Walking into the Department of Economics, one quickly realizes this is not just a place where theories are memorized and formulas are solved. It is a space where curiosity is nurtured, ideas are challenged, and knowledge is pushed beyond classroom walls. Over the years, our department has built a culture where learning does not stop with lectures; it transforms into meaningful research, active discussions and contributions that reach audiences far beyond the campus. Economics is often described as the study of choices, but in reality, it is much more about interpreting society, understanding challenges and finding sustainable solutions.
I am proud to share that this year, our department has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first to secure 100% publications in the Springer Nature Book Series, Advances in Business and Technology Education, by constantly motivating and guiding students to step into the world of research. Our faculty members have always emphasized that research bridges classroom learning and real-world application. In lectures, concepts such as business sustainability, technological innovation, and economic development are taught in depth. But the story does not end there, students are encouraged to take these concepts and question them, test them and explore them further. Albert Einstein once said, “Research is what I am doing when I don’t know what I am doing.” This perfectly captures how our department approaches research with openness, curiosity and the courage to explore the unknown.
Our department is truly special because we are not alone in this journey. Alongside our professors, we can publish papers in Scopus-indexed journals, Springer Nature volumes and other recognized platforms. The process has been both challenging and inspiring. One of the unique features of our college is the monthly Research Day, where all the department faculty members and students dedicate their time exclusively to writing papers and developing ideas.
Like many of you, I once believed that “research is not my cup of tea.” However, my mindset completely changed with the motivation and guidance of my professors. I discovered that research, which seemed difficult at first, is actually one of the most exciting and creative areas of learning. It gives us, the students—the future of this nation, an opportunity to put our ideas into papers, shaping them around the issues we care about. And not just students, but anyone can transform their thoughts into contributions that make a difference.
This achievement is more than just a milestone; it reflects consistency, collaboration and vision. Our professors have gone beyond teaching; they have mentored us and shown us that research is not intimidating but rewarding. Most importantly, this journey is inclusive—every student is encouraged to participate, every voice is valued, and every idea has the potential to grow into something impactful. The recognition from Springer Nature and other global forums is not just about publications; it is about building confidence in students and showing us that our voices matter in shaping conversations on sustainability, technology, business and other areas.
The Department of Economics has proven that milestones are not distant dreams when students and faculty work together; they become part of our everyday reality. Research here is alive in our classrooms, our monthly Research Days, and the pride we carry with every paper published. And as we celebrate the success of 100% Scopus publications, one thing is sure: this is only the beginning of a much larger journey, where every idea can inspire change.
