The Department of Media Studies at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University organized AUTEUR – 2026, an intercollegiate short film festival held on February 24, 2026. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to engage in experiential learning, healthy competition, and creative collaboration. It showcased a dynamic blend of innovation, teamwork, and media excellence. The fest reflected the institution’s continued commitment to quality education in media and the humanities. Mr Lawrence Kishore, National Award-winning filmmaker and editor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he shared insights into various editing techniques and the different stages of filmmaking, emphasizing patience as an indispensable virtue for aspiring filmmakers. Delivering the felicitation address, Dr Gopakumar AV, Dean, Humanities and Social Sciences said, “Auteur means the primary creative force behind a film. Auteur is a person whose work bears a recognisable personal signature”. He further appreciated Mr Lawrence Kishore for spending an entire day looking at every production submitted for the fest. AUTEUR comprised of three specialized events such as narrative short film, micro series, and single take. Awards for best Director, Cinematographer, editor, Screenplay, and Film were given. Students from various colleges and universities across Karnataka participated enthusiastically.
