About the Centre
The Centre for Yoga and Wellness in Kristu Jayanti College is meant for promotion of the practice of yoga and wellness related activities among students and faculty. Yoga promotes physical, mental, and social health. It disciplines the mind and improves the power of concentration. Therefore, it is ideally suited for those who are involved in intellectual pursuits. The concepts of positive health and lifelong learning are relatively new and need to be strengthened among the student community. The Centre for Yoga and Wellness strives for imparting knowledge of our ancient scientific practice of Yoga for leading a holistic and meaningful life.
Vision
To foster holistic development in students and faculty through the practice of yoga, create an environment that nurtures well-being and balance. We aim to nurture students’ potential, guiding them to enhance their talents and achieve success in competitions and personal growth.
Mission
To equip students with the skills and discipline to excel in yoga, promote active participation in All-India Inter-University competitions, and foster a culture of excellence and well-being within the college community.
Objectives
The objectives of the Centre for Yoga and Wellness are to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of students and faculty through regular yoga practice, to integrate yoga as a vital component of the college’s holistic education, to provide opportunities for students to engage in competitive and non-competitive yoga activities, to foster an environment that encourages self-awareness and stress management, and to contribute to the overall health and wellness of the college community in alignment with the UGC guidelines. The Centre also aims to support research and development in the field of yoga, encouraging academic exploration and innovation in wellness practices.

International Yoga Day Celebration for Teachers

On International Yoga Day, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organized a special yoga session for all teaching staff on June 21, 2025. The event was conducted to recognize the importance of mental and physical well-being among educators and to promote yoga as a way to manage stress and enhance overall health.
Teachers enthusiastically participated in the session, appreciating the opportunity to relax, stretch, and rejuvenate. The session not only helped improve physical flexibility but also encouraged mindfulness and inner calm—qualities essential for a balanced teaching life.
Yoga for Self and Society
Date: 21 June 2025
On June 21, 2025, Kristu Jayanti College's Centre for Yoga and Wellness, in collaboration with the School of Management, organized a special yoga session to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga under the theme "Yoga Sangama". The event featured gentle stretching exercises, mindful breathing techniques, and meditation sessions aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. Distinguished guests present included Ms. Meena Waghrey (Advocate at the High Court and Founder of Outofcourt.in), Mr. Sachin K. Sarvade (DGM at Climaveneta), Mr. Pramod Pillai P (Cyber Security Architect at Nokia), Ms.Swapna Sakhalkar (Program Manager at CTS), and Ms. Asha S. Sarvade (Art of Living Coordinator), along with faculty and students from the MBA departments.
Student Development Programme (1st Edition)
Date: 17 - 22 February 2025
The Centre for Yoga and Wellness at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, successfully conducted the first edition of the Student Development Programme (SDP) titled “Empowering Students through Yoga: Enhancing Health and Well-Being” from 17th to 22nd February 2025. This initiative aimed to enhance students’ physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being by integrating yoga into their daily routines. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew, followed by a session by Ms. Srilakshmi, Assistant Professor, Performing Arts at Kristu Jayanti College, highlighting the importance of yoga in daily life. The sessions throughout the week were led by esteemed instructors including Krishnasundarananda Avt. (Guru Kul Network), Mr. K. R. Ganesh Babu (Aum Yoga Therapy Centre), Ms. Gomathy Coordinator, Centre for yoga and Wellness, and concluded with an advanced relaxation session by Reetu Singh, an experienced yoga trainer, covering practical techniques for stress relief, mindfulness, and concentration. Students actively participated in breathing exercises, meditation, and guided relaxation techniques. The programme had a significant impact, helping students manage exam anxiety, improve focus, and adopt yoga as a lifestyle practice. Positive feedback highlighted the growing interest in wellness-based learning among students and set the foundation for future initiatives.
Faculty Development Programme

The Centre for Yoga and Wellness at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, successfully conducted a week-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Harmony in Motion: Yoga for Holistic Well-Being and Professional Excellence”. The programme aimed to empower educators with practical yoga and mindfulness techniques to enhance their physical health, emotional balance, and professional focus. Inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew, the FDP commenced with a foundational session by Ms. Srilakshmi, Assistant Professor, Performing Arts at Kristu Jayanti College, highlighting the importance of yoga in daily life. The sessions throughout the week were led by esteemed instructors including Krishnasundarananda Avt. (Guru Kul Network), Mr. K. R. Ganesh Babu (Aum Yoga Therapy Centre), Ms. Gomathy Coordinator, Centre for yoga and Wellness, and concluded with an advanced relaxation session by Reetu Singh, an experienced yoga trainer. Yoga Session- Stress Management through Yoga
Date: 16 January 2025
The Centre for Life Skill Education, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and the Centre for Yoga and Wellness, Kristu Jayanti College, organized an insightful session on "Stress Management through Yoga" for IV Semester BCA Analytics students. The session aimed to equip students with effective techniques to manage academic and personal stress through yoga practices. The event commenced with an informative talk by Dr. Prathap, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, who emphasized the impact of stress on mental and physical health. He highlighted the role of yoga in fostering relaxation and enhancing overall well-being.
The practical session was led by Ms. Gomathy P, Physical Education Teacher and Coordinator at the Centre for Yoga and Wellness, who guided students through loosening exercises, yoga asanas (Tadasana, Bhujangasana, Sethu Bandhasana), and Pranayama (breathing techniques) to promote relaxation and stress relief. The session concluded with a guided relaxation practice, leaving students with a sense of mental clarity and calmness. The session was well-received, with students actively participating and gaining valuable insights on integrating yoga into their daily routines for long-term stress management and well-being.
National Faculty Development Programme

The Centre for Yoga and Wellness, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, successfully organized a National Faculty Development Programme on the theme Transformative Teaching through the Lens of Yoga Sutra in virtual mode. This innovative initiative aimed to integrate the timeless principles of the Yoga Sutras into contemporary education, enriching teaching practices with mindfulness, ethical leadership, and holistic engagement. The sessions offered deep insights into areas such as self-awareness, emotional resilience, inclusive education, and meaningful student-teacher relationships. Drawing from the teachings of the Yoga Sutras, the programme encouraged educators to adopt practices that foster balance, reflection, empathy, and purposeful leadership in the classroom. Eminent resource persons including Dr. Elangovan, Dr. Soundiram, Dr. Duraisamy, Mrs. Bramaramba, Dr. Srividhya, and Prof. Vigraanth Bapu guided the participants through various dimensions of transformative teaching, linking classical yogic wisdom to modern pedagogical approaches. This national-level programme reflects the college’s commitment to empowering educators through value-based learning, aligning with its vision of academic excellence and holistic development.
Bengaluru North University Yoga Championship for Men and Women 2024

The Women’s Yoga Team of Kristu Jayanti College showcased exemplary talent and dedication at the BNU Intercollegiate Yoga Championship 2024, held at Government First Grade College, KR Puram, on November 16, 2024. Competing against several institutions, the team delivered commendable performances across various events, ultimately securing the Overall Runners-Up Championship in the Women’s category. Notably, Ms. K. Sneha (23MPSC52) demonstrated exceptional skill and poise, earning the Silver Medal in the Individual Asana Competition. This individual accolade is a testament to her consistent effort, discipline, and commitment to excellence in the practice of yoga. The management of Kristu Jayanti College, under the leadership of Principal Rev. Dr. Augustine George, extended heartfelt congratulations to the team for their outstanding achievements. The college remains dedicated to holistic student development, promoting a balanced approach between academics and co-curricular pursuits such as yoga and sports. With dedicated faculty, expert guidance, and access to state-of-the-art facilities, Kristu Jayanti College continues to foster a nurturing environment that encourages students to excel in all dimensions of life. Expert Talk- In Observance of World Diabetes Day

The Centre for Yoga and Wellness, Kristu Jayanti College, organized an expert talk on "Diabetes & Diet: Building a Healthier Lifestyle for Educators," featuring distinguished specialists from Baptist Hospital, Bengaluru. The session aimed to enhance awareness among educators about diabetes management and prevention through a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr. Afsar Fatima, MD, DM, a renowned endocrinologist, provided valuable insights into managing diabetes, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, patient education, and individualized care strategies. She underscored the necessity of proactive health management to prevent diabetes-related complications. Ms. Susie S. Nongbet, an esteemed nutritionist and dietitian, shared practical guidance on balanced nutrition for diabetes prevention and management. She debunked common misconceptions about carbohydrates and provided actionable dietary recommendations to support a healthier lifestyle.
The session included an interactive Q & A segment, where the 58 participants, comprising faculty members and administrative staff, engaged with the experts to gain clarity on lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and optimal nutritional choices. This multidisciplinary event reinforced the significance of comprehensive diabetes care, equipping educators with essential knowledge to make informed health decisions and promote overall well-being.
