Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University)

The sun hadn’t even fully risen, yet the excitement in the air was unmistakable. Ethnic Day 2025 at Kristu Jayanti University was here, a day that every Jayantian eagerly waits for. This year theme, “Sanskriti Sangama” was, a confluence of cultures, traditions, and identities that came together to form the vibrant heartbeat of our University.

The celebrations began with a breathtaking procession from Science Block, and it was truly a sight to behold. Students representing the different states and few foreign countries marched through the campus, each representing their region’s unique attire and tradition. There were colorful turbans from Rajasthan, elegant sarees from Bengal, Naga shawls, Kerala kasavus, Assamese mekhela chadors, and international students in their native outfits.

The sound of drums, folk instruments, and cheers filled the air as the procession moved forward, an unending river of colors, joy, and pride. Every step of the parade reflected the very essence of Sanskriti Sangama, cultures merging, not clashing; traditions being shared, not compared.

As the day unfolded, the campus came alive with performances that celebrated India’s cultural depth. Three grand stages were set up in different corners of the university, each showcasing an array of traditional dances & music.

From classical Bharatanatyam and Odissi performances to energetic Bhangra, Manipuri dance, and tribal folk acts, each performance carried the rhythm of a story, of heritage, unity, and pride. bringing global cultures into the mix, perfectly aligning with the theme of Sanskriti Sangama.

The campus came alive with three live DJs set up across different spots, turning the day into a vibrant mix of music and energy. Traditional tunes blended effortlessly with modern beats, and soon, no one could resist moving to the rhythm. The whole atmosphere was electric; everywhere you turned, students were dancing and singing. Adding to the magic, folk dance forms of Karnataka like Hulivesha and Gombe Aata were beautifully performed, bringing a splash of tradition to the celebration. Professional artists joined in to showcase these folk forms, giving everyone a glimpse of Karnataka’s rich and colourful heritage. With over 16,000 students gathered on campus, the energy was beyond words. The decorations transformed the entire university into a living celebration, with colorful drapes, traditional art installations, and lights that reflected the diversity of our heritage.

Every corner told a story. What made it even more heartwarming was how everyone embraced each other’s traditions. Students didn’t just dress in their own cultural outfit; they also tried on others’, danced to new tunes, and exchanged languages and stories. It was a real-time example of unity in diversity.

“Sanskriti Sangama” was not just a title; it was the heart of the celebration. Sanskriti means culture, and Sangama means confluence or coming together. Together, they symbolized how multiple cultures can blend into one beautiful harmony without losing their individuality.

At Kristu Jayanti University, students come from every corner of India and from across the globe. Events like Ethnic Day remind us that while we may speak different languages, follow different customs, and belong to different communities, we all share one collective identity, that of being Jayantians.

Why Events Like These Matter
Ethnic Day celebrations Sanskriti Sangama hold a special place in university life. They go beyond entertainment; they educate, unite, and inspire. In today’s globalized world, understanding and respecting cultural diversity is not just valuable, it’s essential.

Such events foster empathy and inclusion, helping students develop a global mindset while staying rooted in their own traditions. They create memories that outlast semesters, moments of laughter, pride, and connection that shape character and community.

Kristu Jayanti University has always believed in holistic education, nurturing not only academic excellence but also cultural intelligence. Sanskriti Sangama was a perfect reflection of that philosophy, a reminder that true education celebrates both the mind and the soul.

Every part of Sanskriti Sangama was made possible because of the students. From decorating the campus, coordinating performances, and handling logistics to maintaining discipline and keeping the energy alive throughout the day everything was done by them with incredible passion. It was amazing to see how students took ownership of the event and worked together like one big family. In the process, they learned so much more than what classrooms could teach: teamwork, leadership, communication, time management, and the ability to think on their feet. Watching them take charge and make the celebration such a grand success was truly inspiring.

As the afternoon sun began to mellow, lights shimmered across the campus and music filled the air. The celebration continued till noon, but the energy never dipped for a moment. Students danced, laughed, and celebrated every bit of the day with the same enthusiasm they started with, making it a day to remember filled with colors, culture, and joy.
