FDP on DATA TO DISCOVERY: Research Writing and Statistical Tools for Academicians
Date 10 to 18 November 2025
The Department of Forensic Science, under the School of Biological and Forensic Sciences, organised a seven-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “DATA TO DISCOVERY: Research Writing and Statistical Tools for Academicians” from 10th to 18th November, between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM IST. The programme aimed to enhance the research proficiency of academicians by providing structured training in research writing, artificial intelligence tools, and statistical data analysis. The FDP witnessed active participation from faculty members and researchers representing various reputed institutions across the country.
The programme commenced on 10th November with an inauguration ceremony addressed by distinguished academic leaders, followed by two insightful sessions delivered by Dr. Lancy D’Souza, Professor & Head, Department of Psychology, Maharaja’s College, Mysore. His sessions on Research Excellence, and Introduction to Research Writing provided participants with foundational perspectives on innovation, collaboration, and the journey from concept to publication.
On 11th November, Dr. G. B. Aravind from JSS Medical College conducted an in-depth session on Designing a High-Quality Research Paper, focusing on structure, clarity, and academic rigor.
From 12th to 18th November, Mr. Mebin Wilson Thomas, Assistant Professor, Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, led a comprehensive series of sessions covering AI for Literature Review, AI for Research Drafting, Visuals & Ethics, and Data Analysis using JAMOVI. Participants gained hands-on experience in descriptive statistics, assumption testing, and inferential statistical techniques through a practical, tool-based approach.
Overall, the FDP enriched participants' research competencies, strengthened methodological understanding, and promoted the integration of modern analytical and AI-driven tools into academic research. The department extends sincere appreciation to all speakers and participants for contributing to the programme’s success.
