Value Added Course
VAC on Event Design and Management
Date: 10 to 15 July 2025
The Department of Media Studies organised a Value-Added Course titled "Event Design and Management" for the III MA Journalism and Mass Communication students, held from 10 to 15 July 2025. The course aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of planning and executing events, with a strong focus on practical implementation and real-world applications.
Sessions introduced students to key concepts such as event theme development, types of events, and proposal writing. The course further explored the planning process, role of the event manager, team coordination, and logistics. Students were trained in event marketing strategies, venue layout design, and the creation of detailed event scripts. The role and responsibilities of a Master of Ceremonies (MC) were also discussed, alongside techniques for handling unexpected situations during live events. The final sessions featured case studies including the challenges of hosting the Olympics in India and an analysis of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Students engaged in hands-on activities such as developing promotional materials and setting up a mock event, which enabled them to apply concepts in real-time scenarios.
By the end of the course, students had gained valuable insights into the event management lifecycle and were equipped to conceptualise, design, and coordinate various types of events with creativity, strategic planning, and professionalism.

VAC - Introduction to Art Direction
Date: 08 to 12 July 2025
The Department of Media Studies organised a Value-Added Course titled "Introduction to Art Direction" for the III B.Sc. Visual Communication students, held from 08 July to 12 July 2025, in H503. The course was designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of art direction in film, television, and media production. Sessions covered a wide range of essential topics, including the structure and workflow of the Art Department, methods for breaking down a script, and developing initial design concepts through focused research and referencing. Students gained insights into studio and set construction, understanding the technical aspects involved in building a believable environment. The course also explored the principles of lighting, set decoration, selecting colour palettes, and considering spatial elements of design. By the end of the course, students were equipped to apply the design process to create functional set designs, analyse spatial arrangements to support storytelling, and evaluate how light, colour, and decoration influence the visual and psychological aspects of media production.

VAC - Fundamental of Audio Production
Date: 08 July 2025
The Department of Media Studies organized a Value Added course titled “Fundamentals of Audio Production” for III Sem BA JMC students from July 8 to July 12, 2025. This VAC Course was designed to equip students with practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of audio production for journalism, podcasting, and multimedia storytelling.
This skill-based course introduced students to the essentials of sound theory, production, field recording, and audio editing techniques, enabling them to produce high-quality audio content for various platforms.
