The Department of Forensic Science, School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organised an insightful career-oriented session titled “Beyond the Degree: Shaping Careers Beyond the Classroom” for the final year B.Sc. Forensic Science (A) students on 12 February 2026 at 10:00 AM in the M2 Audi, 2nd Floor, Science Block. The session was delivered by Mr. Don Caeiro, Head of the Department of Forensic Science, who served as the resource person for the event. The programme was attended by 63 students and was aimed to guide students on career pathways, professional development, and the practical skills required to succeed in the field of forensic science beyond academic learning.
During the session, Mr. Caeiro emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. He highlighted emerging domains within forensic science such as digital forensics, forensic toxicology, forensic DNA analysis, cyber forensics, and crime scene investigation, encouraging students to identify their areas of interest early and work consistently towards specialization. He also discussed the growing demand for forensic experts in government laboratories, private forensic consultancies, law enforcement agencies, research institutions, and academic sectors. A significant portion of the talk focused on skill enhancement and professional preparedness. Students were advised to cultivate critical thinking, analytical reasoning, report writing proficiency, and courtroom presentation skills. The resource person stressed the value of internships, research projects, certifications, and participation in workshops and conferences to build a strong professional profile. He also provided insights into higher education opportunities, competitive examinations, and international prospects in forensic science.

He emphasised that a degree alone is not sufficient in today’s competitive environment and encouraged students to develop industry-relevant competencies alongside academic excellence. The resource person discussed the importance of internships in forensic laboratories, exposure to real casework, research involvement, and certification courses to enhance employability. He also shed light on opportunities in government forensic science laboratories, law enforcement agencies, private investigative firms, research institutions, and academia. Guidance was provided on preparing for competitive examinations and pursuing higher studies in specialised areas of forensic science. A key focus of the session was on soft skills and professional ethics. Students were advised to cultivate strong communication skills, analytical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability. The Department of Forensic Science, School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organised an informative session titled “Beyond the Degree: Navigating Your Master’s at KJU” on 19 January 2026 at 3:00 PM in Audi A2, 3rd Floor, Admin Block. The session was conducted for final year B.Sc. Forensic Science students with the aim of guiding them on postgraduate opportunities and academic progression.
The event featured an engaging panel discussion with alumni, faculty members, and postgraduate seniors, who shared their academic journeys, experiences, and insights into pursuing a Master’s degree at Kristu Jayanti University. The panelists discussed specialization options, research opportunities, academic expectations, and the transition from undergraduate to postgraduate studies.Students gained clarity on course structure, skill . The programme witnessed active participation and benefited 110 students, making it a meaningful and impactful academic initiative by the department.

Resume Building Orientation Session

An Orientation Session on Resume Building was organized by the School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, Department of Forensic Science in collaboration with Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR) on 28 August 2025 at Conclave Hall, Admin Block for M.Sc. Forensic Science II Year students.
The session was led by Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, CECR, who provided expert guidance on creating impactful resumes, highlighting academic achievements, and tailoring CVs for industry roles. The interactive session included practical examples, helping students build confidence for job applications and interviews.
Participants found the session highly beneficial for enhancing their employability and professional presentation skills.

Placement Orientation & Training Programme (POTP)

The Department of Forensic Science, School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, in collaboration with the Centre for Employability and Corporate Relations (CECR), organized a Placement Orientation & Training Programme (POTP) for final-year UG and PG Forensic Science students on 05 August 2025 at A3 Auditorium, Admin Block.
The session, conducted by Prof. Sen B Mathews, Director, CECR, focused on placement preparation, career opportunities, and skill development strategies. Students gained valuable insights into competitive exam preparation and placement readiness.
The event received positive feedback, with students appreciating the practical tips and motivational guidance shared by the resource person.

Research Orientation Programme for M.Sc. III Semester Students

Career Orientation Programme on “Security Operations Centre”

The "Security Operations Centre" career orientation program, organized by the Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, took place on 10th February 2025. This informative session was aimed at UG final year and PG first and final year students of the department, offering them valuable insights into the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity and security operations. The guest speaker for the event was Ms. Aakanksha Sunil, a Security Analyst at Terrapay Solutions, Bangalore, who is also an alumna of the department.
Ms. Sunil shared her professional experiences and journey in the field of security analysis, highlighting the key responsibilities, skills, and knowledge required to excel in this domain. She also provided an in-depth overview of the Security Operations Centre (SOC), its role in safeguarding organizational systems, and the critical importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world. Additionally, Ms. Sunil discussed various career opportunities in the field, emerging trends in cybersecurity, and the growing demand for skilled professionals in security operations. The session was highly interactive, with students engaging in discussions about career prospects, the challenges of the industry, and how they could prepare themselves for a successful career in security operations. Overall, the program was an enriching experience that inspired students to explore and pursue careers in cybersecurity, equipping them with valuable knowledge about the field.

Internship Orientation Program for II Semester MSc Forensic Science Students

Internship Orientation Program for IV Semester BSc Forensic Science & BSc BTFS Students

The Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College successfully conducted an Internship Orientation Program for the IV Semester students of BSc Forensic Science and BSc Biotechnology, Forensic Science (BTFS). The sessions were aimed at equipping students with essential guidelines and expectations for their upcoming internships. The orientation for BSc Forensic Science students was held on January 10, 2025, and was conducted by Ms. Femin Dominic, Assistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science. The session for BSc BTFS students took place on January 20, 2025, and was led by Ms. Annapoorni Ammal, Assistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science.
Both sessions provided students with valuable insights into the structure of their internships, professional ethics, and the key aspects of their final internship presentations. The speakers emphasized the importance of adhering to institutional guidelines, maintaining proper documentation, and demonstrating analytical and critical thinking skills throughout their internship experience. The orientation sessions served as a crucial stepping stone for students, ensuring they are well-prepared to gain practical exposure in their respective fields and apply their academic knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios.

She shared her experiences as both a student and faculty member, providing an in-depth overview of the postgraduate programs offered at KJC. During the session, she elaborated on the total number of advanced laboratories available for forensic studies, highlighting their role in practical learning and research. She also discussed the diverse subject specializations, including cutting-edge fields in forensic science, ensuring students are well-prepared for industry and academia.
Ms. Nivya also emphasized the research opportunities available at KJC, encouraging students to actively participate in projects that contribute to forensic advancements. She introduced the students to the new perks of enrolling in the PG program, such as enhanced internship and placement support, interdisciplinary collaborations, and access to national and international workshops. The session was interactive, with students engaging in discussions about career prospects, higher education, and research pathways. The orientation concluded with a Q&A session, where students clarified their queries regarding admissions, eligibility, and career growth.
