Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital city of Tamil Nadu and a significant economic, cultural and educational centre on India's southeastern coast. Once known as Madras, the city was founded in the 17th century by the British East India Company, growing from a trading outpost. Today, it is a coastal city boasting the world-renowned Marina Beach and a rich tapestry of historical temples. Chennai's history dates back to the Tondaimandalam province ruled by the Chola dynasty in the 2nd century A.D. History began in the 17th century, where the traditional arts, music like Carnatic, and dance (Bharatanatyam) flourished.
The city is also a major exporter of software and Information Technology (IT), and it is famous for its South Indian food culture, celebrated for the aroma of filter coffee and a variety of dosas, along with traditional dishes like Sundal and Elai Sappadu. Nestled along the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, Chennai boasts a stunning shoreline highlighted by the iconic Marina Beach—a 12-kilometre stretch of golden sand that ranks among the most extensive urban beaches in the world. In 2017, UNESCO recognised Chennai's creativity, joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UNICCN).
I have recently shifted from Tamil Nadu to Bangalore and begun a new journey by joining Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). Moving to a new city is a big step, and I feel excited to embrace all the opportunities and experiences ahead of me. Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) is known for its vibrant campus life, quality education, and wide range of activities.
I look forward to learning, growing, and making the most of my time here academically and professionally. While I will always cherish my memories from my city, this new chapter in Bangalore feels full of promise. This shift is about changing a place and exploring new possibilities, meeting new people, and building a brighter future.
