Certificate Course on Advanced Excel
Date: 13 to 18 December 2025
The School of Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti University (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in association with Edify Institute, successfully conducted a Certificate Course on Advanced Excel for I Year M.Com and M.Com (FA) students from 13th to 18th December 2025 at M508 (Main Block). The certificate programme provided an intensive, hands-on learning experience aimed at equipping students with industry-relevant Excel skills essential for careers in commerce, finance, accounting, and analytics. Participants were trained in advanced Excel tools such as complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, dashboards, and automation techniques, enabling effective data analysis and informed decision-making. The course significantly enhanced students’ analytical, technical, and decision-making abilities, improving their readiness for internships, research projects, and professional roles, while offering valuable exposure to expert-led instruction and current industry practices through the collaboration with Edify Institute.


Certificate Course on Power BI
Date: 25 July to 30 August 2025
The Department of Commerce (PG) organized a hands-on Power BI training program as part of its ongoing effort to enhance the technical and analytical skills of students. The program aimed to introduce students to business intelligence tools and empower them to derive insights from data for effective decision-making in the field of commerce. The training was conducted for 3rd Semester M.Com and M.Com FA students over a six-days period from 26th July 2025 to 4th August 2025. A total of 97 students actively participated in the training. The session was designed to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge. Students learned the fundamentals of data visualization, data modeling, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and report creation using Power BI. Through interactive exercises and real-world datasets, students gained hands-on experience in transforming raw data into meaningful dashboards and reports. The highlights of the program included. By the end of the training, students were able to build their own reports and dashboards, equipping them with essential skills needed in data-driven roles in finance, marketing, auditing, and analytics. The Power BI classes were well-received by the students, who appreciated the relevance and practical application of the tool in their academic and future professional pursuits.


Capacity Building Training on Life Skills
Date: 25 to 30 August 2025
The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Centre for Life Skills Education (CLSE), successfully conducted a Capacity Building Training on Life Skills from 25th July to 30th July 2025. This program aimed to equip students with vital personal and professional competencies such as effective communication, emotional intelligence, decision-making, and time management.

Designed to empower participants in both academic and real-world settings, the training featured a series of engaging workshops and hands-on activities. These sessions were facilitated by faculty members from the Department of Commerce, who shared their expertise to ensure a meaningful and practical learning experience.

The training was attended by students from the 1st Semester M.Com and M.Com FA programs, with a total of 60 participants benefiting from the initiative. Through this program, students gained valuable insights and tools to enhance their personal growth, interpersonal relationships, and professional performance.

The Department remains committed to fostering holistic development and will continue to offer such impactful programs in the future.


Value Added Course (VAC) on Organisational Psychology
Date:19 to 24 July 2025
Department of Commerce (UG) offered a Value-Added Course on Organisational Psychology for the V semester B.Com students from 19/07/2025 to 24/07/2025 for the academic year 2025-2026. The primary objective of this course was to enhance the awareness of the undergraduate students on the topic organsational psychology and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their upcoming professional life effectively. It equips students with essential skills such as leadership, communication, motivation, and conflict resolution, which are valuable in any career. This subject also prepares them for roles in human resource management, business, and consultancy by offering insights into employee well-being, productivity, and workplace dynamics. In today’s fast-changing work environment, knowledge of organisational psychology enables students to adapt effectively and contribute positively to team and organisational success.


Value Added Course (VAC) on Personal Finance
Date: 08 to 12 July 2025
Department of Commerce (UG) offered a Value-Added Course on Personal Finance for III semester B.Com students from 8/07/2025 to 12/07/2025 for the academic year 2025-2026. The primary objective of this course was to enhance the financial literacy of undergraduate students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their personal finances effectively. With the rapid evolution of the financial sector and increasing exposure of young individuals to financial products and services, the course aimed to instil financial discipline, promote informed decision-making, and foster responsible money management habits among students. The course covered essential aspects of personal financial planning including budgeting, saving, investment, banking, digital finance, credit management, insurance, and tax planning. The Value Added Course on Personal Finance provided a much-needed platform for students to build strong financial foundations and gain confidence in managing their personal economic resources.


Value Added Course (VAC) on Linear to Circular: Transforming Businesses for Sustainability
The Department of Commerce (PG) organized a 30 hour Intensive Value Added Course (VAC) on LINEAR TO CIRCULAR: TRANSFORMING BUSINESSES FOR SUSTAINABILITY during 8th December, 2025 to 11th December, 2025 from 09.00 am to 3.30 pm in M 508, V Floor, Main Block for the benefit of II Semester M.Com & M.Com FA Students. The aim of the linear to circular is to make the most of the material resources available to us by applying three basic principles: reduce, reuse and recycle. By promoting resource efficiency, reducing waste and pollution, and supporting economic growth and development, the circular economy can help to create a more sustainable future. Also to leverage technological innovations and models of Business Sustainability with the competitive landscape.


Value Added Course (VAC) on Strategic Entrepreneurship
The Department of Commerce (PG) organized a 30 hour Intensive Value Added Course (VAC) on STRATEGIC ENTREPRENEURSHIPand Ethics during 10th July , 2025 to 15th July , 2025 in M501, V Floor, Main Block for the benefit of III Semester M.Com & M.Com FA Students. The primary purpose of strategic entrepreneurship for students is to help them develop a mindset that combines innovation with strategic thinking. It encourages them to identify and exploit new opportunities for growth and success. Students learn how to align entrepreneurial actions with long-term goals. It fosters skills in problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership. Ultimately, it prepares students to create sustainable value in both business and social contexts. The Strategic Entrepreneurship course focuses on integrating innovation with strategic business planning. It helps students understand how to identify opportunities and convert them into sustainable ventures. The course develops skills in competitive strategy, creativity, and leadership. It prepares students to drive growth and value creation in dynamic environments.

This 30 hour Intensive VAC was effectively conducted with the objective of providing insights on Strategic Entrepreneurship. The resource persons for the VAC sessions were Dr.Madhu Druva Kumar, , Dr. Pushpa A, Dr.Cherian Thomas, Dr.Vidhya S and Dr.Mohankumar, Dr. Sakthivel R and Ms.Ashwini S V . Total 96 students (56 from I M.Com & 40 from II M.Com FA) attended this 30-Hour intensive course throwing a light on core principles, rules and regulations in strategic entrepreneurship. The students of this course were effectively equipped with knowledge and understanding of STRATEGIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP
