- SAAKSHI SUBBA
Secretary of KJMA (2025-26)
My destination here in Kristu Jayanti Deemed to be University (which was College then) led me to join the Kristu Jayanti Music academy (KJMA) on my very first year, back in 2023. What was supposed to be just a try-out turned into a family-pack version of a 3-year musical journey, especially during my last year here, as the secretary of the academy along with my co-secretary- Nishanth R.
The academic year 2025-26 began just like any other new session, anticipation, excitement, anxiety, and a whole lot of uncertainty due to the new role and responsibility assigned. The music room saw new voices, new talents and new passion once again and making new connections made the space look even more vibrant. Both semesters were filled with musical events both inside and outside campus and kept each singer and musician always on the get go, with numerous opportunities to showcase their artistic abilities.
It was a learning chapter for me not just as a student, a singer, or a secretary, but as a growing individual. There were times of stress, trouble, questions, fear but they challenged and tested me to not give up, to manage time wisely and to make the right decisions, because I had promised myself that I would not let the people who believed in me be let down. I feel deeply grateful that I was given numerous golden opportunities to represent the University as well as myself in various platforms, that has helped me shape myself into who I am today. Organising the invocation teams for each day was definitely the toughest but the most rewarding of all, for it made me realise the dedication and unquestionable willingness of the members to sacrifice their classes for the academy. Major events like GLORIOUS and WOODROCK really instilled in me the urge to lead wherever it was necessary under the guidance of the music teachers and the entire faculty coordinators and KJMA management.
It was truly an honour for once, to stand in front “facing” the choir rather than the usual standing “with” the choir, because I could see and witness these amazing souls thriving in their very element! We had our fair share of troubles, our fun, our impromptu jamming sessions, our OD list accumulation, whether it was crying after a show because it went good or laughing through mistakes, through it all we weren’t just music enthusiasts in a club, we were more than that, we ARE more than that. Here at KJMA we don’t just do music, we create character, we build bonds and we learn to live life to the fullest.
As I leave this place behind, I believe that the music shall echo beyond this little hiding place of mine.
- Mr. Nishanth
(23BCNA40), Student Coordinator (2025-2026), KJMA
My journey with KJMA as a Student Coordinator for the academic year (2025-2026) has truly been a turning point in my college life. What started as just an opportunity to be part of a music club became a space where I discovered growth, confidence, and purpose. During my time, I had the privilege of organizing Woodrock, managing music activities across the college, and representing KJMA at multiple fests. But beyond the responsibilities, it was the process that shaped me. I came in as a very basic musician, unsure of my abilities and hesitant to step out of my comfort zone. KJMA constantly challenged me to do more, learn more, and be better. The culture at KJMA is something special, fast-paced, enjoyable, and filled with people who are deeply passionate about music. It’s one of the busiest clubs, with something happening almost every day, and that environment naturally pushes you to grow. Over time, I developed leadership, discipline, communication, and event management skills without even realizing how much I was evolving. Personally, this journey transformed me. I was an introvert who was scared to try new things or even talk to new people. Today, I find myself more confident, open, and willing to take initiative all because of the experiences KJMA gave me. I would strongly recommend KJMA to anyone who has a passion for music. It’s more than just a club, it's a community where you grow, connect with incredible talent, and become a better version of yourself.

Student Secretary, Kristu Jayanti Music Academy
Music connects souls — and for me, Kristu Jayanti Music Academy has been that soulful connection throughout my college life. From my very first year to the last, being part of the choir has been a journey of growth, joy, and belonging.
KJMA wasn’t just a platform for performance — it was a space where I truly found myself. I had the privilege of working with several wonderful and inspiring teachers who nurtured our talents with patience and passion. More than just learning music, I learned values — commitment, teamwork, and humility.
One of the greatest gifts this Academy gave me was the people. I met incredible seniors who guided me, and juniors whose enthusiasm was infectious. Together, we faced challenges, celebrated victories, and laughed through the chaos — and it made my experience all the more meaningful.
Serving as the Student Secretary was an experience that shaped me deeply. It allowed me to step into a leadership role, to plan, to manage, and most importantly, to serve the very family that shaped me. Every rehearsal, every event — they are memories etched in my heart.
Kristu Jayanti Music Academy was more than just a part of college — it was my college experience. It gave me purpose, friendships, confidence, and a memory I’ll carry with me forever.

They say that families are not always defined by blood, but by bonds — and for me, Kristu Jayanti Music Academy has been the embodiment of that truth. What began as a simple audition turned into an extraordinary journey — a chapter of my life that has been nothing short of transformative.
I still remember that moment — heart pounding, palms slightly trembling — waiting for my turn at the auditions, silently wondering if I could ever match the brilliance of the voices I had heard before me. But then, I made it. And the very first time I stepped into the music room, I was greeted not just by melodies, but by an electrifying atmosphere of raw talent, unfiltered passion, and boundless camaraderie.
What followed wasn't just a series of music lessons or rehearsals — it was a school of life. Through music, I learned values of patience, resilience, teamwork, and humility — lessons that will accompany me far beyond the college corridors.
When I was entrusted with the privilege of leading the Academy alongside my incredible co-coordinator Ann, I was both thrilled and terrified. Steering the ship came with its fair share of chaotic days — from organizing practices to navigating endless approval processes — but every moment was an adventure that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
This phase of my college journey is irreplaceable. And if I were to place a soundtrack to these memories, Kristu Jayanti Music Academy would play the lead melody - one that has made my time here a thousand times more meaningful, harmonious, and unforgettable.

Role - Section Head , Tenor
Batch - 2022 - 2025
Being a part of Kristu Jayanti Music Academy has been one of the most defining experiences of my college life. From the moment I joined in, I found a second home in KJMA—a space filled with passion, dedication, and creativity. The academy didn’t just help me grow musically but also helped me understand the true value of teamwork and leadership.
Serving as the Section Head for the Tenors was both a responsibility and a privilege. It pushed me to be more disciplined, more patient, and more in tune with the people around me. Guiding and working alongside talented vocalists taught me that music is not just about sound—it's about connection, trust, and shared purpose. Every practice, every performance, and every challenge brought us closer as a unit.
Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the memories, and the people. KJMA wasn’t just a club—it was a family that believed in me and helped shape who I am today. I carry forward not just the skills I gained, but also the spirit and joy that came with being part of something greater than myself.
