The 2018-2020 - M A Journalism batch has created a transformation to the entire academic sector through their remarkable achievements of being the first ever batch in the history of Kristu Jayanti College to have 100% research paper publications to their credit. Undoubtedly, the students worked hard to conduct research and presented papers at various national and international conferences held at different universities across the country. It was only possible with a great deal of encouragement and support from the Department and the Faculty coordinator for Researches Dr. Juby Thomas. She was a driving force and continuous encouragement for all twenty students in their research activities, preparing them for the presentations and eventually helping them get it published in UGC-approved journals, conference proceedings and books.

When students from MA Journalism batch of 2018-2020 were asked about their experience in this journey, they were extremely happy and proud to say that even though it seemed next to impossible with all the practical’s and assignments, they were ultimately able to publish their own research works with mutual support among themselves and the support of all the faculty members of the department. They appreciated the college management team for having faith in them to travel across the country to present their papers. Which allowed them to understand the pulse of the sector and instill in them to perform better.

“Well I agree that it was very difficult for me to do research, but the constant support from the department was the only motivating force behind me completing the research papers and publishing them was a greater joy. Though time was a concern for many of us, we students tried our best to bring out a good research output. Getting one student to complete a publication itself is a great task, and in such a situation the department made sure that all twenty of us presented and published our research works. We owe a lot to the department and to the management” said Sreenanth K.

Nibedita Choudhury from west Bengal said, “I never thought of doing research in my lifetime, but the constant motivation and encouragement from Dr. Juby Thomas made it impossible to be possible. And today, I walk out of this great temple of learning with a remarkable achievement of holding the credit of my research work published in an International Journal which has an impact factor.

As a batch, we were profoundly fortunate to have a research platform devoted to research work in all four semesters in our master’s degree. We gratefully remember all our teachers, Dr. Gopakumar, who was our professor of research methodology in the second semester whose interesting lessons were the foundation to the world of research, and Dr. Juby Thomas, who kept encouraging each one of us to publish research papers; and a major thank you to her for having patience in reading through each of our works and correcting us.

Towards the end, We, the 2018-2020 batch of Journalism and Mass Communication would like to give an open Challenge to the upcoming batches of Kristu Jayanti to beat our record of being a batch with a 100% research publication.
