Industry-Academia Interface- Expert Talk and Panel discussion

An interactive session with 3 resource persons was organized with the aim of gaining valuable industry and academics insights to enhance the institution’s placement strategies. Dean- School of Biological and Forensic sciences, Dr Vijayanand, Head of Department- Department of Life Sciences, Dr Priya Jossan Akkara, Dr Prasanna Kumar and Dr Lakshmi Garimella, faculty coordinators of the program and members of the Placement Cell-Department of Life sciences were present in program.

The programme was held on 11 September 2026 at 11:00 AM at the M4 Auditorium, Science Block, and was attended by 220 First and Second Year M.Sc. Life Science postgraduate students of the Department. The session brought together three resource persons representing complementary career pathways — core industry R&D, advanced academic research, and professional consulting — giving students a comprehensive view of the opportunities available to life science graduates. Each speaker addressed students on their respective domains, followed by an interactive discussion in which students had the opportunity to seek clarifications on career planning, required skill sets and preparation for placements and higher studies. Collectively, the sessions provided students with practical insights into how to plan their careers — from choosing between industry, research and consulting pathways to the specific skills and preparation each route demands.

Food Industry Career Connect

The Food Industry Career Connect session provided II Year M.Sc. Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry students interested in pursuing careers in the food industry had an opportunity to interact directly with an industry professional and understand the skills, competencies and expectations of the sector. The highly interactive and insightful session with Mr. Arun Prakash J., Senior QA Manager, Paradis Food Court Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, enabled students to ask questions, challenge assumptions and gain first-hand insights into careers, recruitment, QA/QC practices, resume building and workplace expectations. The session also helped dispel several common myths surrounding food industry careers and highlighted the importance of developing practical skills and industry readiness. By connecting classroom learning with authentic industry perspectives, the session enabled students to gain a clearer understanding of potential career pathways and envision their future workplace with greater confidence.

Career Orientation
The career orientation session- DISHA 2024 delved into important topics for final-year undergraduate students. We were presented with various career paths in emerging fields and motivated to align them with our interests. The session also informed the importance of continuous skill development through extracurricular activities and internships along with our regular coursework. We were explained the advantages of choosing our college for PG programs in Life sciences, including renowned faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong alumni network, all contributing to a supportive learning environment and upcoming career opportunities. The orientation ended with the current PG students sharing their experiences and the resource persons clarifying the doubts of the attendees.
