The Current Affairs activities, initiated by Kristu Jayanti College, (Autonomous) Bengaluru, provide various current affairs activities for all our Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of Kristu Jayanti College so that the students are able to enrich their knowledge, comprehend the news happening around them, able to face the challenges and adapt to day- to- day demands of the corporate world.

It is essential for a person to understand and know the environment which he works with. Through this, students are informed about the latest developments that take place in the world from time to time. Through critical evaluation of daily news and weekly reports, debates, group discussions, etc., students not only gain a comprehensive knowledge but also equip themselves with the demands of the present day world. Apart from this, the forum also stresses upon communication and presentation skills.

Current Affairs sessions are conducted every week to make the students aware of the world that they live in and look at it critically from different perspectives. Current Affairs play a vital role in the industry as the eligibility criteria of an individual is put through its paces based on their knowledge concerning their surroundings. It also helps the student appear for competitive exams like civil service exam, bank exam, and insurance sector jobs etc. The importance of awareness of Current Affairs in the present competitive world is crucial. Current Affairs sessions have been introduced as a part of the curriculum. Current Affairs sessions at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) are conducted class wise. Each department has their strategy for implementing these sessions. One hour in a week is allotted for conducting current affairs sessions. The respective class teachers are in charge of conducting these sessions. Students of each class are divided into various groups consisting of 5 to 8 members in each group for successfully conducting the current affairs sessions. Each week, one particular group is assigned the task of imparting news to the students. In each group, different students decide on different topics for presentation. The areas include Science and Technology, Social Issues, Tourism, Entertainment, Local News, National News, International News, Sports News and different occurrences in business and other recent developments. Students have to cover the important events of the previous week under each of the above-mentioned areas and present a report in the class. The chosen topics are presented with the help of Power Point Presentation, Skit, and MCQ’s. After the presentation, the stage is open for discussion. Once all the group members have completed their presentation, a concluding remark is made by the class animator based on the presentation of that particular session. Current affairs report for each month is submitted by the class teachers in the first week of the succeeding month.

The academic year 2020-21 had only online mode of CA sessions. Moreover, due to time constraints in the even semester, not all the departments could conduct the CA sessions.
