Special programme to commemorate International Women’s Day
Date: 11 March 2026
The Committee for Social Activities, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, conducted a special programme to commemorate International Women’s Day on 11 March 2026. The event was conducted at K. Narayanapura with the aim of creating awareness about the importance of educating girl children. The theme of the programme, “Inculcating the Importance of Educating a Girl Child,” highlighted the role of education in empowering women and building a stronger society. Students actively interacted with the local community to spread awareness about equal educational opportunities for girls. Various engaging activities and discussions were conducted to encourage parents and children to value education. The programme focused on promoting gender equality and social responsibility. Participants shared inspiring messages about women’s empowerment and the transformative power of education. The initiative also aimed to motivate young girls to pursue their dreams through learning. The event began at 4:30 PM and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and community members, benefiting over 25 children. Overall, the programme successfully conveyed the message that educating a girl child contributes significantly to the development of families and society.


Expert talk by Swami Japananda Ji Maharaj
Date: 22 January 2026
Kristu Jayanti University marked the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with a special programme organized by the Jayantian Extension Services – Committee for Social Activities (CSA). The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Rev. Fr. Jais V. Thomas, Director of Jayantian Extension Services, in his presidential address highlighted the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, emphasizing the ideal of “Manava Seva, Madhava Seva”—service to humanity as service to God. The chief guest, Swami Japananda Ji Maharaj, Founder and Chairman of Sri Ramakrishna Sevashram, addressed the gathering and spoke on Swami Vivekananda’s vision of humanity, selfless service, discipline, and nation-building, urging students to translate knowledge into meaningful service. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sreedhar P. D., Associate Director, Jayantian Extension Services. The event was coordinated by the CSA team.


From soil to soil - A Tribute to Farmers
Date: 17 January 2026
The Committee for Social Activities organized an event Soil to Soil - A Tribute to Farmers on 17 January 2026, with the aim of connecting volunteers to agriculture and the natural environment. As part of this initiative, we visited a farm at Hosahalli Village, Hoskote Taluk. where volunteers actively worked in the fields, gaining firsthand experience of farming practices and understanding the efforts of farmers.

The event also provided an opportunity to interact with farmers, learn about agriculture, and discuss the importance of sustainable farming and environmental awareness. Overall, the program helped volunteers appreciate the value of soil, nature, and the hard work of farmers, making it a meaningful and enriching experience.


Savitribai Pule Jayanthi A Tribute to her Legacy: Empowering women, Enlightening minds

The Committee for Social Activities organized Perna on the occasion of Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary, the Perna – Educate the Girl Child program was organized on 17 January 2026 to spread awareness about the importance of girls’ education. As part of this initiative, we visited Hosahalli village, Hoskote, and conducted a rally to highlight the value of educating the girl child and empowering her for a better future.

During the rally, we interacted with the villagers and conveyed messages on equal education, social progress, and the crucial role of education in building a strong society. The event successfully created awareness among the community and served as a meaningful tribute to Savitribai Phule’s vision of education for all.


Sarthakam – Not JustShared, Made Meaningful
Date: 07 November 2025
The Committee for Social Activities successfully organized Sarthakam– Not Just Shared, Made Meaningful, a two-phase initiative aimed at extending warmth and compassion to the underprivileged.

Phase I focused on the collection and segregation of clothes, beginning on 1st September 2025 to 15th October 2025 which saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. Phase II involved washing, packing, and distribution, marking the culmination of the event on 7th November 2025.

The CSA team visited several organizations including Berecah Bhavan, Jnana Jyothi Foundation, Udaya Old-Age Home, Sai Krupa Charitable Trust, and Jeevitha Ashrama, Guanella Preethi Nivas Old Age Home along with underprivileged areas in Nagenahalli, K.Narayanapura, and near Visalakshi Prakruthi, Golden Palms Road. Through Sarthakam, the students experienced the joy of giving, turning simple acts of sharing into moments of kindness and meaningful impact.


Balotsav
Date: 05 November 2025
The Committee for Social Activities (CSA), under the aegis of Jayantian Extension Services (JES), celebrated Children’s Day on November 5, 2025, for the children of migrant workers residing near the university campus. The event aimed to bring joy, encouragement, and recognition to young learners while fostering inclusivity and social engagement. The celebration commenced with an inspiring address by Fr. Dr. Jais V. Thomas, followed by an insightful talk by Dr. Byrappa M. on the importance of education in the development of our nation. A total of 45 migrant children participated in the event, enthusiastically engaging in various cultural activities such as singing and dancing. The celebration also recognized outstanding students for their enthusiasm and dedication, motivating them toward continued growth with the distribution of cash prize to the three best-performing students. In addition, all participating children received notebooks, crayons, and stationery kits adding to the joy and excitement of the occasion. During the valedictory ceremony, the winners and runners-up of different events were felicitated by Fr. Dr. Jais V. Thomas, Finance Officer (In-charge), Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). The event was successfully organized under the guidance of the community education programme coordinators, Dr. Saraswathi and Dr. Sona K. V., along with the CSA coordinators, Ms. Ashwitha, Dr. Vinod Baburao M, and Dr. Byrappa M. Overall; the event successfully fostered an atmosphere of joy and unity, showcasing CSA’s dedication to community engagement and holistic growth.


Pratyasha’s Annadasooha
Date: 01 November 2025
On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, 1st November 2025, the Committee for Social Activities (CSA) inaugurated the first edition of “Pratyasha’s Annadasooha”. The initiative aimed to spread kindness and compassion by reaching out to people in underprivileged areas and fostering social awareness among students.

Volunteers began by distributing food within a nearby underprivileged community, engaging warmly with residents of all age groups. A portion of the food was thoughtfully set aside, packed in disposable containers, and later distributed to individuals in need along neighborhood roads. These interactions created moments of genuine connection and reflection, allowing students to experience the joy of giving.

The event beautifully captured the spirit of Kannada Rajyotsava, celebrating unity and humanity. Pratyasha’s Annadasooha served as a heartfelt reminder that even small acts of sharing can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to others.


Smritipatham – Path of Memories
Date: 31 October 2025
On 31st October 2025, CSA organized a visit to Guanella Preethi Nivas Old Age Home as part of the program “Smritipatham – Path of Memories.” The visit aimed to spend meaningful time with the elderly residents and share moments of warmth, care, and connection. The residents greeted the volunteers with genuine smiles and open hearts. Volunteers spent time listening to their stories, experiences, and reflections from different phases of life. The conversations were emotional yet comforting, reminding everyone how deeply our elders value companionship and understanding.

The visit was a touching experience for all. Seeing the joy on the residents’ faces reaffirmed the importance of empathy and respect for the older generation. Through Smritipatham, CSA hoped to bring happiness to the residents while encouraging volunteers to carry forward the message of compassion and togetherness in their lives.


Sarthakam “Not Just Shared – Made Meaningful”
Date: 01 September 2025
The Sarthakam initiative, organized by the CSA, began on 1st September 2025 with a campus-wide clothes collection drive. Students and faculty members were encouraged to contribute, and collection boxes were placed across the campus to make participation easier. The drive received an encouraging response, with active involvement from the Jayantian community, reflecting their compassion and commitment to social causes. Phase I focused on the collection and initial preparation of clothes for donation. The team also identified potential beneficiaries, including nearby old-age homes and orphanages. The next stage, Phase II, will involve the packing and distribution of clothes and is scheduled to begin in the first week of November 2025.
