ON-REC 2026: National Level Intercollegiate Media Fest

The Department of Media Studies at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be) University organized ON-REC 2026: National Level Intercollegiate Media Fest on February 23, 2026.
Delivering the inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew, Chief Human Resource Officer and Director of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, highlighted the significance of such initiatives within India’s rapidly expanding creative and media industries often described as the ‘orange economy’, encompassing sectors such as advertising, visual effects, gaming, and cinema. Present at the inauguration were also Dr. Gopakumar AV, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Dr. Aby Augustine, Head, Department of Media Studies.
ON-REC - 2026 featured six on-stage events namely Brand Campaign Pitching, Press Conference, Ad-o-Mania, PR Crisis Management, Media Quiz, and Memory Game and four off-stage events which consisted of Screenplay Writing, On-Spot Photography, Storyboarding (hand drawn) and Treasure Hunt. Around 10 different universities and colleges from across Karnataka participated in various events of the Fest enthusiastically.

On-Rec 2025: Kristu Jayanti College Hosts Intercollegiate Media Fest

The Department of Media Studies at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) organized ON-REC 2025, an intercollegiate media fest that provided a vibrant platform for students to engage in learning, competition, and personal growth. The event showcased a blend of creativity, teamwork, and media excellence, reflecting the institution’s commitment to quality education in media and the humanities on March 28, 2025.
Mr. Prasad Naik, Editor of Vijay Karnataka Online and the chief guest of the event, shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of digital media. Drawing from over 20 years of experience, he emphasized the importance of adaptability and leveraging opportunities in the ever-changing media industry.
Mr. Prasad, recounted his journey from programming to reporting, highlighting the significance of continuous learning and utilizing college resources to build a successful media career.
Fr. Emmanuel P.J., Director of International Relations, delivered the Presidential Address, commending the division’s achievements in social media, exhibitions, and public awareness. “It’s a privilege to address media studies students who excel in making the college well-known through their dedication and innovative contributions,” he remarked, acknowledging the dynamic leadership, passionate faculty, and talented students that drive the institution’s success.
The fest featured a diverse range of competitions that tested both creative and analytical skills. Off-stage events such as Journalist Trail, Storyboarding, and Spot Photography encouraged creativity, while on-stage events including Crisis Management, Anchoring, Debate, and Personality Challenges honed critical thinking and presentation abilities.
The valedictory session marked the conclusion of the day’s events, where the Student Coordinator expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and participants through a heartfelt vote of thanks. Reflecting on the event, Moksha from Presidency College shared, “It was very insightful and a great learning experience.”
ON-REC 2025 not only celebrated media excellence but also reaffirmed Kristu Jayanti College’s dedication to nurturing future media professionals.
