Two Day Workshop on Financial Education – Youth & Wealth: Building Tomorrow Today (Kona Kona Shiksh13 & 14

Department of Management, School of Business and Management, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in collaboration with NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets) organised a Two Day Workshop on “Financial Education – Youth and Wealth: Building Tomorrow Today” (Kona Kona Shiksha) for Third Year BBA students on 13th and 14th October, 2024. The aim of this workshop is to empower students with essential financial knowledge. The first day began with a quiz on investment basics, followed by an engaging discussion on the evolution of investments from the barter system to the industrial revolution where companies began seeking capital from the public. Participants learned about the key concepts of Savings, Investments, and Trading, and explored how compound interest benefits long-term investors. An activity on defining personal financial goals encouraged students to outline their lifetime financial objectives, specifying timelines, investment strategies, and expected outcomes. Through this exercise, students discovered the value of setting SMART goals - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and time-oriented.

The session also focused on the do’s and don’ts of investing, emphasizing the importance of verifying authenticity, using SEBI registered brokers, starting investments early, and maintaining awareness of inflation-adjusted returns. Students learned about Demat and Trading accounts, mutual funds, and post office schemes, gaining clarity on when each type of account is required.

On the second day, participants explored topics such as IPO and FPO, Trade and Settlement cycles (T+1), mutual funds (open and close-ended), and investment modes like SIP, STP, and SWP. Students were divided into five groups to deliver creative presentations on different investment related topics such as Ponzi schemes, inflation impacts, diversified investments, intraday vs. long-term investments, and cybersecurity in finance. The workshop concluded with a quiz session, where participants demonstrated significant improvement from Day 1, reflecting the workshop’s success in enhancing financial awareness and practical understanding.

Students learned the importance of saving money and investing it wisely for the future. They understood how to plan their financial goals using the SMART method and the need to start investing early. The workshop helped them identify different types of investments like mutual funds, trading, and SIPs, and how each one works. They also learned to avoid risky or fake schemes by checking for SEBI registration and official websites. Overall, the session improved their confidence in handling money, planning expenses, and making safe and smart financial decisions in real life.


Virtuoso 2025 - A Management Workshop

The Department of Management of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University, organised Virtuoso – The Origins 101, a management workshop exclusively designed for BBA I Semester students on 8th August 2025. The event aimed to provide an engaging platform for young management aspirants to gain insights into the fundamentals of business and management through interactive sessions and activities. The inaugural ceremony was held at 10:00 AM in M1 Auditorium, 1st Floor, Main Block. The Presidential Address was delivered by Fr. Dr. Marialal Joseph, Director of Research & Development. The Inaugural Address was given by the Chief Guest, Mr. M. Vishwanathan, Senior Quality Professional at Novo Nordisk, who shared his industry expertise and inspired the participants to develop core management skills. The workshop marked the beginning of the students’ journey into the world of management and aimed to nurture their talents, leadership abilities, and professional competencies from the very first semester. The workshop featured six event —EDP: Founder’s Arena, Marketing: Operation Buzz, Best Manager: Master Mind, Finance: The Ledger Leak, and HR: The Control Room—which were structured to test participants’ knowledge, problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork, while offering them an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in simulated business scenarios. Participants developed enhanced problem-solving abilities, improved decision-making skills, and gained confidence in working collaboratively under time-bound conditions. The given tasks also fostered creativity, analytical thinking, and adaptability, preparing students for future academic and professional challenges.
