The session focused on AI-driven changes in accounting, emerging roles in analytics and strategic finance, and the need for CMAs to combine technical expertise with digital skills, adaptability, and continuous learning.


From Campus to Corporate: Career Readiness for Accounting Professionals

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College organized an insightful career guidance session on February 12, 2025, led by Mr. Uttam Pai, CPA, and CMA. The session provided valuable insights into career planning and skill development for aspiring accounting professionals.

Mr. Pai highlighted the growing demand for accountants in the U.S. and the significant role Indian professionals play in bridging the global talent gap. He emphasized the importance of accountants in financial decision-making and corporate governance, stressing their critical role in today's dynamic business environment.

The session also shed light on how Big 4 firms and business outsourcing companies in India are actively hiring CMAs and CPAs for audit and tax roles, offering exciting global career opportunities. Mr. Pai further emphasized the importance of a strong CV, encouraging students to showcase their expertise in U.S. GAAP, corporate governance, and taxation (including Forms 1040, 1120 C/S, and 1085).

The event concluded with an engaging Q & A session, where students had the opportunity to seek personalized career advice from Mr. Uttam Pai. Overall, the session provided invaluable guidance for students aspiring to build successful careers in accounting and finance.


Advanced Career-Placement Orientation

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an intensive session titled "Advanced Career-Placement Orientation" from January 17th to 31st, 2025, tailored specifically for second-year students. This program was designed to delve deeper into the intricacies of the placement process, building upon foundational knowledge to enhance students' readiness for imminent career opportunities.

Final-year students-Ms. M. Bhavana, Mr. Affan, Ms. N. V. Chanaswi, Mr. Rohan M. Bijoy, and Mr. Hanan Mathew Suresh—shared their personal experiences, offering nuanced perspectives on the interviewer-interviewee dynamic and strategies to navigate complex interview scenarios. The session emphasized the competitiveness of aptitude assessments, providing participants with strategies to excel in these evaluations.

The programme also included strategies and resources to prepare for logical reasoning, critical thinking, and numerical reasoning, coupled with mock group discussions. Students were introduced to a curated selection of online certification courses and essential skill-building resources, encouraging continuous professional development and adaptability to industry advancements.

This orientation programme significantly bolstered students' confidence and preparedness for upcoming placements. By integrating peer insights, analytical training, technical proficiency, soft skills enhancement, and resource enrichment, the session equipped second-year students with a robust toolkit to navigate the complexities of the job market. The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a comprehensive session titled "Enhancing Skills for Career-Placement Orientation" from January 24th to February 12th, 2025, targeting first-year students. This initiative aimed to equip students with a thorough understanding of the placement interview process, encompassing critical components to bolster their career readiness.

Key Highlights of the Session:
• Insights from Senior Students: Final-year students—Ms. M Bhavana, Mr. Affan, Ms. N V Chanaswi, Mr. Rohan M Bijoy, and Mr. Hanan Mathew Suresh—shared their firsthand experiences, providing valuable perspectives on navigating the placement process.
• Comprehensive Coverage: The session addressed essential elements such as aptitude tests, technical interviews, group discussions, and self-improvement strategies. It emphasized enhancing students' competencies and communication skills, familiarizing them with frequently asked questions, and offering practical insights through mock interview scenarios.

National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Course on Digital Statutory E-Filing
Date:4th – 8th November 2024
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College, in collaboration with Nergy, successfully conducted a five-day National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Course on "Essentials of Digital Statutory E-filing" from November 4-8, 2024. The primary aim of this initiative was to equip students with practical knowledge in statutory compliance and enhance their employability skills in th field of finance and accounting.

The course, certified by the Banking Financial Services Insurance Sector Skills Council (BFS-ISSC) and approved by the National Council of Vocational Education & Training (NCVET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, drew an impressive participation of 471 students. A distinguished panel of experts, including CMA Ashiq Rahiman AV, CA Kunal Kumar, CMA Priya Sharma, CMA Balagopalan PL, and CA Peter Richard, delivered comprehensive training on crucial aspects of the statutory compliance.

The programme delivered significant outcomes through its comprehensive curriculum, which covered Digital Statutory e-Filing, Income Tax Returns, GST Returns, TDS and TCS Filings, ESIC and EPFO regulations, Digital Signature Certificates (DSC), MSME Compliance, and MCA Filings.

The key outcomes of the programme include proficiency in digital compliance management, practical exposure on various statutory filings, and improved readiness for professional roles such as Compliance Officer, Tax Consultant, and Financial Analyst. Through intensive practical sessions, participants developed robust technical skills and an understanding of the regulatory frameworks. The resource person for the session was Mr. Ramdas GK, Manager- Aacdemics, Miles Education, Bengaluru. The session began with an introduction to the globally recognized Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and its significance in the accounting and finance industry. Mr. Ramdas highlighted the prestigious nature of the CPA credential, emphasizing its ability to unlock diverse career opportunities in auditing, taxation, financial analysis, and consultancy.

Tailored to align with the academic and professional aspirations of IBF students, the session provided insights into how the CPA certification can enhance their career prospects and prepare them for the competitive global finance environment. Mr. Ramdas outlined the exam's structure, including its key components, registration process, and preparation strategies, offering students a clear roadmap to achieve success.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance recently hosted an expert talk titled "Career Pathways", led by Mr. Sheik Haseeb Sabir, a seasoned executive, currently driving innovation at Core Stack. Mr. Sabir offered valuable career visions, marking an edge between jobs and careers, emphasizing long-term personal fulfillment over short-term employment. He stressed the importance of networking for professional growth and opening new opportunities. A key theme of the talk was the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the job market. While AI may automate routine tasks, Mr. Sabir noted that it also creates new roles requiring advanced skills, urging students to proactively upskill and stay updated on technological advancements. He highlighted the role of certifications as essential for staying competitive in the evolving workforce. Mr. Sabir also underscored the importance of research, not only for innovation but as a critical tool for informed decision-making in professional settings. For students in finance, staying informed about global trends was particularly emphasized as crucial for strategic decision-making. Additionally, he Mr. Sabir discussed rising competition, acknowledging that while it can drive better performance, it also increases stress and anxiety. Mr. Sabir encouraged a balance between professional ambition and personal well-being.

Students were also briefed about ISDC support initiatives, including bridge classes, PAN India revision programs, and exam-focused workshops.

The session provided guidelines on the internship covering internship approach, industry selection, and intern expectations, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to successfully secure and complete their internships.


CAT 2026 Orientation
Date: 12 December 2025
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the Centre for Competitive Examinations Training, organised a CAT 2026 Orientation on 12th December 2025 for second-year students, led by Mr. Ramakrishna Bhimana (IIM Ahmedabad), Director of 100 Percentile.

The session covered the CAT exam structure, scoring and percentile calculations, IIM admission criteria, and strategic advantages for commerce students, along with insights into top B-schools and career prospects.

Students were briefed on the on-campus CAT coaching programme and inspired to begin early, structured preparation through the success stories of 100 Percentile.

Inauguration of the Entrepreneurship Cell – Ventures Club

The session aimed to familiarise students with the structure, scope, and career opportunities associated with the ACCA qualification. The programme featured expert speakers, Mr. S Calvin Fredy Paul (Regional Head – Partnerships) and Ms. Falguni M Maniar (Associate – Operations Support), who provided valuable insights on curriculum details, global recognition, registration processes, and academic planning.

Placement Orientation and Training Programme - GATE 2025

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, in association with the Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR), conducted a Placement Orientation and Training Programme on 1st August 2025 at the Jubilee Auditorium. The session, led by Prof. Sen B. Mathews, Director – CECR, provided students with an overview of placement policies, eligibility requirements, and professional responsibilities. Interactive activities such as Group Discussions, Aptitude and Mock Interview sessions gave students hands-on exposure to the recruitment process.


Orientation Program on B.Com Business Analytics

An Orientation Program for B.Com Business Analytics was held on 31st July 2025 at the A2 Auditorium, organized by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). The session aimed to familiarize students with the significance of Business Analytics, the IOA registration process, model access, and future opportunities in the field. Dr. Sheetal Mahendher, Head of Academics – Analytics at ISDC Global, served as the resource person and emphasized the rising demand for data-literate professionals and the practical importance of analytics in decision-making. She also introduced the IOA, explaining the registration procedure and their core areas of expertise. A detailed overview of the course structure, including curriculum, assessments, internships, and career prospects, was presented. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, leaving students motivated and well-oriented for their academic journey in Business Analytics.


Orientation Program on CPA & CMA
Date: 29 July 2025
The Orientation-session for the BCom integrated with US CPA & CMA pursuing students, organized by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, served as a foundational session for first-year B.Com IBF and CMA students. Mr. Uttam Pai Umesh, CPA, CMA, and Associate Vice President at Miles Education, led the session with remarkable clarity and relevance. The session began by identifying the widening global skill gap, especially in domains like auditing, financial reporting, and performance management. Mr. Uttam emphasized how certifications like US CPA and CMA are not just career enhancers but are becoming essential for global mobility and recognition.

The eligibility requirements for both CPA and CMA, breaking down credit hours, educational prerequisites, and relevant state board rules were also shared. The explanation of transcript evaluation, registration procedures, and exam scheduling cleared several common misconceptions. What made the session especially valuable was his focus on the procedural roadmap and a step-by-step plan from enrolling to appearing for exams. He also highlighted the importance of professional ethics, analytical thinking, and international standards knowledge as major gaps in traditional commerce education.

By illustrating the demand for US-qualified professionals in Indian and global markets, he motivated students to begin early. His insights on time management, study strategy, and the role of training partners offered clarity on how to plan certification alongside academic coursework. In essence, the program empowered students with information, direction, and confidence.


CA Foundation: Your First Step to Success

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an orientation on the Chartered Accountant (CA) program for first-year Professional students on 26th July 2025. CA Suresh Kumar Mani, Finance Director at CSG Systems, Bengaluru, was the resource person for the session. He described the CA course as both dynamic and rewarding, blending theoretical knowledge with practical training in auditing. He emphasized the increasing demand for finance professionals in today’s growing economy and the prestige and financial rewards associated with a CA career. The session also outlined the diverse roles CAs can take on, such as CFOs, Finance Managers, Advisors, or independent consultants. The orientation effectively raised awareness among students about the significance and vast career potential of pursuing a CA qualification.


Department Orientation - Second Year PAF

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti University organized an orientation session on 7th July 2025 for the second-year B.Com PAF students (Batch 2024–27). The primary objective of the session was to acquaint students with the institution's Vision and Mission, highlight the significant contributions of the Founder members in establishing the college, and provide a clear understanding of the Jayantian Code of Conduct expected from every student.

During the session, the class animators for the second-year students underscored the importance of following the institute’s dress code, upholding proper grooming standards, and embracing the campus ethos. They reiterated the institution's expectations for students to conduct themselves as responsible citizens and active members of the academic community. Students were reminded of their responsibility to be familiar with, and consistently adhere to, the college’s code of conduct, policies, rules, and regulations—both within the classroom and throughout the campus.

The class animators also provided an overview of the various aspects of student life at Kristu Jayanti University, emphasizing the opportunities available for personal growth and development. This orientation was a crucial step in helping students understand and embrace the values and responsibilities of being a Jayantian.


Orientation on Internship

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru conducted an Internship Orientation Session exclusively for IV Semester ACCA, Professional, and Business Analytics students.

The session took place on April 3, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the A3 Auditorium, Admin Block.

The primary objective of the session was to provide essential guidelines for the upcoming 30-day internship, scheduled from the end of May 2025 to July 2025.

During the orientation, students were briefed on how to approach potential internships, the process of selecting suitable industries, and the key expectations from interns.

The session offered valuable insights and practical tips, empowering students with the knowledge and confidence needed to secure and excel in their internships.


Launchpad to Success: Navigating Your Placement Journey

On 24th January 2025, an insightful Orientation on Placement, “Launchpad to Success: Navigating Your Placement Journey”, was conducted by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous. The session, designed for II Semester B.Com BA "A" students, was facilitated by our dedicated final-year student coordinators, Mr. Affan and Mr. Hannan. The event took place at 9:00 AM in the Admin Block, Room No. B503. The career guidance program successfully provided students with valuable information and resources to facilitate informed career decision-making. The program fostered a proactive approach towards career planning and empowered students to actively pursue their future goals. It provided them with the essential information, skills, and tools needed to effectively navigate the placement process and secure a job after graduation. The primary objective of the orientation was to prepare students mentally and practically for the challenges they might face during the placement process, enhancing their chances of success. This session helped students understand how to create an impactful resume. Emphasis was placed on structuring the resume effectively, highlighting key skills, experiences, and academic achievements. The orientation has provided valuable insights into the different types of interviews students might face (e.g., technical, HR), and offered mock interviews to help them practice their responses to common interview questions. Students were educated on important soft skills like communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are often sought by employers. Role-playing activities were incorporated to help students improve their interpersonal skills.

The workshop featured two resource persons: Dr. S. Girish, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, and Dr. Vinay M, Associate Professor and Head of Computer Science, Statistics & Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). SPSS for Beginners

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a workshop on “SPSS for Beginners” on 23rd October 2025. The trainers Mr. Shivaraj Choitagi and Ms. Likitha K ,ISDC, Bengalur equipped students with essential skills in data manipulation, visualization, and statistical modeling using R.

Training Classes in Social Media Analytics

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a training program on Social Media Analytics for third-year business analytics students. The sessions were designed to provide both theoretical understanding and practical exposure to analyzing social media platforms, with a special focus on Twitter and Instagram. The objective was to familiarize students with tools and techniques for social media data collection, sentiment analysis, and sensitivity analysis, enabling them to derive meaningful insights for academic and professional use. The training proved highly practical and enriching, as students combined Instagram’s professional analytics tools with Twitter sentiment and sensitivity analysis, gaining a strong foundation in collecting, processing, and transforming social media data into valuable insights. This knowledge equips them to apply analytics not only in academic projects but also in real-world contexts such as marketing, branding, and social research.


Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), organized a 30-hour training program on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence from 29th July to 25th August 2025 for III Semester B.Com (Business Analytics) students. Mr. Shivaraj Choutagi, Corporate Trainer and AI Specialist at ISDC, covered the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning techniques,fraud detection, customer segmentation, and predictive analytics. Hands-on exercises using Python, Excel-based ML tools, and visualization platforms provided exposure to data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.


Certificate course on SAS and Tableau

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance successfully conducted a 30-hour training programme on SAS and Tableau for the V Semester B.Com Business Analytics students from 6th to 13th August 2025, organized in collaboration with the Institute of Analytics (IoA), UK, and ISDC, Bengaluru. The programme was designed to impart essential competencies in data visualization and statistical analysis, thereby enhancing students’ career prospects in the analytics domain and preparing them to meet evolving industry demands.

Facilitated by Ms. Likhita, Faculty in Analytics and Digital Marketing at ISDC, the sessions focused on using SAS for advanced data analysis and Tableau for creating impactful visual dashboards. Students engaged in hands-on projects, gaining practical expertise in interpreting data trends, deriving insights, and presenting them through professional visuals. The training emphasized industry best practices, encouraging the application of analytical tools to solve real-world business challenges. Through guided exercises and case studies, participants developed a strong understanding of how data-driven decision-making supports organizational success.

Overall, the initiative provided valuable exposure to global analytics platforms, boosting technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence for future roles in data analytics and business intelligence.


Bridge Course on Basics of Accounting

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a Bridge Ccourse titled “Basics of Accounting” for the first-year B.Com Strategic Finance, held between 30th July to 4th August 2025. This intensive week-long programme aimed to equip students with a thorough understanding of fundamental accounting principles and concepts. The sessions were led by Ms. Alka Kothari- Chartered Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, Trainer,Miles Education. Her expertise enriched the learning experience, guiding students through key concepts such as the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, and the structure of financial statements including the Income statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements.


Fundamentals of US Accounting

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted a Bridge course titled “Fundamentals of US Accounting” for the first-year B.Com IBF students (Batch 2025).

The sessions were taken by ,CA Suresh Kumar Mani, CPA, Finance Director at CSG Systems, Bengaluru. The topics covered include- golden rules of Accounting, subsidiary books, Financial statements ,US GAAP principles and more.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted a 30-hour intensive training programme on Big Data for final-year B.Com Business Analytics students . The trainer, Ms. Likhita K from ISDC covered core Big Data concepts, the 5 V’s, and offered hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, data mining, and machine learning.


Natural Language Processing (NLP)

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted a 30-hour training programme on Natural Language Processing (NLP) for final-year B.Com Business Analytics students. The trainer Ms. Nivis from ISDC strengthened students’ understanding of the concepts of NLP and its relevance in real-world business contexts.


Preparing for the CMA Exam

A focused group discussion session was conducted for the second year students preparing for the CMA Exam in the January–February 2026 window on 20/09/2025 by Ms.Alka Kothari, CMA Trainer from Miles Education. The session offered targeted revision strategies, personalized preparation plans, and guidance on high-impact topics. Com Ist Year students from August 1st to 19th August, 2025.This Bridge Course is specially designed for non-commerce students to develop a basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
