The Department of Commerce organized an Alumni Interaction Programme with alumni from the M.Com. 2008–2010 batch. The alumni introduced themselves and shared their experiences as students at Kristu Jayanti University. They also spoke about their current professions and career journeys. They expressed their gladness in being the brand ambassadors of the university. They also were impressed by the incredible growth of the university in terms of number of campuses. The session was informative and helped strengthen the bond between the alumni and the department.

Bridging Cultures and Classrooms: Alumni Insights on Studying Abroad

The Department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti College, organized an alumni interaction session titled “Alumni Interaction: Bridging Cultures and Classrooms – Alumni Insights on Studying Abroad” on 3rd February 2026 at the A2 Auditorium. The session was conducted for the students of IV B. Com A, B, E, and G to provide exposure to global academic and professional opportunities.

The resource person, Mr. Shankar Gopalakrishnan, Tax Associate at Smith + Howard, and an alumnus of the department, shared his journey of pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting and Marketing at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He explained the application process for international universities, financial planning, and adapting to student life abroad. He emphasized the importance of academic excellence, technical competencies, and early preparation.

Drawing from his professional experience in Australia, he highlighted practical exposure in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and the use of tools like Xero and MYOB. He also stressed the significance of soft skills such as communication, adaptability, and professionalism in multicultural workplaces.

The interactive session addressed queries on scholarships, part-time work, cultural experiences, and career prospects abroad. His insights reassured students and inspired them to confidently pursue global opportunities. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the session as highly informative and motivating for aspiring commerce graduates.
