Two days Excursion to Coorg and Chikmagalur
Date: 31 January & 01 February 2026
The School of Computational and Physical Sciences organized an educational excursion to Chikmagalur and Coorg on 31st January and 1st February for Final Year B.Sc. students (STEC, STMM, and STCS). The excursion aimed to provide students with academic enrichment, cultural exposure, and experiential learning beyond the classroom.

In Coorg, students visited the Golden Temple, gaining insight into its spiritual significance and architectural elegance. They also explored Nisargadhama Bird Park, where they learned about avian diversity, wildlife conservation, and the ecological importance of the region.

In Chikmagalur, students participated in an exciting Jeep Trekking experience through the scenic terrain of the Western Ghats. They visited Z Point, a popular trekking and viewpoint destination near Kemmangundi, renowned for its panoramic views and natural landscapes. The group also explored Baba Budangiri, a historically and culturally significant mountain range known as the birthplace of coffee in India and revered for its religious heritage and breath-taking scenery.

Overall, the excursion was a meaningful and enriching experience that enhanced students’ environmental awareness, practical knowledge, teamwork, and appreciation of natural and cultural heritage.


Industrial Visit to Coca-Cola Manufacturing Plant, Bidadi
Date: 18 December 2025
The School of Physical Sciences, Department of Physical Sciences organized an Industrial Visit to the Coca-Cola Manufacturing Plant, Bidadi, for the IV Semester B.Sc. CPE (Section B) students on 18th December 2025 at 10:30 AM, with the objective of providing practical exposure to large-scale industrial operations and manufacturing processes.

The industrial visit was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and real-world industrial practices. It provided students with firsthand exposure to the application of concepts related to production management, quality assurance, industrial safety, and operations management in a real industrial environment.

During the visit, students were introduced to the complete production lifecycle, including raw material handling, automated bottling processes, packaging, storage, and distribution. Special emphasis was placed on quality control measures followed at each stage of production to ensure product consistency, safety, and compliance with global standards. Students also gained insights into the safety protocols implemented to maintain a secure working environment, emphasizing the importance of occupational health and safety.

The visit also exposed students to modern automation systems, advanced manufacturing technologies, and sustainability practices adopted by Coca-Cola, such as efficient water management, energy conservation, and waste reduction initiatives. Interactions with industry professionals provided students with an understanding of organizational structure, workforce management, and the role of innovation in enhancing operational efficiency.

Overall, the industrial visit served as an effective experiential learning platform, strengthening students’ practical understanding of industrial processes and fostering industry-oriented thinking. The students-maintained discipline throughout the visit and strictly adhered to the safety guidelines and instructions provided by plant officials and faculty coordinators, ensuring a productive and enriching learning experience.


Industrial Visit to U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC)
Date: 03 & 04 November 2025
The School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Department of Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organized an industrial visit to the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, on 3rd and 4th November 2025.

A total of 140 students from III Semester B.Sc. CSM A, CSM B, and CSE participated in the visit, which was conducted in three batches. The visit provided students with valuable first-hand exposure to various facets of satellite design, system integration, data transmission, and mission control operations, thereby linking academic learning with practical applications.

This experiential learning initiative fostered scientific curiosity and interdisciplinary collaboration among students, while highlighting the pivotal role of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in advancing space research and technological innovation in the nation.


Industrial Visit to Gauribidanur Radio Observatory
Date: 26 August 2025
The Department of Physical Sciences under the School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti University organized an Industrial Visit to Gauribidanur Radio Observatory (GRO), Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka on 26th August 2025 for the first year BSc (CSPHEL) students. This renowned observatory in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, conducts cutting-edge research on solar corona and coronal mass ejections. The visit was a resounding success, with students thoroughly enjoying the insightful sessions that sparked excitement in them. The engaging narratives on the structure of the radio antennas and their functions and the digital labs helped students in understanding the working of instruments and how the signals received by the antennas are decoded for the research on the Sun. Overall, it was a fascinating experience for all the participants as it facilitated a room for scientific thinking in the young minds. The students were accompanied by Dr. Yuvaraj V and Ms. Jisna Maria Jose and the visit was coordinated by Dr. Shivaraj Maidur.


Industrial Visit to Kaiga Generating Station, NPCIL
Date: 23 August 2025
The students of 5th Semester PHCS, PHEL, and CSEL from the Department of Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, undertook an industrial visit to the Kaiga Generating Station (KGS), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Kaiga, Karwar, on 23rd August 2025. A total of 44 students participated in this experiential learning program, accompanied by faculty members Dr. Shivaraj Maidur, Dr. M. Ambrose Rajkumar, and Ms. Amutha Madhu.

The Kaiga Generating Station, situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, is one of India’s prominent nuclear power facilities, operated by NPCIL. It houses multiple Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactors (PHWRs) that significantly contribute to the nation’s power grid.

During the visit, students gained valuable insights into:
• The principles of nuclear power generation and reactor operations.
• Advanced safety systems and radiation protection measures practiced at NPCIL.
• The role of sustainable and reliable energy in meeting India’s growing demands.

This industrial visit provided an enriching opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. It enhanced their understanding of nuclear physics, electronics, and energy systems, while also motivating them to pursue research and careers in science and technology.


Industrial Visit - Gauribidanur Radio Observatory
Date: 12 August 2025
The Department of Physical Sciences organized a visit to the Gauribidanur Radio Observatory for the students of III CPE A, V STMM, and V STEC as part of their industrial visit on 12/8/2025. The visit aimed to provide practical insights into radio astronomy and its applications. Upon arrival, the group was warmly received by Mr. Keshav, staff of the observatory. Two experienced engineers from the facility conducted an informative session for the students. They explained the structure and functioning of the radio antenna arrays installed at the site and how they are used to receive radio signals from celestial sources. Walking through the wide-open fields filled with antenna structures gave students a direct view of the scale of radio astronomy facilities. Students were also shown various instruments, control systems, and equipment used in the observation process. The visit helped them appreciate the importance of such observatories in scientific research. Overall, it was a highly engaging and educational experience for all participants. Faculty members Dr. Libin Baby and Dr. Vadhana Sharon accompanied and guided the students, and the visit was coordinated by Dr. Shivaraj Maidur.
