The Department of English at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, is a vibrant hub for the exploration of language, literature, and culture. With a strong emphasis on holistic development and employability, the department offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including British Literature, Indian Literature, American Literature, Literary Criticism and Theory, European and Non-European Literature, Phonetics and Linguistics, Cultural Studies, English Language Teaching and more.

The curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, creative expression, and intercultural exploration. Students have the opportunity to engage with classical and contemporary texts, participate in workshops on creative and technical writing, public speaking, translation and ‘interarts’ studies. They have the opportunity of attending seminars and conferences that are organised in collaboration with the University’s global partners on areas of language, literary and cultural interest. The department's commitment to experiential learning is evident in its multiple initiatives, namely ‘Live Exhibition’, ‘Theatre’ and ‘Digi-tech’ Studios. To ensure proficiency and employability Language labs operate in partnership with Cambridge Assessment to build LSRW skills and to train for ‘Linguaskill’ certification. Jayantian Epistles and Krysolite are monthly newsletters, which provide the students a platform for creative expression.

The Department of English is known for its intensive, academic and creative approach to language, literary and cultural studies. The Department organises 350+ skill and ability enhancement programmes that include ‘Theatre productions’, ‘Live Exhibitions’ and ‘Skill Studios ’for archiving experiences that function as the department’s niche cultural repository. Every academic year the Department organises expert international lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, cultural fests and entrepreneurial initiatives that facilitate reflective and experiential learning in stakeholders. The Erudite Club and Krysolite serve as platforms for students to engage in literary and cultural expression.
