Alumni Interaction Series: Lesson 10 Chapters: Life 100 Chapters

The Department of Physical Sciences organized an alumni talk titled "Lesson 10 Chapters: Life 100 Chapters" for first-year undergraduate students with the objective of helping them understand the true purpose of higher education and encouraging their overall personal development.

The session was delivered by our distinguished alumna, Ms. Supriya Nickam (B.Sc. CSME, 2016–2019 batch), Product Manager, UST R&D, Bengaluru. She highlighted the importance of being proactive, resourceful, and prepared to face new challenges while maintaining clarity in both academic and personal aspirations.

The talk offered valuable insights that inspired students to approach their academic journey with confidence and purpose. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students actively participated, clarified their doubts, and engaged meaningfully with the speaker.


Alumni Interaction Series: “Trust, but Verify: Statistics in the Age of AI”

The Department of Physical Sciences, School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), organised an Alumni Interaction Series featuring Mr. Ashwin Hebbar, Data Scientist at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Bengaluru, and alumnus of the 2020 B.Sc. CSMS batch. The session, held on 25 July 2026 for the I Semester M.Sc. Statistics students, focused on the relevance of statistical thinking in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Mr. Ashwin highlighted the importance of strong statistical foundations and human judgement in validating AI-generated information. Through real-world examples of Bayes’ Theorem, A/B testing, and dynamic pricing, he demonstrated the practical applications of statistics in technology and business.

He encouraged students to move beyond their comfort zones, strengthen their fundamentals, and embrace emerging technologies. The session concluded with students gaining valuable insights into the enduring importance of statistical reasoning and the growing opportunities in statistics, data science, and AI.

Alumni Meet

The Department of Physical Sciences organized an Alumni Meet on 7th March 2026, bringing together distinguished alumni from different batches who returned to the campus to reconnect and share their experiences with the current students. The event began with a warm welcome to the invited guests, many of whom have achieved notable success in their respective professional fields after graduating from the institution. The gathering created a nostalgic and vibrant atmosphere as alumni fondly recalled their memorable college days. A key highlight of the program was the series of inspiring talks delivered by the alumni speakers, who are accomplished professionals in their fields. They shared their post-graduation journeys, discussing the challenges they encountered, the lessons they learned, and the achievements that shaped their careers. Following the talks, an interactive question-and-answer session allowed students to engage directly with the alumni, seeking advice, clarification, and career guidance. This exchange of ideas and experiences strengthened the connection between past and present members of the institution and fostered a strong sense of community. The event also included games and enjoyable activities, adding a lively and entertaining dimension to the gathering.
