Training Programme on ATR-FTIR

The School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, Department of Forensic Science, organised a one-day training programme on Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of GTN Arts College, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, on 24 August 2026. The programme was held at the Instrumentation Laboratory, 3rd Floor, Science Block I. The training was offered by Ms.Riya Raj C A, Assistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science.

The training provided students with an introduction to the principles and applications of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, along with practical exposure to the instrument and its operation. The session helped the participants understand the significance of FTIR analysis in the identification and characterization of various materials and samples.

A total of 41 students benefited from the training programme. The programme provided valuable hands-on learning and enhanced the students’ practical understanding of modern analytical instrumentation.
