The Monsoon cloud is rolling, and if you are trying to find Misty waterfalls, Beautiful landscape and countryside fresh air, Shivasamudram waterfalls should be on top of your list. Though just a two-hour drive from Bangalore, it's always good to start early and enjoy the Mysore Expressway drive in the first league. Take a quick bite at Maddur Tiffany's, don't miss the strong filter coffee. It's time to take a left turn toward Malavalli, and within 40 minutes, you will reach Gaganachukki viewpoint. And here you are, the mesmerizing view will awe you. The massive and roaring cascade of water is plunging from a height of 300 feet, creating a misty atmosphere all around. Overlooking the hills and fields, this scene forms a dreamy environment.
Take your camera out and start clicking; you cannot stop. It is to be believed that Shivanasamudra is named after the nearby Shiva temple. The waterfalls split into two iconic segments — Gaganachukki and Barachukki. You will also witness the Shiva Hydro Plant, established in 1902 and still a point of pride for our country. Also, a friendly warning, the place is full of mischievous monkeys, so guard your snacks and phones carefully! If time allows, you can drive 15km more to witness Barachukki viewpoint, though the falls here are not as tall as Gaganchukki; they are wider and equally captivating. As the day winds down, head back to Bangalore with a camera full of photos, lungs full of fresh air, and a heart full of monsoon memories.
