successfully organised an Add-on Course on "Fundamentals of Excel for Data Analytics" for the III Semester B.Sc. Applied Economics students from 14 July 2026 to 18 July 2026 at H-101, Admin Block. The programme was designed to provide students with practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its applications in data analysis. The sessions covered spreadsheet fundamentals, data entry and formatting, formulas and functions, sorting and filtering, conditional formatting, data validation, PivotTables, charts, and dashboard creation. Emphasis was placed on hands-on learning through practical exercises and real-world datasets relevant to economics and business. Students actively participated in interactive sessions, completing individual and group activities that enhanced their problem-solving and analytical skills. The course enabled participants to efficiently organize, analyze, and visualize data, preparing them for academic research and professional applications in economics, finance, and business analytics. The programme concluded with practical assignments that allowed students to demonstrate their understanding of Excel tools by creating analytical reports and dashboards. Participants appreciated the practical orientation of the course and expressed confidence in applying their newly acquired skills to future academic and professional tasks.
